In June of 2013, AT&T recommended and sold me an ongoing technical assistance plan covering any issues that might happen to my computer. Their tech dept., called 'ConnecTech', immediately installed a 'Toolbox' on my desktop that enabled me to run scans and troubleshoot any problems the computer might be having. On Sept. 6th, my computer started to display an error pop-up telling me to call ConnecTech to troubleshoot. I called ConnectTech and reached a live technician who I explained the problem to. He accessed my computer so he could see and manipulate my desktop in order to solve the problem. After talking to him for a while, I became aware that he was probably new in his job, as he kept putting me on hold for long periods of time but when he'd come back, he'd try the same things he'd tried before that didn't work.  The last time he put me on hold, he came back and told me he was going to have to get a backup of all my Microsoft contacts, calendar appointments, etc. He started with the contacts (epthere were 500 because of the large number of business clients I'd served over the years and stayed in touch with). After creating the backup list, he deleted all the items that were originally in my MS Office 'Contacts' folder and dragged his new backup list over to replace the old one....except, instead of putting all 500 of the contacts back into the now empty 'Contacts' folder, he mistakenly dragged and dropped them into the 'E-mail' folder, which had over 100 emails in it. That was the beginning of the end. By doing that, he corrupted my entire Microsoft Office Suite of programs, destroying over 20 years of my real estate business information that I used and relied on every day to stay in touch with all of my old clients. My email was inaccessible, my contacts were gone, my MS Money records were gone, my calendar with all my appointments, birthdays, meetings, etc. were all wiped out with a single stroke. Not only were all my emails gone from my computer, but whatever he did changed all the settings in my email program, which in turn wiped out all saved emails that were on the AT&T server. This included the destruction of documentary evidence necessary to prove my claims in a legal matter against a building contractor (our signed contract).  Worse, I had all this MS Office information backed up on my android phone but the automatic synch that occurred when my phone was in range of my computer got wiped out as well, due to the fact that my phone was near my computer when he corrupted it.

I was beside myself when I realized what he'd done.  He panicked when he realized that he was incapable of returning my computer to its original state and then tried to get a second tech to come on and repair his damage. The second tech couldn't retrieve any of my information either. He gave me a case number and told me an 'upper level' would call me later that day.

This started a nightmare of my having to stay on my computer and telephone for 3-4 hours a day with whomever was working on it, every single day (Sundays included), day after day and week after week, from September 6, 2013 through October 2, 2013.  During that time, approximately twenty (20) first, second, and third level technicians from ConnectTech, as well as various managers and supervisors in different departments, attempted to repair the problems that the first Connect Technician caused.  However, not only did each technician fail, but many made the matters worse by corrupting all the Microsoft product files on my computer, including those that were not associated with Office.

On October 2, 2013, a Ms. Katrina Willis, from the main ConnectTech office, who my calls had been escalated to, insisted on sending another technician to my residence to personally examine my computer. However, like his predecessors, the last Connect Technician failed to repair the damage on my computer as well.  He sent a report to his boss, Ms. Willis, indicating that it was irreparable and left me a copy of the report.

The next day I telephoned Ms. Willis and told her that not only did I have to buy a new computer because of their incompetence, but my entire means of income was entirely gone, thanks to ConnectTech. I asked what she proposed to do about it and she, without hesitation, said that she'd refund me $15 for the last months service and nothing more!

1. I could no longer conduct my regular business.
2. I had to buy a new computer.
3. All my financial records for the past 5 years were gone.
4. My CPA couldn't file any accurate tax information with state and federal regulatory agencies.
5. I could no longer prove my claim against a building contractor who owed me several thousand dollars because they corrupted my MS Word program where I'd saved our agreement.
6. I literally lost over 100 hours of my time by having to stay on the phone with ConnectTech every day while one incompetent person after another tried to correct the damages, to no avail....only because they feared a lawsuit.

....and they want to give me compensation of $15 !!? I will not rest until I get adequate compensation for the irreparable damages they did to me.
