I know most of us have received an email at one time or another informing we have just won $3 million and to supply information, or that Sgt. What's his name needs to put $26 million in my account until he gets back from Iraq. I am trying to inform as many people as I can that there is something you can do about these emails (other than replying to them using very explicit cuss words like I used to!). The following information is found on the United States FBI website (do a Google search of FBI office email scams). They produce an email address that you forward the scam emails to, and with any luck, if enough people do this, we can drastically reduce the number of people that send the scams. Here is a quote off the FBI website:
To report potential e-scams, please go the Internet Crime Complaint Center and file a report. Note: the FBI does not send mass e-mails to private citizens about cyber scams, so if you received an e-mail that claims to be from the FBI Director or other top official, it is most likely a scam.
If you receive unsolicited e-mail offers or spam, you can forward the messages to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.
Save this email address in your contact list, label it FBI scam (or something to that nature) then just forward scam emails to that address.
More can be read at. http://www.fbi.gov/scams-safety/e-scams
I hope this helps give people a sense of at least being able to report these dirtbags!
Good Luck!
