Sunrise shows up in numerous similar complaints, alleging collection notices for unordered magazines.  It appears that some of these originate with deceptive "sweepstakes" pop-up ads, that deceptively "subscribe" the people who enter, Others may be due to "free trail" copies, that they then claim automatically convert to a "subscription" if you don't cancel.

Other "subscriptions" don't appear to have any clear origin, although there are are some hints that some marketing outfit is setting up these "free trial negative option subscriptions".  Although they claim you may have "ordered", they have no proof, and ANYONE could sign up ANYONE on one of their websites, with no way to verify the subscription is from the alleged person.

They may be running a "subscription cramming" scam, signing up people for various Hearst publications, then using Sunrise to send "collection notices" to get payment, so they can say you "subscribed".

You don't have to pay for a subscription you never agreed to.  Technically, it is a violation of US Postal Regulations to send a bill for unordered merchandise through the US Mail, possibly even mail fraud. Reports are that they back off when challenged.

Notify Hearst, in writing mailed certified, that you did not subscribe to this magazine.  Also notify Sunrise in writing mailed certified, that you did not order this magazine, and that you dispute the alleged debt.  Since Sunrise is a "debt collector" (they implied the amount was in collection and delinquent) as well as a "marketer", that invokes the dispute and validation provisionts of FDCPA, and they are required to cease collections until they obtain and send proof of the alleged debt from the original creditor.  There isn't any such proof, and they know it, so they go away.

You can also file billing fraud and deceptive marketing complaints with FTC and your state Attonrey General, as well as a mail fraud complaint with the U.S.Postal Inspector.

Should you have any further problems (unlikely), get an attorney and sue them, for violating FDCPA (deceptive collection).  You can find a consumer attorney in your state through www.naca.net

Still no magazines received. Money was sent elec. but no magizines received. It is now over a month since I ordered the subscription and no telephone number is listed to call and I have not received any magazines.

I want my 7.99 credit back. I do not wish to subscribe to a company that cannot be contacted. There is not an area to contact customer service. Just routine printed statements by you. For instance I tried to highlight the missing issues of June and it said next delivery in August. It has been entirely too long since order placed to get magazines.

I do not wish to subscribe anymore.

      Who did you order from?

      Sunrise?
      Or some shady telemarketer?
Or did the telemarketer "bill" you through Sunrise?
Did they call you, out of the blue, and if so, from what number?

Have you called the publisher directly, using information from the magazine, to see if any subscription is in their system?

Frankly, it is not safe to do business with anyone who calls you on the phone.  Most of them are fraudulent telemarketing scams of one sort or another, and the lack of documented agreement or verifiable contact information when using the phone just increases the odds you will be dealing with one of them.

You can buy magazines directly from the publisher, on-line, and it will generally be cheaper than most of the promised "good deals" of the telemarketers.  It only costs around $10 to $15 per year for most consumer magazines, and many publishers will even guarantee to give you your remaining balance back if you decide to cancel.  Moreover, you won't end up dealing with some scam trying to con you into paying some inflated price you never agreed to, or trying to extort a "termination fee" by falsely claiming "you agreed" to a $2000 multi-year subscription.

Why walk at night in the wrong part of town if you don't have to?
