I BOUGHT A  CHATEAU D'AX DOUBLE RECLINER SOFA  ,  WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN ITALY OR CHINA  AND  I TOLD THE SALESLADY  I DID NOT WANT ONE MADE IN CHINA, THEN SHE SAID OH I THINK THEY ARE MADE IN ITALY.  I TRAVELED 500 MILES TO PICK UP AT THEIR WEARHOUSE AND GOT HOME AND UNPACKED THE SOFA, AND TAGS ALL OVER IT SAYING  MADE IN CHINA  AND IT DOES NOT EVEN FEEL OR LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE MACYS STORE I SAT ON FOR A LONG TIME.  AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE TAG SAYING IT IS A  CHATEAU D'AX SOFA, AND THE COMPANY IS AN ITALIAN COMPANY SO WHY WOULD THE SOFA BE MADE IN CHINA ?????  I THOUGHT ITALIAN SOFAS WERE MADE IN ITALY.   AND I DEFINITELY TOLD THE SALESLADY I DID NOT WANT ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA......

People need to get a grip and realize that as long as they are not willing to spend the amount of money it costs to produce the highest quality and support a company trying to stay in business they will have to settle for less.  Remember the old saying...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!
You will get your best values from well established full time FURNITURE retailers who are able to negotiate the best deals for you with the manufactures.

    Claudia, you are tooooooo funny.

Thank you everyone for posting. We were looking at the sections this weekend.  It does not bother me that the products are made from China, so are most things. What does concern me is the workmanship and quality that goes into the product. Based on the reviews posted, Chateau D'ax is lacking both. Again, thank you and your post have been very informative.

Why do people buy cheap furniture in the USA? I lived there for a while and found their taste so apalling, nothing suprises me!
If you want quality leather for furnishings don't you understand hide from a sciver? Do you ask what the frame is made from and how it is upholstered beneath the surface fabric?
Do you ask if the frame, if wood, is double dowelled, glued and screwed?
Is is coil sprung? What is the thickness of the hide? not forgetting a guarantee of a least five years on all parts.
I used to design furniture that was handmade in the UK and a hide from Andrew Muirhead in Scotland cost more than a Chateaux D'Ax chair.
If you but cheap, you get cheap. If you don't ask questions and get the correct answers, then it's your fault.
I have sold more handmade furniture to High Point, California than many.
Shop around, don't go for the quantity, go for quality and heep on asking questions until all your boxes are ticked.

I am planning to buy the "Visa Versa" modular sectional sofa made by Chateau d' Ax. This sectional allows you to move the pieces around and reconfigure easily.

After reading the complaints on this forum I am having second thoughts.

Does anyone own this sectional? Any feedback would be appreciated.

This is not a cheap sectional. Sale price at Macys is $3700.
    Thanks!

Yes, we have the Dylan sectional leather, from Macy's by Chateau d'Ax  (purchased July 2011)  We loved the couch at first, after about a year and us taking very good care of it (conditioning, cleaning, being very careful) the color started to come up, when we cleaned it with leather cleaner (one they recommended).  I called Chateau d' Ax and the rep. said they do not dye the leather all the way thru like they use too, BAD mistake, they are going to have alot of problems with the color coming up.  This sectional was $6,000, this is ridiculous, will never buy from this manufacture again.  We are currently trying to get a refund, this cleary is a defect. Also, started to notice sagging in the two cushions we sit in.  Hope this helps anyone thinking of buying from this company.

After having great italian sofas for over 16 years, its time to replace them. But I'm having a hard time deciding which brand is worth the money. So, what brand do you recommend? How much thickness should the hide be? What is the best frame? Should it be glued, screwed, or what?  What do you think of American Leather or Natuzzi? I find that most sales people just want to sell you what they have and don't really know much about what they are selling. Being to Macys and Raymour Flannigan which both claim to have Natuzzi, but who knows.

ok...now I am confused as well. I looked at a sofa by Chateau D'ax.  I was told it was leather by the salesperson. However, there were no tags that stated that. The only tags read made in china for the Italian company Chateau D'ax.  Do any of you have tags that say it is actually leather?

Just had a chateaud'ax sofa and loveseat delivered Tuesday.  As you said, no tags except for the one adhered to the bottom of the couch.  Italian company, made in China.  I feel a bit misled!  Told it was made in Italy.  Nothing says 100% leather.  Called Macy's and couldn't help me except give me the website of the company.

You've sold more furniture to High Point CA?  You sure you're talking about the right state?  High Point CA ISN'T well known for furniture. Surely someone that boasts of your furniture design skills would know what city/state in the US is known for quality furniture.  Either you made a serious mistake or you're an outright liar who likes to bloviate.  I think it's the latter. Speaking of tacky... that sir is YOU.

I have four pieces one straight back chair and ottoman a couch and loveseat........the tags on the bottom all read made in Italy, 2001.

My Chateau D'AX are wearing like iron.....I couldn't be happier.

Then again, mine was made in their factory in Italy.

She's not crazy, I found her sofa at the garbage dump and brought it home and it is full of stupid fortune cookies and crunches every time we sit on it.  She should have demanded a refund or exchanged for fried rice.

I bought a Natuzzi leather sectional couch and it is wonderful, has lasted for 14 years and looks like new still.  I think it was made in Italy before they started making their couches in China.
I know some of you think the Chinese made things are wonderful, but I happen to disagree.  They might make a few things OK, but why take a chance on there lead based paint on the childrens toys, and the poison they put in food items to use as cheap fillers, and who knows where the stuffing in the couches comes from.

It used to be that when you went in a furniture store you found a piece of furniture you liked and you bought it, and you got the piece you are looking at.  Now you go in a furniture store and find something you like and they get you a different one from the warehouse when they deliver it, or you pick up a different one from the warehouse.  YOU DO NOT GET THE ONE YOU ACTUALLY SIT ON AND LOOKED AT IN THE SHOWROOM.  When you get it home, if it is a couch, it can feel and look a lot different than the one in the showroom.  I have actually asked if I could have the couch I am sitting on in the showroom, and they will not let you buy that one. I wonder why ?
