Quit Defending Them!

Complaint

I'm sick to death of hearing people defend telemarketers, or anyone else that calls me wanting money from me. I don't give a damn if these people are "doing their job". These companies need to stop using this as a means to get customers. Society would not stand for these people walking uninvited into my home and spewing their sales crap, and society shouldn't stand for them calling us on the phones that WE pay for on OUR time in OUR homes.

This is an invasion of our privacy, pure and simple and it should stop. If I want something, I will search it out, I don't need someone calling me to try to sell it to me.

Nuff said.

First, list all your phone numbers on the Do Not Call list.

Whenever you receive a call in violation of the law, file a complaint with FTC, your state AG, and the AG in the state they are located in.  It is easy on-line, and if you are receiving their junk calls, so are lots of others.
Also post complaints on the various junk call tracking sites (www.800notes.com, etc.) so others getting their calls know who they are from, and are more likely to also file complaints.  That magnifies the effect of your complaints.

Most violations of the Do Not Call law are by a small number of companies engaged in a huge number (typically tens of millions) of autodialed calls.  It may take a year or so to get FTC attention against a violator, but when they strike, it is usually easy to show large numbers of violations simply by showing that they failed to even purchase the appropriate Do Not Call lists, and it tends to knock them out permanently, with consent agreements barring them from engaging in telemarketing or selling their call lists, attached assets under control of a court appointed receiver, suspended penalty clauses triggered by any failure to accurately disclose assets, etc.

Don't just get mad.  Get even.

I listed my numbers with the Do Not Call list months ago and it hasn't helped one bit.

Thank you for the advice. I'll try to collect these numbers and maybe put a stop to it ; )

Calls coming from someone asking for money are exempt from the do not call list because they are most likely registered as a charitable organization.Maybe we should all register our names and numbers as the same and we can call them and ask them for money!! I don't mind giving to a charity if I see where it goes, but I work hard for my money and these telemarketers are no different than panhandlers...
