I BOUGHT A  CHATEAU D'AX DOUBLE RECLINER SOFA  ,  WAS TOLD IT WAS MADE IN ITALY OR CHINA  AND  I TOLD THE SALESLADY  I DID NOT WANT ONE MADE IN CHINA, THEN SHE SAID OH I THINK THEY ARE MADE IN ITALY.  I TRAVELED 500 MILES TO PICK UP AT THEIR WEARHOUSE AND GOT HOME AND UNPACKED THE SOFA, AND TAGS ALL OVER IT SAYING  MADE IN CHINA  AND IT DOES NOT EVEN FEEL OR LOOK LIKE THE ONE IN THE MACYS STORE I SAT ON FOR A LONG TIME.  AND IT DOES NOT HAVE ONE TAG SAYING IT IS A  CHATEAU D'AX SOFA, AND THE COMPANY IS AN ITALIAN COMPANY SO WHY WOULD THE SOFA BE MADE IN CHINA ?????  I THOUGHT ITALIAN SOFAS WERE MADE IN ITALY.   AND I DEFINITELY TOLD THE SALESLADY I DID NOT WANT ANYTHING MADE IN CHINA......

I purchased a Chateau d'ax sofa and chairs, with a tag on the bottome that says "leather/tanning in Italy" assembled in China.  Well, the problem is that now my "leather" chair is peeling!  Guess what?  It's not even leather, it's some sort of synthetic material glued on to fabric!!!

Like one person said, over 70% of the furniture is made in China.  Labor is cheaper and materials are cheaper.  Know what you are buying.  One thing I can say, if what you are buying has a 5 year guarantee, that is all the longer it will last.  You buy a nice looking recliner or sofa for $500 or $1000 dollars (some are as low as $250) then you can bet your sweet bippee that is all it is worth and is made in China or some other country with very cheap labor.  It is definately throw away furniture.  You get what you pay for.  This is a throw away society so people buy at stores like Mor, Walkers, Macy's, Furniture Row etc.  The sad part is that the furniture is portrayed like it is high quality when in fact it is not.

Original Chateau D'Ax are made in Italy in this farm:
    http://www.chateaudax-france.com/chateaudax-entreprise.php

If you have chines stuff it is not chateau d'ax, chines stuff is knows to do imitation,
if they are better or not than italian one, I don't know, but usually they aren't.
For sure they are cheeper. So if you want to buy something cheeper, you don't need that people say you that this stuff is chateau d'ax. I don't understand all the comments in this web-site.
If you fine a chateau d'ax in which it it written "made in china", it is not chateau d'ax. It is not a brand
"like coca cola", it is a farm.

    Cheers,
       Biagio

I have two sofas by Chateau D'ax. Both clearly marked made in Italy.
I have owned them for over 10 years and find the quality very good.
They are white leather, the color has not changed and has stayed very soft.
    Very happy with the product.

P.S. Many of you are [***] insane.  Seriously, get some help.

We absolutely love the look of our Chateaux D'ax sofas. Our complaint is that the metals mechanism are not covered or protected in any way. We have always been concerned that someone would get hurt. We have toddlers over often who can easily just climb under.  Last night our new kitten somehow got wedged into the metal mechanism and almost died. He has punctured larynx and may not survive. This product should be reviewed for safety.  If you have young kids or small pets this is NOT a SAFE product. Beautiful, but not safe. I'm calling Macy's today to file a complaint. We don't want these anymore.

    We also bought a living room set at Macy's and were sold a''Leather set which included sofa, love seat,and matching chair''on sale @ a greatly reduced PRICE of 1,833.00,A SAVINGS OF OVER 1/2 RETAIL!!! Sounded and felt like a good or rather great deal,right? That was on Jan. of 2005! Well i'm not talking warranty period here,i'm talking deceptive products that are being sold as something that is not,in this case they are selling the customers a very,very cheap type of vinyl that is peeling off the backing of the fabric!!! A company such as macy's or foley's has to adhere to better sales ethics and know what they are selling and be honest to it;s customers;
THIS IS NOT A LEATHER SET THAT WE ARE SELLING YOU BUT A VERY CHEAPLY MADE PIECE THAT IS COVERED IN SOMTHING THAT LOOKS AND FEELS LIKE LEATHER BUT IT'S NOT!

Wow was looking for product complaints before actually considering purchasing (this time, a mattress) from Chateaux d'Ax.  I think not, after reading the thread that you started, Claudia.  I cannot believe they are actually delivering faulty products (improperly labelled, no origins given or whatnot) They should definately be brought to task about it.  But the thread is too funny.  Even the person accusing the others of spelling errors has made a few.  I feel like sharing this one!  But seriously how do you purchase anything these days with confidence when one year later you risk having a product that has already started falling apart?  Are we supposed to build our own, with piled up dirt, chicken wire and grass?

Actually, real Chateau d'Ax are either made in France or in Italy. If it's made in China, you got a knock-off (by the same brand). I know that Chateau d'Ax reserves its made in Europe products to the European market. In the US and the rest of the World, they sell exclusively the cheaper ones made in China.
