I BOUGHT A  CHATEAU D'AX DOUBLE RECLINER SOFA  ,  WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN ITALY OR CHINA  AND  I TOLD THE SALESLADY  I DID NOT WANT ONE MADE IN CHINA, THEN SHE SAID OH I THINK THEY ARE MADE IN ITALY.  I TRAVELED 500 MILES TO PICK UP AT THEIR WEARHOUSE AND GOT HOME AND UNPACKED THE SOFA, AND TAGS ALL OVER IT SAYING  MADE IN CHINA  AND IT DOES NOT EVEN FEEL OR LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE MACYS STORE I SAT ON FOR A LONG TIME.  AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE TAG SAYING IT IS A  CHATEAU D'AX SOFA, AND THE COMPANY IS AN ITALIAN COMPANY SO WHY WOULD THE SOFA BE MADE IN CHINA ?????  I THOUGHT ITALIAN SOFAS WERE MADE IN ITALY.   AND I DEFINITELY TOLD THE SALESLADY I DID NOT WANT ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA......

    Thanx for all the info...I was just about to special order and purchase a chateau Dax sofa chair from bloomingdales for a big sale.  Glad I did my homework because I wouldn't buy it if it cost $1.99 now! I hate cheap poorly made super expensive furniture.
    Oh and by the way I think you are all crazy!! Do ur hw next time like me I'm a genius!! Buahahahaaa

    Claudia, for your information, international companies have production units in many countries, so does Chateau d'Ax. Dell's computer is an American company but they manufacturer or assemble in China. Iphone belongs to Apple, an American company but assembled in China, WV makes cars in Mexico and imports to the USA. Where the product is made is not important. Who has produced is important. Sony's greatest professional video camera are made in China. There is no comparison on the market.
    as far as difference in the quality, are you sure that you aren't influenced by the fact that it was made in China? I bought a Chinese Chateau d"Ax set three years ago from Macy's and my wife and I are really happy. we have six gran kids and they are all over the sofas.

    Hi dear freinds,

    I have to inform you about untruthful shopping website in below for just giving you information about these conmen sellers that they are selling some fake and imitation items with false description to deceive customers to buy something rubish products. Just be careful dealing with this shopping site because there is nothing protection from sellers,customer service and nobody will take responsible fo item's description. Maybe if you would notice to be deceived from seller they want to small partial refund you which would be still nothing. Please spread this message in large space of internet for other people.

    Through my research, many high quality companies manufacture out of China for several reasons, including quick shipping around the world, hig volume manufacturing with low overhead (giving you the prices you see and not much , much more), or to run production to be overlooked by the designer (designer's home).  Many companies are Italian design, or other country of origin, but Chinese produced.  NOT ALL CHINESE PRODUCED PRODUCTS ARE BAD.  IT IS UP TO THE CONSUMER TO DO DO RESEARCH IF THEY ARE NERVOUS ABOUT THEIR PURCHASE OR IF THEY FEEL THEY HAVE GOTTEN INCORRECT INFORMATION.  Many chain stores are so massive that they buy and sell in bulk, so do not take the time to learn the history of their product.  I recommend local companies, who specialize with imports.  Here is one I purchase from frequently, and call even for opinions from time to time: Ambiente Furniture - www.ambientefurniture.com

    no no no,  its a china nock off of chat cax and they just tell you chat dax as a sales gimick to make money.  you prob paid much less than they where asking everywhere else right? now u know y. its b.s i sell furniture i work in the industry and that is a popular gimik ppl use to decieve costomers

    lol...this is really funny...guess what....in China, the salespeople always tell you that Chateaud'ax is made 100% from Italy...however,there is a division of Chateaud'ax called Milano & Design, which is made in China, 100% imported Italian leather...I guess may be some of the made in China Chateaud'ax is actually made by this Milano & Design...www.mdmilanodesign.com...check out their English version

    I thank everyone who posted honestly about this product. I went to Macy's yesterday and again today to buy it for my client. I agree that the store model is made out of a higher grade leather because it looked and felt nice whoever it lacked the leather smell. I researched the manufacture company and found this. I went to school for furniture design/product design but am now in interior design. I must admit the incliners looked and felt good. I was moving them around the Macy's floor to take photo shoot for the client. It did not feel like an Ikea who uses injected foam with a regular brick inside for weight. Thanks again. It's true that most furniture company's design in the USA and produced in china. It's very hard to find good quality...makes me want to take a stab at designing furniture again. How about Ethan Allen even though they are farty?

    Some of the Chateau Dax leather furniture is being made in Romania and is considered very high quality by the furniture industry.  The managers in the Romanian plant are Italians.  This guarantees the highest quality in materials and workmanship.  The Romanians are considered world class workers in this market by the Europeans.

    WOO, lots of comments ha, chateau d'Ax is a really great company and so does its factory in China , if you talk about M&D it is the company's branding in China , take you chance to have one set of any of models for your home , believe it or not you will love it , and by the time you will be known what is a china product.
    Respect China, respect Chinese ,the future is theirs.......

    Hi,
    I own a High end Leather Furniture store in the NYC Metro www.theleathersourcebygil.com. I sell many brands of High end leather furniture. I can tell you this Chateau D'Ax makes product in Italy & China the Italian product is more expensive then the Chinese product but not necessarily better quality.

    If you want Quality leather furniture you have a few options.

    The one I recommend is made in Texas.

    I like Chinese unless they put too much garlic in the stir fry, then it gives me gas.  Personally, I stick with the Italians.....funny ain't it?

    I just received my new Chateau DAx sectional (Vise Versa) line. I read most of your post and to double check all my tags. All my tags says MADE IN ITALY. I paid over $3,500. And I am completely satisfied. I also have peace of mind due to the 7 year warrenty.

    I cant undestand some people. everything is from china these days, wheres your t.v, your car, your clothes. iam sorry but please wake up china makes everything. look up how many containers come into the us and the uk every week with goods. fools
