thanks TaxACT for SCREWING ME OVER

I e-filed for my first time this year, and I decided to use TaxACT online because a family member of mine had recommended it. The whole process was unusually simple and I received my confirmation emails that the IRS had received my return that day. Great!

Last week, a whole 4 MONTHS after the deadline, the IRS sent me a letter stating that I had never sent in my forms. I calmly called the TaxACT tech support line, where they told me if I wanted to know what went wrong with my filing I would have to pay to upgrade my membership. PAY AGAIN TO SEE WHAT THEY DID WRONG?!?!?!?! It is ridiculous and a scam, and I would hope that nobody would use their program ever again. I hope nobody else is put into my poor position now, thanks TaxACT for SCREWING ME OVER!

I strongly recommend you use someone else. I have been using TaxACT for a few years now and every year it seems to get worse.  I let them do my Michigan return and they said I owed $736.  I couldn't believe it so I downloaded all the instructions from the Michigan.gov web site and found that TaxAct didn't transfer all my pension (non-taxable) income from my Federal return to the MI return.  I wrote them and they showed me how to "fix" THEIR error, which I did. I actually have a small refund coming!   I asked them how many other MI returns had this same error and wasn't caught?  You wouldn't believe the double talk BS in their reply.  I will try someone else next year.

Filed my taxes by the deadline and IRS says they did not receive payment from Tax Act. After several calls to Second Story (d/b/a Tax Act) they kept transferring me between Technical Support and Taxpayer Services. They refuse to investigate and blame the IRS. After three years of no problems I will never use again.

I did e-filing my returns on 6/22 but today is 6/26 and still did not get IRS updated email on eith accept it or reject it. Then I call IRS and they told me they did not receive my return. But  I did got message from Tax Act that a valid return has been received by IRS. Was anything wrong with Taxact e-filing function? Do you have the same issur? what a hassle!

I filed mine last week said mine was fine and accepted then all of a sudden I checked again two days ago only to get an email saying that my refund could not be deposited into my account and instead they would go through Republic bank and send through a check instead and there is no way to switch it back. THEN I get back on today checked only for it to tell me that my refund was applied to a past due obligation such as: child support, or federal debt. Absolutely bullSH I don't have kids and I don't have any debt this is complete bullcrap. This was my first year filing online with TAXACT and I now know I will never do again. Nothing but problems with them.

Manders....Did you try calling the IRS about the issue?  If they intercepted your refund, they should have mailed you a letter indicating that they would be doing that.  They can confirm if they did intercept it and clear anything up with you.  If it truly is a mistake on thier end, the IRS will help you figure it out to get your money back.
Of course, folks......a good trusted tax preparer is a good investment when you have headaches like this.

I filed my 2011 tax return with taxact and apparently someone at the company changed all my info and had my refund sent to a prepaid visa. I am still fighting that battle trying to get this rectified. of course when I call in I can't get info because email address as well as some other info has changed. I asked if I can send in my id & ss to be able to get some info and I was told no. the last person I talked to said I should received a call from corporate that has been over 4 months ago. So beware of TAXACT.

Beware of TaxAct - this software allowed errors to be e-filed and resulted in an amended return being filed to get a refund of miscalculated tax owed.
It allowed a incorrect entry to be made in the total Social Security benfits received worksheet that did not agree with the ss-1099 that was filled out in the "basic info" section. It also allowed an incorrect mis-entry into the "railroad benefits" box that had NO 1099-rr filed out to support that income. The error showed up in 1040 line 20a.
These entries resulted in a miscalculated tax owed - they also allowed an e-file and none of the errors were caught in the "alert check" process. If a 1099 exists in the basic info, no entry should be allowed that does not match that exactly.

Taxact is a huge scam. They got me for$40 as it said if I pay early I get a discount if I pay for premium.  However they wanted another $37 to send my taxes. SCAM.

I have used TaxAct in the past and been happy. However this year, 2016 filing, TaxAct insisted I owed $1140.00. I sent in my return with a deposit for the money owed. In a  couple of weeks I got a letter from the IRS telling me a "mathematical error" in my return had been corrected and I will be receiving a REFUND! I thought I was going to be making payments for months and instead I am OWED A REFUND. this is nuts! How can TaxAct make a MATHEMATICAL ERROR like that?!

Pre ordered, at the end of last year's tax season, the software for the coming year. Next tax season rolls around and they send out a notice that they cannot do it because of a problem with my (entirely valid) credit card. So they canceled the order.

Then you go to their website to re-order but it is at a SIGNIFICANTLY higher price. This IS NOT the first time this has happened!

Has anyone been able to print IRS Form 4562 for 2017 from TaxACT Desktop version? It keeps telling me to wait for an updated version, but every time I check for updates, I'm told I have the latest version. How long will I have to wait? Is there any excuse for this.

I am using TaxAct for few years and every year their advertisement is deceptive saying that Federal and State income tax returns are free but  there is a charge for Federal and State that you find in the middle of completion of all the required forms. One other thing if you leave without completing both Federal and State forms and come back second day then all the data is gone and you have to start all over again.
