E-Tour & Travel in Florida

Country: United States
On 29AUG2007, I received a call on my personal cell phone from a man asking for me by my first and last name. He said where he was from (E-Tour & Travel in Florida). I asked him how he got my cell phone number, and he tried to tell me that I registered to win a free trip on their website. I immediately stopped him and said that I have NEVER been to that website, and did NOT register for anything. I told him to remove me from the list and hung up.

The number on my caller ID was 866-310-6877

A lot of other people have been getting their calls.  All have complained that they had never provided this outfit with their name and phone number, despite the telemarketer's claim.
    https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-310-6877

His call was a violation of the national Do Not Call list law, and the federal Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), both administered by FTC.

In the absence of an initial contact by you, not only are calls to those on the Do Not Call list prohibited, but ALL automatic dialer calls to cell phone numbers are also.  You don't have to register your cell phone.  See the FTC site.
    https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

    http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2007/02/dnccellphones.shtm
"Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry, so most telemarketers are barred from calling consumers on their cell phones without their consent. "

That is probably why he claimed you "registered to win a free trip", since lacking that initial contact from you, his call would be illegal.  Of course, you know you never did, so you know his call was, in fact, an illegal prohibited telemarketing call.

File a complaint for Do Not Call list violations on the FTC site.

Again they are trying to give away tickets for Florida Vavations.

Now when I asked them what their name was they said E-Tour travel.

Beware this is a scam and it looks like other reports have been made
    against this company.

So if you want to tell them to stop calling you I suggest
that you use some of the information above. I would not recommend
giving them any kind of personal information such as credit card
info this company does appear to be a scam.

How can you call them a scam company if people get the trip and everything? I was told I had to go to the timeshare presentation and I did. I didn't buy it, but got everything they promised. I saved a lot of money. So, in my eyes, that is not a scam.

I am getting calls from this number 3 to 4 times a day and also in the evenings. (866) 310-6877.  I do not answer these calls because I do not reconize the number on my cell.  I just called back this number and it is a tele marketing number called E Tour Travel.  They never leave a message on the voicemail.  So be aware of them calling your number.

I too am called 4-5 times per day, asking for Derek something ( not my name, not even my gender!) and I have now talked to 3 reps and a supervisor, all assuring me they will not call again - but they still are.  It has been almost 2 months, and the worst part is they are calling my cell phone so I am charged.  does anyone have any suggestions what I can do?  Is harrassment for sure, but I don'r think I can go to the cops.  I'm in Canada and we don't have a do not call registry.

They called me just after my mother was in a car accident and I was not thinking clearlly at the time.  My husband and I had just sat down to eat at a resturant and I just told them O.K. so they would leave me alone.  I was on vacation when they sent me the material and when I got home I did not have time to cancel it.  Mow I have read everything on the internet I feel that I have wasted my money and I don't want to take the trip.

I am always getting 5-10 calls from these fools every single day!  I am tired of it!  I never gave them my name or number, and yet they keep calling!  I am going to go to the BBB about them, too!

People its not a bad deal. You only pay about $400 to go on a vacation that would cost you about $1500. The only catches are that you have to buy your plane tickets and then you have to sit through and hour and a half about their timeshares which you dont have to buy. I have gone through them many times and still will. It's the cheapest vacation program out there. I love it.

I have been called by these jerks every day for about 2 weeks.  I don't answer because the name comes up, you guessed it, unavailable or unknown.  They are calling my cell and my home phone number.  I called back today and got hung up on 3 times when I asked to be put on the do not call list.  The woman, who I spoke to twice, said I had registered to win a trip or to take a trip.  When I tried to explain that I didn't and couldn't give my phone number, due to threatening phone calls that I have received in the past, she hung up both times.  The last call was a man, they never give their names, I told him the same thing and he hung up on me too.  If these people don't have anything to hide why do they always hang up on people?  The woman tried to tell me that they were not a telemarketing company and that they work with companies like Disney.  Sure you do.

I received a call from this company and the woman named Angie said I had won ya right ... I was totally confused. I feel I was misslead and conned into buying something instead of winning.  After phoning them back and asking them to cancel my package I was told package was already in mail and I would have to send it back.  That's exactly what I did and asked them to please reimburse me my money.  Today I phone to see what is happening since it has been over a month since I returned the package and I have not heard a thing from them and I am told that I was to phone them and cancel within 15 days of receiving the package .... I feel scammed I am not going to get my money back.  This company is very misleading ... and I also got hung up on in mid-sentence ... very rude.

I have received 2 calls from etour recently and each time I side-track them with small talk about Florida, how the southern part is all Miami Vice and how the northern part is scrappy and trashy and you remember the cartoon "Beavis & [***]"? I always thought they lived in northern Florida, etc., etc.,blah blah blah and it has been easy to engage the caller and take him off topic and waste his time... they don't call me as much as they seem to call other people.

they keep calling, but I put them in my cell phone with a silent ring, so I don't hear it or answer when they call. maybe they will stop.

Contact the consumer complaint division of your state's Attorney General' Office.  I did (after unsuccessfully contacting my credit card company), and I had a refund within two weeks after the Atty Genl's office sent them a letter.
