To all who are having or had a problem with Travel Guard. I have been reading many complaint boards and found a high number of complaints about Travel Guard. If it is true that Travel Guard is, or is affiliated with AIG I would like for you all to remember how they were bailed out and how their execs paid themselves bonuses with that bail out money.
I am not sure how to go about it, but I feel that strength is in numbers and that perhaps if we find a way to connect we can get some justice and the money they owe us.
I have already contacted the Insurance Commissioner for California but fear they will not do much. I will contact the Attorney GeneraL, and my Congresswoman.
I am outraged to think my taxes, the money I worked so hard for, is now being used to defraud more unsuspecting travelers.
I hope this is not one of these dead websites where nothing happens.

Does anybody have an idea how to get all the victims together to confer and take some action?

I am willing to try.  Surely, a class action suit would get their attention.

Brigitte, I will make an update with your complaint site on what happens to the claim I am about to process. Thanks for this work as this might be of help to any possible injustices in insurance claims.

I think we've all been stung by one company or another at some point and so, while I appreciate your complaint, I think there's a fine line between having a complaint and being a complainer.

After coming across your review and doing a little research of my own on this company, it appears that they have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau:
    http://www.bbb.org/wisconsin/business-reviews ... int-wi-3000442/

They've also been rated as one of the top 8 travel insurance providers by Frommers, a well-known and reputable travel group:
    http://www.frommers.com/articles/6438.html

I'm no expert, but based on a quick Google search, it looks to me like Travel Guard is a solid company. I think if you perform a thorough search on them, you'll find that there are many more people sharing good experiences than the few complainers who always seem to draw attnetion due to their shear noisiness. Check also the travel review sites like Trip Advisor.

I'm sorry if things didn't work out for you this time, but keep in mind that insurance companies aren't in the business of handing out money willy nilly, but reimbursing for the unexpected, within the guidelines of whatever policy you purchase.

The onus is on us to know what we're buying!

Travel Guard is a scam.  They charged my credit card without my authorization.  They refused to fix the situation after I called.  They can't provide me with any proof that I actually ordered their insurance, but through Virgin America they allowed Travel Guard to charge my card. Virgin America is awesome but I am disappointed they would be associated with such a company. Small amount, but very disappointed with their bad behavior.  Big insurance companies seem to think they can get away with anything.

That is pure [***]!   My father passed away - they have the death certificate and EVERY SINGLE document they requested, I gave them.  They are STILL stalling.

When did "Getting What You Paid For" not include Travel Guard?????

Travel Guard IS a scam.  They have refused to provide a refund after multiple times of providing the information they request.  I don't know how they have an A+ on BBB but I can tell you this - another BBB complaint is headed their way.

Oh,  Joe, you are sooo right.   On a cruise we took last year, my husband had a very simple claim - a respiratory  infection.  Two months after filing a claim, we are still having trouble making them understand that Medicare and our secondary insurance, like most insurances, does not pay on claims more than three miles off shore of USA.  One would think they should know that.  Also I do not understand a company with whom you bought insurance demanding that you prove you paid for it with your claim.  I believe their motto might be to try and wear you down -not happening.

I used travel guard three years ago,and had to make a claim for my daughter when she was injured. Travel guard was the best and most professional and efficient company i have ever had to work with. I was distraught, and they just took over and handled every thing for me. AAA rating from me.

Hey, so I've noticed alot of bad reviews on here. I have to say that I have had an amazing experience with this company. I use them everytime i travel outside of Canada, I travel extensively throughout South america and was there for 6 months this year and going back tomorrow with (travel guard insurance) I got really sick twice in South america once I was in a private clinic for 2 weeks Travel guard took care of everything made sure I had the best care and there was no out of pocket expenses for me the only paper work I saw was a simple form I had to sign and mail back to them, the second time I got sick with salmonella and was hospitalized for 3 days and the same thing they were fantastic on the phone made sure I was ok asked if I had confidence in the hospital I was in if not they made me understand I was more than welcome to seek any second opinion and/or go to another clinic at any time, they kept contact with the doctors on up to date medications being administered/ test results etc. They made sure there was not going to be any out of pocket expenses for me and that if a doctor asked for out of pocket expenses I was to phone the company imediately to seek payment. They are amazing and i would recomend them to anyone and everyone travelling, they are # 1 in my book and would not get insurance from any other company while travellong. I feel the people with the bad reviews have possibly  not travelled extensively nor have they needed emergency medical care if they had they would say that travel guard is the way to go any company who is fast to respond when your in a crazy foreign country collapsed and not coherent and rushed to a hospital is a first class company in my books. So anyone looking for medical/travel insurance i highly suggest this company.

When we originally booked our vacation, which included a flight from Lax to Sydney, cruise from Sydney to Hawaii, and then fly from Hawaii to LAX, my back was feeling well enough that I thought I could travel. I am legally disabled under the ADA qualifications. Shortly after booking the trip, my back started acting up and we thought it would be best for just me to cancel out on the trip, my parents would still go. There was still at least 5 months before the trip.   Once mom and dad returned home, I started filing a refund claim with Travel Guard /Hawaiian Airlines in June 2012 and this is the end of September and I am still working on it.
I have provided them with ALL of the requested paperwork, even extra doctors letters explaining certain doctors appointments. Now today, I have been informed that Travel Guard wants 6 months worth of EVERY doctors visit I had during a certain period of time. This seems like Travel Guard is going way up
and beyond harrassing me when I am legally disabled. It wasn't like I just decided not to go on the trip.
I have also been told by the Resolutions department that, each customer has a different policy depending on when they make their reservation and what day it is. This just doesn't seem right.  I too am seeking legal assistance in be able to get back the money for the airfare. If anyone else knows of anything like this can they let me know.

Wow! Thank you for posting this information. I am yet to make claims. In my case, I felt weak and I had a fall, and when everyone around me in the Conference told me I was very pale, my friends felt it was imperative for me to see a doctor. I was rushed to the E.R. by the taxi cab instead of just being brought to the clinic, since my friend and I did not know the place and the attitudes of certain taxi cab drivers. Since I was feeling terrible, I contacted Travel Guard and I had a contact person there. I also took the initiative to cancel my flight for a day--I was bent on going home and I was hoping that seeing a doctor would help me find a relief to the body pains, headaches, and feeling of weakness at that time. I hope that I can process my claim for the trip interruption and accident-medical expense which is not that big. I will make an update post of what happens to my claim.

My father was terminally ill so I made reservations to see him before he passed away.  I purchased travel guard ins and before the flight day arrived I was told I needed to come right away to see him as health was seriously declining.  I had to pay $832 extra to fly out the next day.  My father passed away 2 days later which was BEFORE the original flight was to occur.  Travel Guard keeps asking for more and more information.  They have the death certificate, flight itineraries, bank statement showing $832 withdrawal and doctor's note.  Still not giving me ANY refund or information.  It has been over two months so I just turned them into Washington STate Insurance Commissioners.  Not sure who at Attorney General to contact or what a contact humber would be.  Any Help???

If they are not going to pay when they have the Death Certificate -- then when and what do they pay??????

FYI guys... Did you know that companies pay a FEE to join the Better Business Bureau? That's right-look it up. SO- when a company behaves badly, the BBB gives them a million chances to make it right. Otherwise the BBB would go out of business because no companies would be left to pay their fees!
