Lid locking when empty

2 not 1 but 2 washers bought in 4 years both of them within weeks of each other lids locked when the washer was empty. Once we got the lid to release the washer would not work anymore. I guess you get what you pay for. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER. You will regret it!
