Intimidation is a common indicator of fraudulent debt collection.

Debt collectors using illegal and abusive collection tactics are often not licensed to collect in many states.
File complaints with FTC and your state AG.

I was contacted by NCS an they also left threatening message about legal action an etc to scare me about a Payday loan done to wells faro bank in Oct 31, 2010.  I have not had a bank account with wells fargo in over 5yrs.  Makes my daughter suspecious as they left same threatening voicemail on son law phone about me with all same specifics, which she says first is breach of privacy act for them to do so if legit... also when bring up my credit report a thing came up saying needed to mail report an needed copies of info to prove i am who same am... we are now thinking scam  an possibility identity theft an checking into it...
Funny that NCS left message again today asking if was able to come up with the 1100 they say owing or at least 100 to start payment plan... yeah right :(

Profile is consistent with a fraudulent "payday loan debt collection" shakedown racket.

      1)  Phony "debt" claim (you know you never borrowed from Wells Fargo in 2010)
      2)  Calls with illegal disclosure made to relatives that could only have been located through skip-tracing, indicating an attempt to coerce through public disclosure and embarassment to evade FDCPA validation.
      3)  Possible indicators of fraud connected to your credit report (may indicate a lender or collection agency has posted false or erroneous address information to your credit file)
      4)  Threat of "legal action" in the initial call
      5)  No FDCPA "g" letter that is  required by law to be sent within 5 days of first contact notifying you of the alleged debt and of your right to dispute it.  The shakedown scams don't want you to know you can dispute, and they don't want anything in writing identifying who they are and where they are located.

That's +5 counts on the fraud indicator index.

Same thing happens to me and its been going on for over 2 years.  Called Attorney Generals Office and anyone can use an application called Skip Tracer which not only has your name on it but all your relatives names and numbers so they can get this scam/fraud to get a message to you if you don't contact them.  They have called my father, brother and sister.  Scumbags!

Shakedowns always follow this script.. replies to Amy
Call relatives or coworkers to make vaguely (or blatantly) threatening calls, pretending to be a "process server" trying to "locate you to server papers", implying some "lawsuit".  Goal is to create panic, so that if you might have once had some old "payday loan" or "bad check", you start thinking that this might be it.
The "process server" leaves a number to call back, where you reach a "closer" with more experience than the "process servers".
The "closer" makes more implied threats, vaguely claims to have a claim to some "debt", which for some reason he can't provide any information on, but offers a "settlement".  If you want "documentation" they will try to pass off some emailed "settlement offer", and claim that's all they have to do, or "it's going to court".
The "process server" is free to lie all they want, and if you bring it up with the "closer", they'll just say those are "independent contractors" and they're not responsible for what they do.
There is no real "lawsuit", no one's being "prosecuted", you won't be "arrested", the caller isn't a "process server", there's usually not even any real "debt", at least not one YOU owe,  If there ever was some "debt", it may be for an illegal "payday loan", by an illegal unlicensed lender, maybe fraudulently made and trumped up with violations of TILA, and fraudulent bank charges.  It's all an act, and it's carefully constructed to use "plausible deniability" and hiding their identity and location to get away with it.

The fake "debt collection" shakedown scams commonly call relatives first, even when they know how to contact the intended victim.  The goal is to magnify the threat of this fake "lawsuit" so you settle without even any proof you owe them.

File complaints with FTC and your state Attorney General.

people PLEASE, this is a SCAM by [***] from INDIA, there is NO ACS LAW FIRM, NO NCS LAW FIRM, per my REAL attorney!  This is also a SCAM listed on the FBI's website, so they are NOT the FBI.  I got an email from them(no REAL attorney contacts you via email to advise you that you are being sued, by best friend's uncle is a lawyer, and when I showed him this he mail, he laughed till he cried).

Email them back, or if they call you, tell them you would LOVE to response, but you have to go kill a COW for your dinner and then, say "yummy - cows are NOT "gods" nor god like to me" - they will SCREAM  you are a BEEOTCH on the phone, but then they will eavel you alone

They called my working today threatening to send an investigator.  Their number is 877-739-8613.  They are a debt collector and claim to be an attorney's office.  I was told to "Shut my mouth" when I told them to stop harassing me and stop calling my work.  They disclosed information about said debt to a third party here at work including a docket number which was illegal!  Does anyone have an address so I can send a cease and desist letter.  They have violated 15 USC 1692c of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act for debt harassment and unfair collection efforts in the attempt of collecting said debt. If anyone can post an address for NCS Offices I would so appreciate it.

    Thanks.

from that same number you posted, they were able to press charges against someone I know. I don't know if they really had a debt or not, but it sounded like they kept calling her family and her until they had the info they needed. But now that she's paying them they said another payday loan just popped up. I live in sc can anyone tell me what they would have need to press charges?

phone numbers 1877-739-8612, 1-877-863-9157, 1877-357-7194.   I am keeping records and filing harassment charges soon.  This has been over years they have been trying to collect money from me I had already paid back.  They then try to tell me the company I paid was a scam and I made it up to get out of the debt.  They have threatened going to court, coming to my job, having felony charges on me for writing a bad check.  And every time I try and call to get the info to them about what I have done and who I have paid they get very nasty with me interrupting what I have to say.  They also gave me an e-mail address I tried to e-mail and it doesn't work.
