I BOUGHT A  CHATEAU D'AX DOUBLE RECLINER SOFA  ,  WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN ITALY OR CHINA  AND  I TOLD THE SALESLADY  I DID NOT WANT ONE MADE IN CHINA, THEN SHE SAID OH I THINK THEY ARE MADE IN ITALY.  I TRAVELED 500 MILES TO PICK UP AT THEIR WEARHOUSE AND GOT HOME AND UNPACKED THE SOFA, AND TAGS ALL OVER IT SAYING  MADE IN CHINA  AND IT DOES NOT EVEN FEEL OR LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE MACYS STORE I SAT ON FOR A LONG TIME.  AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE TAG SAYING IT IS A  CHATEAU D'AX SOFA, AND THE COMPANY IS AN ITALIAN COMPANY SO WHY WOULD THE SOFA BE MADE IN CHINA ?????  I THOUGHT ITALIAN SOFAS WERE MADE IN ITALY.   AND I DEFINITELY TOLD THE SALESLADY I DID NOT WANT ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA......

I am not a lawyer but I am under the impression that law requires disclosure of material and where a merchandise is manufactured. Otherwise, merchants would not disclose that VWs are made in Mexico and Mercedes manufactures some in the US. Unfortunately, recent deregulations and lax enforcement of existing laws have opened the door to deceptive behaviour on the part of some merchants. As far as I am concerned, Made in Italy, or Romania, or China does not cut it. When we pay thousands of $s, we are entitled to know if the product is made by techicians who have worked all their life in the field or by $3 a day ex Chinese farmers.

As the consumer and the person paying for the product she has every right to decide where the product she buys is made.  This person was obviously mislead and should report it to the Atty. General's Office in her state.  I am also looking for a sectional and do not want an item made in China.  China products do not have the quality I expect when I pay for the item with my hard-earned money.  The consumer has the right to get what they feel they are paying for and if she made it clear to begin with that she didn't want an item made in China, she was misled.  Jane (or whoever you are), I suspect you are a Chinese goods importer and that is why you made the statement you made.  If the Chinese want us to buy their products, they need to take a stronger role in their quality control.

This is for specifically for you - I hav ehad problems with this company also  in particular Mark. I am in the UK and Ireland and will be instituting proceedings for breach of contract fi they are not forthcoming in resolving the problem.
I would suggest that you mail them again - to all three names three and keep a copy of the mail. If you have no luck, let me know, we can always join the proceedings.

the computers you goofballs are posting from are made in china.

claudia is crazy and the rest of you spell worse than 9 year old Iqra.

If you want to purchase domestic or european goods that is your right, but it will cost you more than the difference in quality.

Chateau d'ax are designed in italy and made in china with italian leather.  You should be upset at your american saleslady not the chinese factory assembling an italian designed product.

Also, shut off your capslock, its ignorant.

      Oh poor Loren,

I think you mean "it[']s ignorant".  And that statement you made about caps lock is merely an opinion, not a statement.  You're ignorant.

Claudia is not crazy.  My Chateau D'Ax leather sectional, made in China, has numerous flaws that did not appear until a month later.  I paid big bucks for this sofa, and I absolutely feel the quality is lacking.  My american made sofa that I recently gave away was built so much better, (the leather. was fading).  It was 12 years old; a Palliser, but the cushions and padding were still holding up.  This is the first time I've bought furniture from China; never again!

    OK - you lose, too!

We went to Macy's - bought the Chateau d'Ax set - summer 2007, and within a year, the foam core buckling underneath, and leather coming off.

Made in China, covered w/ Italian leather, which they never told yu before. Now they do warn you - the Macy's tags say -' Could be made in China, Brazil, or Romania with Italian leather covering.'

We bought a sectional from Macy's by Chateau D'AX and I just called Macy's to let them know that all the color is coming out of the leather on one side of the sectional and it looks like [***] now. They said to contact this Italian Company and see if they can repair it. Yea sure, like they are going to do that. We paid a lot of money for this stuff, why should I be repairing it with MY money, when it's their error. The dye lot did not obviously take on part of the couch. I now have a sectional in 2 different colors and I am embarrassed to say the least when people come over and of course mention or ask if we have 2 different pieces of furniture that don't go together. NEVER again will I buy from Macy's or anything by this Chateau D'Ass people. Waist of money!!

I was not at home when my Chateau D'Ax sofas were installed.  I want to know how do you take them apart for moving?  I have the sectional but could not find any info about how you take the pieces apart for moving.  Any ideas or photos?

    wow
You people complaining about China need to calm the heck down. Chateau D'ax was the company in charge of sourcing out the work and making sure the materials are up to snuff. The fact that they went to China is obviously a cost cutting measure and the materials they used were obviously approved by Chateau D'ax. Also, the majority of complaints about the furniture from this company are for the quality of the leather. The last time I checked, the leather was sourced directly from Italy. If there is anybody to blame here, it is Chateau D'ax and the Italians that run it. I do not want to hear any more China bashing you ignorant ****s unless you have some valid points to bring to the table.... And I second the notion that Claudia is a crazy lady.
