We waited for our furniture for over six months and when it was delivered, everything was wrong!  They sent part 3 pieces that were from our order and the rest was not what we ordered.  All of the cushions were the incorrect color.  Did I mention that they have the worst customer service department!  Please do not ever purchase furniture from this company!

    The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to avoid several Minnesota-based on-line furniture retailers. Investigators accuse three sites, wholesalemoderndesign.com, lightgreydesign.com, and urbanhom.com of failing to deliver furniture people ordered, and refusing to grant refunds.

    Five Eyewitness News tried to locate him at two of his last known addresses, in Rogers, and in Monticello, to no avail.

    Shane McLaughlin is now scamming people by creating multiple websites.  They all look exactly the same but they keep popping up under new names so that new buyers can not find any information on them or his scam of a company.

    He is now even telling customers to send him checks and bank wires so that their credit card companies can not protect them.  He needs to be locked up and stopped at once!!!!

    If you have placed an order with any of Shane McLaughlin's companies and have been ripped off PLEASE contact the local police department in Rogers, MN and let them know what is going on.  If enough people complain and have proof they were ripped off they WILL take action and escalate this case to the FBI and Attorney General.

    Shane McLaughlin has been screwing people over for years and needs to be stopped!

      In 2010 I dealt with UrbanHom and had a terrible experience.  We ordered an outdoor daybed because the price was right and it was larger than similar daybeds.  The order was placed in April and delivery was made in December, but it was smaller than what they advertised and we ordered.  During the delivery delay they never returned phone calls and when they answered my emails, there was always an excuse.

      They did say they would give me a 20% discount for the shipping delay but when I complained that the item was not the right size, they ignored me.  I filed a complaint with the Minn AG but they did nothing.  Finally I contacted my CC company and they refunded my money.  A month or so later they emailed me asking where to send my 10% refund check.  I made the mistake of telling them to forget it and then they figured out the CC refund.

      They now demanded payment and even had a bill collector call me.  I told the bill collector I would pay about 25% less than the advertised price only because they item was well built and not much smaller than what we ordered.  To my surprise the bill collector said he thought that was reasonable and I never heard from him again.

      Urbanhom continued to pester and threaten me (they demanded I retract my various forum posts I had made to warn others) and finally, as advised by an attorney, I sent them a check for the amount I was willing to pay, and a "take it or leave it" letter.  They cashed the check and i never heard from them again.

      Why the State of Minnesota allows this guy to continue in business is beyond me.

        They have now changed their name AGAIN to Rugspantone.com. Same address, same antics. Not returning emails or phone calls& not sending customers their merchandise. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

          I operate several websites for marketing purposes only. Stop with the posts about me trying to gain customers this way. Please believe me, I don't need to gain anymore at the current growth rate but enjoy reading about how some people bringing you down online. It will never happen.

          "Rugs Pantone" you know to market to consumers looking for rugs?! I'm putting an end to this bs online.

        I believe we discussed your order being back ordered and you decided to cancel it. A refund was provided to you immediately. Unfortunately in your case, we happen to work with vendors and have no control over supply and demand. We attempt to sell what they have in stock at any given time as well as sell our own brand.

        Sorry we couldn't meet your needs and your BBB complaint will/has been removed.

    Any of you who have experienced issues with orders through any of my companies in the past reach out to me personally at shano102781@gmail.com. I will be more then happy to address and resolve any issue you have.

    Unfortunately there needs to be a very small percentage of unhappy customers who go post bad things about a company. I've also had several people who I've never done business with post bad stuff. I'm putting an end to it.

    I can honestly say the thing I'm most proud about in my entire life is not giving up on doing what I love or quit over some story that wasn't entirely true. I was able to fight through the mistakes I made early on building my company and improved the overall success rate of the company to 98%+ happy customers. Never once have I attempted to be an evasive fraudster like the story portrayed me to be. I am in the process of filing a defamation lawsuit against KSTP for their wrong doings of me as a person, my character and what I stand for. If the authorities were really getting involved wouldn't something have been done by now?

    I've dedicated my life to making things right professionally and continue to work hard to improve my company day in and day out.
