If your stainless steel appliance is rusting it is because you have cleaned it in properly. No Stainless steel
finish is truly "stainless" the nature of the metal forms a natural coating that keeps it clean and shiny.
That finish is stripped off when you use chemicals that you should not use to clean the appliance, or when water is used to clean the appliance and isnt dried properly. You should only use actual stainless steel cleaner on your stainless appliances and always dry any remaining moisture off the appliance when your are finished. As for the rust you can use Bar Keepers Friend to remove the spots without harm to the appliance use a plastic scrub pad and water with the Bar Keepers Friend and go with the grain of the metal. This should remove the rust. Make sure you clean all of the cleaner off and dry the appliance thouroughly and the protective coating that the steel forms should restore itself in a few days.
