Today I received a call from the company noted above while getting into my car.  I was told I could make up to $38K by issuing refunds to people whom had paid off their mortgages and could make $400-$800 per refund proc'd while working at home.  I was leary of giving out my credit card info so had asked if they could send or email me the info for my review before committing to the $69 (+10 for S&H) charge to receive the package and was told not to call the Customer Service Line until after I both received and reviewed the 'white 8 X 10 envelope'.  Immediately after hanging up I knew I had gobe against my better judgement so once I got home I googled "GMI Enterprises - a legit company" and was prompted with a list of attached scams associated with this name and with same details/story line they had provided me.  Please use caution should you receive a call from this company.  If I had waited the 7-10 days to recieve the info they would have already collected the money by then.

"Government Jobs, Issuing FHA refund checks, received from a visitor, April 2, 2008: Other numbers used by these scammers are: 603-214-3605, 512-404-1292, 971-285-3130.

Received a call from someone purporting to be the "The Government" and wanted me to help "The Government" issue FHA refund checks, of which, they promised, I would receive a percentage and would have my paycheck sent to me directly from the US Treasury.  After a little probing, they said they operated under the name GMI Enterprises, based out of Portland, Oregon (I live in Boise, Idaho).  I spoke to a person name Angie (she would not give me her last name) and said her operator number was 113.  The phone number used to reach them (which I have confirmed) is 971-285-3130.  They do charge a fee to enroll in their program, and they claimed that I had requested to be contacted via something I signed up for online (which I have not done)."

Yeah, this company I thought it was legit and I didn't find out about googling some of these businesses I got scammed I do believe.  Now I'm going to be more careful about looking for home base business. Don't even try that rebate processing with Angel Stevens that is the biggest rip off.  They make you pay #200.00 up front and make you read this manuel for weeks then they lead you to this bogus website and then they got the nerve to ask for additional $3000.00 for mentorship.  Also on this website "Crazy like a Fox" he stated this was a legit business that is so bogus ah..So what do you believe and who do you believe and is there really a home base business out there?

I am so grateful you have all put out these warnings about the scam with the government refund program.  I was contacted yesterday and it sounded like a wonderful opportunity and I told them I need to talk with my husband and that I needed some verification of this being real.  They told me to look up GMI Enterprises.  So, I did and was lead to all the information you provided and I will not be calling these people back.  Thank you!

    REVEREND MEGAN
I WAS CONTACTED BY THE GROUP CALLED GMI. IT SOUNDED GOOD AT FIRST.  SO I WENT AHEAD AND ORDERED IT.  IT CAME ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER AFTER THE RECEIVED MY MONEY. AFTER READING THEIR BOOKLET.  I NOTICED THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY HUD FOR THE LIST THAT YOU NEED TO START YOUR REFUND PROCESS.  IM ON A RESTRICTED INCOME THAT DOESNT ALLOW FOR ADDED EXPENDITURES. NOW THAT I HAVE READ THE BOOKLET IT STATES IN ORDER TO RECEIVE A REFUND I HAVE TO SEND THEM THE LIST FROM HUD.  HOWEVER I CANT AFFORD TO BY THE LIST.  NOW IM WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FOR A REFUND.  IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS COMPANY IS PRETTY MUCH A SCAM.  THEY BETTER HOPE THEY REFUND MY MONEY REGARDLESS THAT I DONT HAVE A HUD LISTING.  THEY WANTED OVER $300.00 DOLLARS FOR A LISTING.  WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND CAN AFFORD THIS KIND OF MONEY.
    SERIOUSLY UPSET AND DISTRAUGHT.

    Sister Keeping It Real
I was contacted by a voice mail recording about working as a refund processor. It stated you can earn up to 38,000.00 yearly. After listening to the recording an operator comes on the phone. I said to my self sounds real good and not a hard to do, no experience, right up my alley . Then it clicked in my mind just to ask a couple of question about the home based business because this sounded 2 good 2 B true. The question I asked were, What is the name of this business, where are you located and what is the address and zip code? The response was our business name is GMI which stands 4 Goverment Morgage Insurance. We are located in Portland Oregon but the operator claims she didn't know the address to the company she is advertising or should I say working for. I then replied, how can you advertise a home base business and don't even have the address available for the customers your offering it to. Her reply was I will receive that infomation after I have purchased the packet. I said, this really sounds fishhh-cceeeee.Then I asked can you send me some liture or e-mail so I can review what your saying beside this oral conversation before I make my decison. Guess what, their was nothing they could send me except just to call the better business bureu for my state an enquire. This story get even interesting. Well after the first list you have to continue to pay for the listing. You want know that unless you ask. I got disconected the first 2 times from the operators I was talking to. Then it dawn on me because I wouldn't allow my self to be rushed into ordering the packet I got hung up on. I called back again with the same questions. One said go on the internet if I had any doubts the the business is la-get. I did and all the scames pop up. That's interesting cant tell me the address to an liget business. No way in hell your going to get my credit card number and I can't get an address to this company and have to continue to pay for a list. NO THNKS EVERYON. LOOK OUT!! THIS MEAN RED FLAGS ALL THE WAY.

I just got a postcard from GMI stating the offer of work processing Mortgage Interest Refunds frm the Govt---same process--make $400 per refund---to be paid by Govt when papers are filed---sounded very complicated---and fishy---so when I looked them up on internet---I find myself seeing Scam reports from many others----too bad---probably only was to do this right would be direct from HUD or whatever part of the Govt in charge of these finances---

I too am sorry to have to admit to being "gotten over on".  I am just so disgusted that such deceitful people exist and it seems there is nothing we can do, except try to recognize what's real and what's false! But how can you be sure, they seem so sincere about needing people to do the works.  I believe the government should step in and do something about those who are using the names of different government agencies, in order to make their scams more believable and at the same time robbing innocent people trying hard to find a legitimate work at home job! No matter what walk of life you are in, being a deceiver is just plain evil, people beware.

I spent $79.00 on this so-called government refund program. I have written in for a list of different states that I wanted to work with. I have not heard from anyone! Now I know why. I wish I had been a little more
careful with whom I do business with. Thank all of you for your comments. I wish I could recover my money. If anyone knows anything, please notify me by e-mail.

Today I recieved a call from this government program.Being low income I try to find anyway I can to earn money and be at home with my children, because of high day care costs. This sounded perfect, well I had a feeling after I had already given my debit card number to them. I look it up and found all this information about them. IMMEDIATLLY I called them back to cancel, but was told that someone would have to call me back in a few minutes. Well I did'nt wait!!!! I called my bank and told them what happened and they put a stop payment on my debit card and cancelled it. They are going to send a new one to me. Thank you for the information on this site.

I was just contacted by the same GMI Enterprises. I thought it sounded great but because I am low income decided I better check them out a bit before I gave my #s out. Thank God I did and thank all of you for your input. I have been scammed before trying to make a little extra money. How evil to take from people who obviously need the money or wouldn't be tempted to do something like this in the first place.
