Give it Up!

I received another attempt to collect an old debt from you pleasant office today. I would really appreciate it if you would just go ahead and write off what your not going to be able to collect before the statute runs out. You know times are tough for everyone. It was not my intention to have anything go to collection. I am out of work! How do you people sleep at night. I will not be answering the phone, so move on to someone else. As soon as the statue is up, I will be removing you from my credit report. I have complete control over what is going on as far as my credit goes. I have dealt with people that understand what it is like to live wondering how your bills are going to get paid. I am deeply sorry but I can't help with your commission checks. I wonder how many people that work for collection agencies are in debt up to their @#%, so think about that. You are getting paid by someone else's distress.
Comments
1) all borrowing should be outlawed (sunshine too, it burns)
2) delinquent debt purchasers and debt collectors are predatory lenders (cart comes first then horse, right?) and they caused the '08 crisis (don't forget they planned 9/11 too)
3) God loves a good creditor and good debtor alike, but He frowns on interest (actually, the latest from Heaven is that He has come around to embrace simple interest, but He isn't there yet with compound interest.)
seriously, people. the only lucid remarks are from the former carson smithfield employee. he might be an [***], but he is right. when you borrow money, it is not yours to keep. if you loaned your car to a friend for a day and they took off with it for weeks, how many times (per hour) would you call them? Would you be pleasant? How would you respond if they turned the blame back on you for "unkind voicemails" and "predatory vehicle lending?" this is not complicated.
I'm not saying debt collectors are good, far from it. They do serve a purpose though. We all need to be adults and take responsibility for our debts. Ask yourself this question: if someone borrowed money from you, in the amount you owe your creditor, would you try to get it back?
Debts should be paid, despite hard times. There is always a way. And for those of you avoiding the debt collectors and waiting for the 7 year statute to be up, just remember that making payments on your debt builds your credit. If you wait for the debt to be removed without paying it off, it doesn't help your credit at all and basically makes you a thief.
