I BOUGHT A  CHATEAU D'AX DOUBLE RECLINER SOFA  ,  WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN ITALY OR CHINA  AND  I TOLD THE SALESLADY  I DID NOT WANT ONE MADE IN CHINA, THEN SHE SAID OH I THINK THEY ARE MADE IN ITALY.  I TRAVELED 500 MILES TO PICK UP AT THEIR WEARHOUSE AND GOT HOME AND UNPACKED THE SOFA, AND TAGS ALL OVER IT SAYING  MADE IN CHINA  AND IT DOES NOT EVEN FEEL OR LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE MACYS STORE I SAT ON FOR A LONG TIME.  AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE TAG SAYING IT IS A  CHATEAU D'AX SOFA, AND THE COMPANY IS AN ITALIAN COMPANY SO WHY WOULD THE SOFA BE MADE IN CHINA ?????  I THOUGHT ITALIAN SOFAS WERE MADE IN ITALY.   AND I DEFINITELY TOLD THE SALESLADY I DID NOT WANT ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA......

i can tell you that from the whole collection chat. dax there are only
4 or 5 models made in italy all the others are made in china polen romania etc. the foam they are yusing is from a very low quality . But you have to understand that chateau d'ax is a company that lives from MUCH PUBLICITY VERY EXPENCIF prices for LOW quality for all matrials they are yusing even
most off the (leathers).Look for the smell of leather you can't find it in a
sofa made by "CHATEAU D'AX" Italy !!!!!!!!

Indeed Chateau d'Ax is not the guilty party here, because everybody wants CHEAP sofas. To satisfy you idiots, things are imported from China... because you do not want to pay the full price.
You would like to purchase some quality furniture made in Europe ? Buy the French Roche Bobois furniture.

I have a Chateau D'ax leather living room set and i have had it for over 8 years and its still going strong. My entire family uses the sofa, so it really gets used. The company is a very good company for the money, it you guys want better furniture then spend more money. An almost everything is made in China even if its said its made some where else. I used to sell furniture for 5 years and you learn alot. There is nothing wrong with things made in China.

    Torn Leather
We purchased several pieces of furniture around April 2007 and now we have several tears in the leather.  The company says that they only guarantee the leather for 1 year (What crap.  We paid >$2000US and would expect this to last longer than 20 months.  What am I to do?

Thanks everyone for posting their concerns about Chateau D'Ax leather. I saw a pair of chairs in Macy's yesterday for $1,099 each. The label said they were Italian leather but if they are made in China I don't want them.  In Europe last year there were horrible problems with Chinese leather. The furniture was being shipped after being sprayed with a banned preservative to stop mold during shipping. Once people got home and their body heat warmed the preservative they got chemical burns on their legs. Search google for "Chinese Sofa Chemical Burns" and you'll see what I mean.

I sell Chateau D'ax, and think it is a great buy for the investment.  It's all leather, no vinyl, and holds up well for family and pet usage.  I have a sofa, and have been very pleased with it.

I currently work in the furniture industry and am amazed at what I am seeing posted here. First, the vast majority of furniture sold in the U.S. is imported from China. This is a result of the Wal-Mart effect, so thank Sam Walton if you don't like it. Secondly, if you are simply looking to avoid all merchandise from China I wish you the best of luck. Just about everything from clothing to childrens toys in made their.

And I agree, Clauida is CRAZY

Why are any of you buying furniture from Macy's to begin with. What do you expect? Macy's is a department store that features a furniture department. They are not a furniture store and do not employ furniture experts. Next time you plan to buy furniture go to a furniture store or hire an interior designer to help you. You will be given all the information your request fairly and honestly, no suprises.

You must be living in the dark ages Macys has 50,000 sq ft and up furniture gallerys. And yes their salespeople go through more traing than most of you so called furniture sales people. You are sooo arrogorant, you must think you are the best.
