Salesman came to house newly bought, gave a spectacular presentation with water and food coloring. After an hour of insisting we could not afford it, he finally got us to take a 3 day trial. Salesman said to call him and he would cancel product by the third day otherwise we would be obligated to pay for it. Call the guy day before time was up and he gave us the run around, saying someone will be there to pick it up on a certain day at a certain time, no one came and finally the saleman said to us we have to send in paperwork to cancel product by third day, was too late for us mail man picked up mail from mail box already and the paperwork was postmarked one day late. Now we are stuck with a bill for $4900. Manager in office was very rude, hanging up phone and insulting. Don't fall for presentation, Our lesson learned.

We just spoke to a salesperson and it will cost us 9400 for the RO and the full system. It has a lifetime warranty (meaning our life not the life of the product), and service calls are included, plus if we move they remove the system and ship it and install, while maintaining the warranty, at their cost. My question for everyone is, is this too much to pay for this system when I seem to be getting more than what everyone seems to be complaining about? I know I asked about upkeep also for everyones troubleshooting problems here are a few things that they told me.
    1. Refill your salt every 6 months ($5.00 at Lowe's)
    2. Change your light bulb every 18 months ($25.00 at Lowe's)
    3. Change your RO filter once every 12 months or so (75.00 online)
Hopefully that helps somebody. We live in NC where the water is awful everywhere it seems, I am hoping that the good outweigh the bad in this situation. I looked both companies up already and I have only seen positive reviews about the installing company out here. After reading this site I am skeptical. Please comment if you can help. Thank you

Furthermore I did just look up the warranty on the Avian and it says that we are supposed to do the routine maintenance on it, when it comes to the upkeep and the filters and such, to answer a question out there (Cheri).

HAve just been given the sales pitch. Did you buy the system? After much research I am very skeptical. And the "special price" good for only 3 days is $9,000. From what I read, this is much to high.

I wonder if its the same company.  I had the full thing and ro installed for 9400.  They give u enough free soap / cleaners to last for a long time.  After reading about how much less others r paying its enough to make me sick at my stomach.  Can an actual Avian rep validate some ballpark figures on their system?  I got the ultra cv and ro.  As a product it works extremely well so far, only had 2 months so far.  The company is elitewater systems also in the NC area.

Sorry it was 9000 not 9400.

That is way too much to pay for it. I got wrapped up in the salesperson's song and dance with the "free soap" and other promotional deals too. I payed about half of your quoted cost including installation. The system works well and does what it's supposed to do (filter the water), which is why I bought another system when I moved. This time I knew better and got it for a fraction of that cost. Lesson learned.

9000.00 really, First of all your getting ripped off, that system only costs the dealers around 1500.00 dollars and i know that because i sold water systems for avain and other companies, and then i found out that its all a quick rich scam so i started my own company and my price as a dealer for the ro is 400.00 and the main system is 750.00. Also theres a difference if its just a water softner or a water purification system.
      Any questions please call me

Had the whole song and dance in my kitchen with the dyes and everything else.  When told that I in no way could afford their $9400 price tag, the **office manager** was rude enough to ask me **well, what can you afford?** I declined to discuss my finances with him and terminated the visit.

I'd rather have an independent water test done by a lab that has nothing to sell to determine what my water quality is --

I bought my Avian Water System back in January of 2012. Every 90 days we have had the tech come to our house to adjust the water filter. Most time it would secrete black stuff through the lines. It was the carbon leaking through the lines. Now our toilets and sinks are stained, The tech told us it probably from the previous owners. The problem is that the house was 1 month old when they put it in. When we bypasses the filter all together the black stuff stops. Soooooo... Here we are three years later and still the sludge leaks from our appliances, faucets and toilets. The tech even told us he replaced the entire unit but we still have the same result. However when you by pass the filter NO SLUDGE! Every 90 days (Approximately) we have had the unit serviced. Each time it works for about 30 to 45 days and we spend the rest cleaning the appliances. I do not recommend an AVIAN system what so ever. Now if sometime between this review and my death they fix it I will  change my post. In fairness to AVIAN I do not believe its their filter system that has failed. I believe I have been scammed by the sales man who works for the local distributor of the system. Either way buyer beware. My system no longer works. It still cycles but obviously for no apparent reason. We dont have soft water and there is carbon and other materials leaking from the system.
