I BOUGHT A  CHATEAU D'AX DOUBLE RECLINER SOFA  ,  WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN ITALY OR CHINA  AND  I TOLD THE SALESLADY  I DID NOT WANT ONE MADE IN CHINA, THEN SHE SAID OH I THINK THEY ARE MADE IN ITALY.  I TRAVELED 500 MILES TO PICK UP AT THEIR WEARHOUSE AND GOT HOME AND UNPACKED THE SOFA, AND TAGS ALL OVER IT SAYING  MADE IN CHINA  AND IT DOES NOT EVEN FEEL OR LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE MACYS STORE I SAT ON FOR A LONG TIME.  AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE TAG SAYING IT IS A  CHATEAU D'AX SOFA, AND THE COMPANY IS AN ITALIAN COMPANY SO WHY WOULD THE SOFA BE MADE IN CHINA ?????  I THOUGHT ITALIAN SOFAS WERE MADE IN ITALY.   AND I DEFINITELY TOLD THE SALESLADY I DID NOT WANT ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA......

I heard the furniture is all assembled in China but the leather is made in Italy or Argentina. So the tags say "made in china".

Chateau d'Ax does have factorys in both Italy and China. It depends on what line you are buying. ALL the leather comes from South America. ALL of the leather is tanned and dyed in Italy. Depending on the "line" you buy it may be assembled in Italy or in China. If it is assembled in China it is assembled by Chateau d'Ax's quality guidelines. And these factorys are monitored and managed by Chateau d'Ax's Italian headquarters. If you look at the tags on the furniture you are buying before your purchase this will save you frustration in the future. Sometimes the salespeople are not even aware of which line is which. Just ask them to show you the tag. Some furniture stores carry "both lines". What ever it says on the floor sample tag should be what is on your tag when you recieve it. "Made in Italy" or "Made in China". If your furniture is not tagged it is probably a "knock off".

    Hopes this helps

    Not crazy at all
The consumer is within his/her right to be given accurate information so that he/she can make an informed decision. Being told one thing, paying for it, then getting something else, is just not right! I'm wondering who is the one that should take a chill pill.

    Compare Apples to Apples
The consumer is not going to Walmart to buy thousands of dollars worth of leather product!!! They are going to buy a good(s)that will be consumed in a fairly short time!

Wondering if anyone has had to contact Chateau D'Ax with a frame issue. We purchased a couch from Macy's in August 2007 and it's setup in our formal living room. We don't use that couch much, but this weekend while my husband and I sat on it, my mother in law noticed that it bent down too much right in the middle of it. We think the frame gave in but do not know for sure. I contacted Macy's and they said the frame warranty is only good for 3 years and we're out of luck. Now I need to contact the NC importer to see what they say, but was wondering if there is anything/anyone else I can contact or try.

    Thanks!

I just got the Chateau D'Ax Novarra Grey leather sectional and it is so disappointing.  My husband said that the boxes it came in were all stamped Made in China.  I called Macy's the next day as the sectional corners did not match up.  Some of the units were protruding out almost 2 inches and the recliner units were sticking out 1inch in the front which makes it not flush with the rest of the sectional.  We tried to get a replacement but cancelled because the reviews were bad for this sectional as well.  I noticed that the recliner end unit with arm sits low to the floor and uneven.  It reclines fine but now thinking maybe the frame is bent.  Why else does it sit so low on the floor and the other units is off the floor by about 1.5 inch.  I asked if I can get one that is Made In Italy and I was told to call back in a couple of days and the customer service rep gave me her extension number.  I will keep my fingers crossed until then.

I just purchased the novara five piece leather sectional from macy,s and was told by numerous sales people that it was made in Italy.    After receiving my furniture, I read the tag and it said Made In China.  This is a Chateau d, ax sectional.  I,ve had it two monthes and the cushions are sagging.  Now I read a post saying the foam in the cushions are only warranted for one year.  I am the only person sitting on this couch , so this is not normal wear and tear.  I do rotate sitting on different cushions to help with the sagging.  This sectional cost almost $4000 so it should not be a cheap version. I would like someone to reply to me, hopefully the "furniture guy" for advice on getting a replacement or a better quality Chateau d ax , if there is such a thing at Macys.

Avoid this brand. We made the mistake of purchasing a Chateau D/ax six-piece leather sectional from Macy's in Feb. 2011 before reading these reviews. We could have saved ourselves $3,000. The chocolate-brown sectional was wonderful to sit on in the showroom. It was supple yet firm and looked gorgeous. Six months later, it's still beautiful in our home. But it's terrible to sit on. The cushioning is completely blown out. The makers used a low-grade foam, and seats that were once wonderfully supportive now sink like an old beanbag chair. Your back starts to ache after 10 minutes of sitting. The sofa also lacks springs and instead uses "Pirelli webbing," which I understand is rubber straps. Whatever it is, the product has been a huge disappointment. Our particular model was built in Italy, not E. Europe or China as I understand some of CD's sofas are. It's made no difference. I notice Macy's no longer lists the sectional on their website and seems to have stopped selling Chateau D'ax altogether. I'm not surprised. We'd return it but live too far away to make shipping it economically worthwhile.

They still sell this brand.  I have one right now.  The seats are firm but we have it only for a couple of weeks.  I did call the next day about the sides and top of the couch is not flush and looks uneven for a sectional.  Now that we have sat on certain pieces when you get up the leather is stretched out and uneven maybe because of the filling or batting not done right.  My salesman will take care if we cannot rectify the problem.

We purchased a 100% leather italian sofa from Value City Furniture last year. It cost us around a grand with extended warranty. The leather is wearing fine however the frame is begining to sag and buckle right in the center. What a piece of junk. The store won't cover it either. We sold our 15 year old usa made berkline's which the fabric wore out but the frame was solid as new. Don't buy chinese junk and watch where you shop we will sell these and look at amish made furniture.
