Child Care Promises are Fake

LifeTime Fitness showed me their wonderful child care facility, and I thought that my child will be having wonderful time while I am working out. The first time we came with my 5year-old after signing the contract, I left her in the child care room. after the class I picked her up but she had tears in her eyes. I discovered that the climber and the computer room was closed, and she wanted to use those. Next day - same situation. Now, she refuses to go with me to the fitness center, because they limit what she can do.

I went to speak with the manager, and she told me that they keep the facilities closed when the number of children is less than 25. No one told me about this when we signed the contract.

I canceled my membership shortly, and don't advice any one to join this fitness.

We recently joined Lifetime in Katy, TX.  Love the facility but the Child Center was one of the most important reasons we joined.  It isn't panning out as well as we had hoped for my child.  Their is a lot of equipment but the employees don't really engage with the children.  My 4 year old was telling me that her "friend" was a girl who was 8 and she had been punching another boy repeatedly.  I said, "Oh no!!  I'm sure she was talked to about that!"  She said, "No, nobody said anything."  What?!  It is a bit disturbing that there are so many age groups together (8-11 year olds with 3 and 4 year olds!!) and I definitely never get the impression or hear anything that supports the idea that they are really watching the kids.  I don't feel like the situation is really safe for my daughter.  If she had an older sibling, maybe but not on her own.  We are considering switching to the Y because their  child care facility is better.  They have a schedule for the kids so you can plan your work out accordingly and they do interact and have story time, art etc. with them.  Most importantly, they split up the age groups so you don't have to worry about an 8 year old teaching your kid some bad behavior.

I've been going to lifetime fitness since 2005 and my daughter has since 2006.  I  really have no complaints. The membership is expensive but daycare is only 5 dollars a month.  My six year old daughter seems to like it. This is the only gym I know with a daycare. If you don't like it drop the 5 dollars a month and have someone else watch your kid or quite your membership. I go to champlin, coonrapids and maplegrove. I like lifetime accept prices and would recommend it if you use your membership. My daughter is always on the computer and gym.

Love everything about Lifetime except the childcare.  Please stop closing the tunnels and the gym for the kids!!!
Clean once you are closed.  Watch and interact with the kids when you are open.  If Lifetime Fitness is promoting a "Healthy Way of Life", how does piling kids up in front of the tv and computers line up with this concept.  This is basic Childcare 101.
This is a management problem and needs to be fixed!

I m sorry but our lifetime has been great for kids. however I have an ongoing lawsuit at our gym specifically the child care center for an employee calling my 4 year old a [***]. I am sorry but what employee does that? This one did!!! I highly dvise you to find a YMCA close and go there. Their child care employees are childcare certified!!!

As with all clubs there are pros and cons.  We use the Algonquin, IL one and each of my children can find an activity they enjoy which in turn makes it enjoyable for myself.  I love that my daughter is typically happy to go into the daycare or pre-school on the days they offer it.  The two hours that the offer free childcare (ok, paid for through the fees) is fabulous!  It does drive me crazy though having to hear some parents called to get their children, seems like there may be a few priorities mixed up in those cases.  The older kids have full rights to the entire gym (age based) so they literally disappear for an hour or so.  Staff is extremely friendly and club is clean.  Not always fond of the program hours as they conflict with the available daycare hours offered but things cant be tailored for everyone. :)  I wish that they offered more teenage/older kid events as even the rock wall etc are little kid based with the limited amount they can learn.
