Gotta hand it to them, they took my mom 5 years ago,for 500 dollars.Never realized they are not legit,People it is a debt, you can't go to jail, there is ways in which you can verify your debt. They hack into an old account, and go from that point. How did they get my cell, simple, matter of public record, second your family, they can get that info as well.Just a few clicks and they have.It is a cyber crime, but as stated, unless in this country, they can't touch them.In essence, get it in writing, never give any info to them, what they have is old,and need something new.Funny, the Payday loan, I'm suppose to have, the company went bankrupt.Check your state as well, most payday loans are against the law.By the way, they wanted 2,500 dollars sent to a p.o. box in New York, debit card or a check made out.Run,call your state attorney.

Yes, they can easily find relatives and employers, by using skip-tracing companies like Accurint, datawhore to the scams. While legitimate collection agencies use it for finding debtors when people move, the scams use it to harass targets and pretend they're "trying to locate to serve papers", as if there's some "lawsuit being filed". It's all an act designed to create panic and extort money without any proof the "debt" is real or owed to them.
