I have a Kohler Courage XT-7 173cc engine on a Husky pressure washer.
I noticed gas leaking out thru the air filter box.
I replaced the gasket between the filter box and carburetor which helped (the gasket was in pieces) but I still have small quantities of fuel flowing out constantly.
My Kohler Courage XT-7 173ccHusky pressure washer is a year old with less less than 60hrs on it..

i just got same problem. believed to be the result of backfiring due to to wrong oil. except its more like draing out the carb instead of leaking. anyone got ideas how to fix?

I've had mine for several years and it has always worked fine, until now. Have good spark but no fuel getting to cylinder. Fuel is getting into carb/float and into pushbutton pump tube, but not thru rest of carb channeling. Blows out so no obstruction... tried full choke with no joy. Tried squirt of starter fluid into carb via air filter housing inlet hole (after removing air filter) and it ran for 2 seconds then stopped. So, problem is fuel flow.

Ok. I took off the carb and then the fuel bowl (bottom screw), then slid out the metal pin that holds the float in place like a hinge. Then  I used pliers to pull the nailhead-type needle valve out of the casting along with the float. It was sticking in the brass sleeve in the cast metal carb. I removed the needle-valve (has a rubber tip so not exactly a typical needle valve) by sliding it off the nylon float via the slot in the float, and was careful not to lose the spring. It is about 3/4 inch long and looks like a rocket with fins. Then I emery-papered the 4 edges of the needle-type valve so they were smooth and ran in and out of the brass sleeve easily. That was the problem: the needle-type valve was corroded and wouldn't slide up and down based on the float action to allow fuel into the carb. Hope this helps others. Note: if you have fuel in the tank, then tie up the rubber hose before removing the carb from it. Be careful putting everything back together and make sure you put the air cleaner-to-carb gasket in correctly.

    Mr fix it
The answer to all these problems is the float is stuck. It happens on the first use every year. Sta-bil doesn't help either.

Sadly, It's the ethanol added to the gasoline these days. Destroys everything if left over winter with gas in Carb. Every small engine made isn't engineered to withstand ethanol. Write your congress  demand better standards for small engines. It gets old having to replace every chainsaw, weed eater, lawnmower, leaf blower, pressure washer  ---------  carburetor every year.
Or buy unleaded gas in the can without ethanol added for $5.00 to $7.50 per quart.

How do I replace the pull cord? Got the cover off that has 4 torx screws. 3 nuts on bolts on top of recoil starter. The bolt turns with the nut. Won't loosen up.
