The refrigerator repairman was very nice and very knowledgeable and on-time. All good things. He did repair the GE built-in I have in under 1 hour using a GE part he carried on his truck. Again, all good. The price? $244 for labor and $323 for the part. He did quote this in advance and I could have declined and not had my fridge working.
I Googled the part, and I could have purchased it from GE directly as a genuine factory part for $225 or $125 as a replacement part not from GE. And only my lawyer dares charge me over $200/hour for services.
Not much alternative. I called GE and they were the ones who scheduled my service through A&E - it is their "factory" service here.
Great result but a high price. I could have paid the $65 service charge, sent him away and found someone else to do the job, but then I would still be without a working fridge, so I'd pay it again if asked.
