Trouble Cancelling Service

We have had Dish for over 6 years, and during that time I have made changes to the programming, scheduled service and repairs, ordered extra packages, etc. without a problem. Today, I called to cancel our service as we are putting the house up for sale. I spent a good five minutes on the phone with a customer rep who tried to get me to move the service to another address, to transfer the service to someone else, among other things. After I declined all of those options, she abruptly told me that my husband is the only person authorized to make changes to the account and he'll have to call back.
So let's get this straight: I could have moved the service to a whole other address, I could have transferred the service to someone else, I could have ordered a bunch of programming... somehow I'm "authorized" to do any and all of that. But once Dish runs out of ideas to keep us from canceling, suddenly it's "sorry, you're not authorized".
What a joke.
