Violations of FDCPA

This company calls us on a debt that is over 10 years old. We informed them it was past the statue of limitations and to mail us a bill or provide us with their address so we can send them back a letter stating so. They refused to provide us an address and continue to call. Sooooo, we have now gotten as rude with them as they do with us. We actually look forward to the calls now to blow off steam. It is amazing that our government allows businesses to operate this way in 2012. We are hoping they do to us what they have done to so many, change the dates on the bills so they can report it(we would sue if they did), sue us so we can counter sue for violation of the FDCPA. What a scumbag business this is. But yet the BBB in Virginia gives them a top notch rating. The Virginia BBB must be drunk or on drugs to not see that Portfolio Recovery is nothing but law breaking crooks.

They play a number of games to keep collection going even when it's past SOL. They may be "accidentally" sending letters to old addresses, to later claim your validation letter is past the 30 day initial period when if you send it they can't collect until they validate. They are trying to get some payment that they can claim resets SOL, so they can further pressure you or sue.
By refusing to provide an address, they are evading your FDCPA based right to dispute and request validation of the alleged debt.
Contact your state Attorney General to file a complaint for their evasion of your validation request, and for assistance in getting their contact information.
