failure to honor contract

Avoid this company at all costs.  What your promised when you buy (sign up) is absolutely not what you get.  We had a 21 year old split unit, AHS sent at least 5 different companies to look at the problem and each one of them had a different diagnosis, until the last guy who actually condemned the unit, and AHS would not honor it - they blamed me for not replacing the evaporator coil (which they had agreed to repair) but it would have cost me close to $800 for the freon (old style) and in his opinion would not have stopped the problem..didn't make a difference to them - and by the way the power to my upstairs unit was turned off so it could have ran out of freon since the unit wasn't / couldn't run without power.  They billed me for a service call for duct inspection - never did it.  They billed me for a "leak test" - never did it.  $100 service call which I didn't pay until they threatened to turn me over to collections.  Long story short I have 3 friends who are commercial HVAC guys look at (knowing they couldn't  / wouldn't get the job) and they were all amazed this unit hadn't been replaced years ago.  The compressor would not have made it thru the summer - and the unit was so rusted from leaks that it actually disintegrated coming down the stairs (I have LOTS of photos)  The evaporator could not have been replaced as housing was completely rusted thru.  So now we've bought a new Ruud system (awesome) and what a joy not be living off of fans (12) in the summer and electric heaters (8) in the winter.  They are supposedly going to reimburse me the $765 it would have cost them - once I provide paperwork proving I had work done.  We'll see how that goes.  AND you can't sue them because of the Arbitration clause in contract - at least not yet - BUT what you can do is get the mechanical license # from each service company they send out and report them to your appropriate State authority - watch what happens.  I wish you all luck and I'll post what happens with us.  Good Luck and God Speed.  These people need to be stopped.
