Warrant Claim

Complaint Rating:
I am writing to explain an ongoing problem that I have had in trying to obtain a replacement pump Model 635 from an Intex 24 X 12 pool set that I purchased June 3rd, 2007 at a Canadian Tire store in Canada.

The pump only lasted approximately 2 weeks before it ceased to function any longer and I immediately contacted the INTEX service department in California for a warranty replacement, detailing the circumstances in a letter and faxing the information as requested. I called after I had faxed the letter (and original proof of purchase receipt) to confirm that the fax had been received. I was told that it had been received and the warranty claim approved and that I should be receiving my new pump within 2 weeks.

On July 31, 2007, having not received the pump I contacted the consumer department again to be advised that they had no record of my original claim and that I should send the information again. I promptly did so and followed up with another phone call to confirm that they received the fax. Upon confirmation I was told that the fax was received and approved and that I should anticipate my replacement pump in about 2 weeks. I advised that I would follow up with another phone call to obtain a confirmation number which I did on August 01, 2007.

I contacted the company again in mid August to be advised that the pumps were “back-ordered” and it would be approximately 2 week before I received my replacement.

Today, September 5, 2007, I contacted the company again to determine the status of the pump. In mid August I was directed to the website to confirm that the company was out of stock on the model 635 pump but noticed that it no longer indicates that as of this date. I was advised initially today that no record exists of my warranty claim but when I gave the woman my confirmation number she then put me on hold and advised upon returning that it would be another 3-4 weeks for my pump to arrive because they are “back-ordered.” I pointed out that I was advised of this before and directed to note the “out of stock” claim on the website but now the website makes no such claim. She then told me that “Canadian’s are different.” I politely told her that I will have been waiting almost 3 months based on her estimate for a replacement pump and that I needed to contact someone else in the company to lodge a formal complaint. She told me that the supervisors were on discrete extensions and that there was no one to contact. When I questioned this and asked for her name, she promptly hung up on me.

I have been patient, I have been polite, I have been willing to be stroked along with all of the mishandling of this very simple claim, but frankly…that is the final straw.

I work in aviation as a supervisor of 10 and if I allowed any of my staff to behave this way towards any of our stakeholders or to not honour the company intent for customer satisfaction I would lose my job. I have NEVER been party to such carelessness or disdain in customer service relations before in my life. I purchased the swimming pool in good faith and was only able to use it for a very short time, even planning my family’s vacation around it.

My intent is to contact the major Canadian retailers of INTEX products and advise them that their customers should beware of false warranty information and lack of commitment by INTEX to expedite simple claims. It would appear that this company DOES NOT stand behind it's warranties. Perhaps the major retailers might reconsider stocking INTEX products. INTEX is a HONg KONG based company and it would seem another in the long line of Chinese companies with production, warranty and service issues.

Bought an Intex easy set pool last July. We set it up and all was great. This year the pool had decided to spring a leak. With that one leak we noticed many more small leaks. We had to drain the pool and patch the leaks. Once we had it about halfway filled again, it sprang another leak and we patched it. It has been about three weeks and due to the lovely daily rain the kids have not gotten to use it. We were outside and noticed the pool was not overflowing as it should have been and after a walk around found water on the ground and another leak. Right now I have an empty pool in my backyard and of course no warranty as Intex only offers a 90 day warranty on the liners. Going to try to patch this leak and see what happens. My only fear is that another leak will appear and the patching game will keep happening.

well apparently they have changed their warranty to only 30 days. I got my pool in January 2013 and stored it still in box in my garage until july 2013. when i went to begin setup of pool I see holes in the bottom of it and of course walmart will not replace it for me. So I called intex and filled out claim form and got rejected because it is over the 30 days. They are ridiculous and apparently do not stand behind their product so I will NEVER buy another thing from them or from walmart. Very very frustrated with companies and their products.

After on summer season in Michigan, I put my pull pool away for the winter and after setting it up this season and starting to fill it up, there were cracks all around the pool liner in the bottom and after talking with associate I couldn't understand, they say they have a ninety day warranty in spite of them describing their liner as tough and durable. I'm pissed

We purchased the 18' intex pool and bought their saltwater system.  This was in July 2012, so you know it didn't get used that much (cold water).  Put it up and this year, mid July, the saltwater system stopped.  I don't know how to "upload" on the computer so I faxed my receipt and filled out form for my claim.  They have yet to acknowledge that they have it,   3x they have told me to fill out form, I did!  I called today and the person basically hung  up on me.   I DO NOT recommend the INTEX pool.

we bought the Intex Ultra Frame Pool set, 18'x52" last summer. Used it for less than one season and the liner tore. Tried calling Intex for replacement liner and was told by the customer service agent, who barely spoke English, that the product has been discontinued. I asked to be transferred to the corporate office in America and was told that was not possible. SHAME ON YOU INTEX

I purchased a intex 26x52 circular above groung pool 2 years ago and after setting it up in the same location and using the same method it has 12 leaks. I called Intex for some help. They said the warranty had expired and there was nothing they could do for me. The customer service supervisor was RUDE and so UNPROFESSIONAL I could not talk to her any more so out of pure frustration I hung up and will NEVER buy an INTEX pool again.

I just purchased a new liner for my metal frame 18' x 48" pool.  When we put it up we discovered it had three holes instead of TWO! I called Intex customer support and they said it is a new design and I would need to purchase new fittings.  I got the part numbers and ordered the parts online (another $39 added to the cost), but I asked how to assemble the new parts and they told me to refer to the website!  Funny.  All of the videos on the website are from 2014 and later.  This new design is nowhere to be found.  I checked You tube and there was no help there.  I called again and they sent me another website -- same stinking videos.  No help.  I just emailed the company and asked for some instructions on how to set up this new design, but I'm not sure when I will ever hear from them.  Soon I will be rigging this pool with my own new design.  It has been sitting outside for two weeks, half full and non-circulating.  Thanks Intex.  It is my last pool from them.

Also their pumps are crap.  We had to buy a new pump right away and I went to a real pool store and bought a real pool pump.  Still works great but in isn't an Intex pump.  I would never buy another pool set from them because of their pumps!
