I took my vehicle in for an intermittent issue that was causing the transmission not to shift correctly. The shops diagnostic machine said it was the transmission valve body which is a covered item. But after Direct Auto sent someone to check it out they would not cover the part because they could not get the car to duplicate the error. I called and talked to a Joseph Kelly at Direct Auto and explained that again this was INTERMITTENT and it would be hard to duplicate and that its happened 4 times in the last month. PLUS, the Mercedes dealership has a state of the art diagnostic machine and this is what it found. I told him that this could cause more damage or injury to my family if this continued. His reply was "I'm not telling you to drive it to cause more damage or cause injury to family." (great response!) So I went online and looked at other complaints about this company on other sites and this seems to be one of the common complaints about them. Unless the car will completely not run due to a covered part they will not cover it. I read a complaint on another site that a water pump had a small leak but since the car was still operable they wouldn't cover it. So they had to either continually put water in it OR pay to fix it on their own. I have had many cars and many cars in a shop and this is the first time I was ever been denied buy a warranty company. This complaint may not get resolved, but if I can keep anyone else from buying this warranty then that will have to do.
