Charged my debit card
Complaint
Paula Inmon
Country: United States
I checked my bank account this morning as I do daily. There were THREE new charges to my debit card all starting with DRI* for various amounts. The names sound like video games, I don't even know what they are for, I just know I did not make those purchases.
DRI*KASPERSKY.COM orderfind.com MN $65.65
DRI*GAMEZONE orderfind.com MN $32.84
DRI*Electronic Arts eastore.com MN $32.79
I called my bank immediately to start a fraud claim and to block any additional charges to my debit card. Fingers crossed that I will successfully dispute these charges.

All three are legitimate companies selling legitimate products.
Since they all appeared at once, it is most likely some thief got your card number and ran up charges for products that can be bought on-line and downloaded. If these charges go through, they will likely pile on similar anonymous charges as fast as they can until you shut down the card.
Follow up with a WRITTEN fraud dispute sent to your bank, to the dispute address from your statement, to best protect your FRB Reg. E dispute rights. Your bank should reverse the charges and return your money quickly.
In the future, do NOT have or use debit or check cards. Block any that you hav. They are higher risk than credit cards, since they drain real money out of your account, screw up your payments to creditors, cause possible overdraft fees, and are more disrupting to block than credit cards.
Use only credit cards for on-line or retail payments.
Use checks only for payments to trusted companies: rent, mortgage, utilities, bank payments, etc.
Use only ATM cards requiring PINs at your bank's own ATM machines.
With high levels of fraud, you have to limit your risk.
Th person must have written the entire number down along with the cvs number of the back. I was at Appleebees on 12/26/09.
I am very disheartened by all this - My account is one that what little child support I get & $50 from my paycheck go into each week. I use this for groceries and odds & ends that we need. Good thing I grocery shopped already!
I am still trying to figure out how they got the info -unless they did somehow breach chase's info - I almost never use this card online - and all recent purchases have been at the store and with the exception of today's subway purchase I swipe my card through the reader at the register and enter my pin - I thought I have been being careful and mindful in how I use my card - I don't know - maybe not
Thanks
