My dental office was scammed by this company as well: $676.80.  They called threatening to report my business to collection agencies, and played a falsified recording of someone in my office agreeing to pay them.  They are located in Bethesda, MD 800-777-4126 and the person who called me was Alyssa Anderson.

Same deal as all the above.  We are a health club.  Same bill, 676.80.  Our collection agent's name is Brian Foster, although if you call him, he just answers, "hello", so I think he probably uses different names... but anyway... 1) file a complaint with the Florida BBB. 2) File a complaint with the FTC.  3) Contact GoDaddy web hosting- they are the internet provider of their web site -www.lbypages.com and file a complaint, 4) ASk them to MAIL you the bill- by the act of mailing you a statement, they are committing mail fraud and you can contact the USPS and file a complaint with them.

Our office got hit in Alabama by local business yellow pages based in Maryland.  Same story to a tee as those above.  We did not pay and disputed it with these so called collectors on the phone.  We filed complaints with the BBB, the FTC and our state attorney generals office.  When they called, we told them they weren't getting a red cent from us and that we had reported them. That didn't deter them in the least.  I guess they thought we were bluffing.  They finally talked to the physician boss of the office and threatened to sue him.  He told them to come and get it .  The BBB tried to do something but they didn't seem too afraid of them. Things settled quickly after the attorney generals office stepped in.  They cleared our account and we have a written resolution that they can never contact our business again.  If they do, all I have to do is let the AG office know.  It's been quiet ever since!  DO NOT pay them.

I am an attorney who represents a client in Louisville, Ky. that's been subject to the scam out of Miami being discussed here.  Let me guess....the address of the Local Business Yellow Pages is 801 Brickell Avenue, Suite 900.  Sound familiar???

After several harassing calls and faxes from a clown named Brian Foster, I send a letter demanding that the calls and faxes cease and that any further communications be directed to me.  Two weeks later the client got a fax from the legal department of the Local Business Yellow Pages.  So I called the guy in the "legal department" and actually got to speak to a real person...god knows where he was.  He gave me this banter about how they were legitimate and followed the Uniform Commercial Code.  Having practiced business law for 21 years, I know BS when I see it.  This guy was total BS.  When I reminded him that the Uniform Commercial Code only concerned the sale of goods...and that what his company peddled was a service...his response was "well, our lawyers will deal with that".  My response was "that will certainly be a nice trick indeed".

My advice would be to not pay anything these clowns demand....and stand firm to all their BS...

Both the honest and the dishonest will tell you how honest they are.

"801 Brickell Ave" is a Regus "virtual office" location, basically a bunch of rooms and a receptionist with mail forwarding.  Why don't you give Regus a call and ask them about the wire fraud racket they are renting to?
Maybe call the Florida Attorney General while you are at it.  Calling RCMP might accomplish more.

These scams are generally hiding safely in Canada, probably in Montreal, which is a major center of cross-border telemarketing fraud.  So much fraud is centered there that BBB did an article a few years ago about all the mail forwarder customers there are in Champlain NY, conveniently right across the bridge from Canada.

I got a phone call 2 weeks ago claiming I owed 729.88. I had never received a bill. They had a recording of me saying yes , that they played it for me. I remember the phone call, but there was no mention of money on that call that I heard. I was told that it was for local yellow pages that was a free service, although that was NOT on the recording. I asked several times, if there was a charge, but was told no.  The number was blocked.

I had the same thing happen to me. The amount owed 729.88 and they also had a recording of me too. Did you happen to get the name of the collection agent? The lady that called was named Shauna and the mailing address was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Same song and dance here.  Alyssa Anderson with Local Business Yellow Pages in Miami FL, crappy recording of one of my employees saying "yes". Bill sitting at $810 with interest, administrative, and legal fees added.  Threatened that the next correspondence from them would be a subpoena.  They will not get a penny out of me.

I added one more complaint to the 500+ reported to the BBB as well as filed complaints with the FTC and the Attorneys General in both Colorado and Florida.

Had an issue with this punk outfit as well.  Took 5 min. to check out on the net a find out it was a scam.  Had a conversation with Jason Betz aka ???? where I called him out as a fraud.  He agreed and said, "Pretty cool scam huh!.  Bet you wish you had thought of it!"  Amazing how free of guilt this lil POS is.  Got nothing from me.  Hope I can find him someday in a dark alley.  I would have no remorse for the beating he would receive.

Keep your eyes open folks!  The beast is out there and wants your $$$$!

If he calls again, ask him how the weather is in Montreal.
