This has just happened to me and I do not know what to do. I called the bank and I have to wait until Monday morning to handle this. This is getting to be crazy. I just opened a new account because of things like this. Who are these Zeal people?

This company took 29.95 out of my account on July 17. My bank told me to contact the company and try to resolve it with them before I file a dispute.... they are supposedly a pay day loan company... my husband or I have not applied for a loan!??... the lady on the phone kept asking me if I was still interested in a loan after I was demanding my money be put back! Ugh! I asked her if she was aware that its all over the Internet that this company is a scam...she replied with "yes I'm aware of that but we are reputable company" haha!! I was told money would be credited asap....that was on the 18 th and my money had still not been credited. Now I need to dispute it with my bank. The banks should have some kind of knowledge of these kinds of things and should be on the look out for suspicious stuff like this....especially since its all right here that its a scam! So frustrating!

I found a charge on my account today. The only thing that I've done recently using my bank account information was to update my info on mint.com. Is anyone else on this thread using Mint.com?

I just found a charge on my account also. I have never heard of these people. I am so angry. I also filed a complaint with the BBB. I tried to call Zeal and it says they're closed. I'm sure when I call at their business hours, my call will get lost in space. I also tried to email them and it came back invalid email. I will be calling my bank as soon as they open. I am checking to see if there is anything legal that can be done, because their practices I would say are illegal.
Dispute it through your bank, and block your card number or close your account to prevent further fraud. Your bank can reverse the charge if you dispute promptly, under FRB Reg. E.

The ACH system was intended to be used for routine payments between businesses, or between businesses and their continuing customers, where both sides knew the other party well, and trusted that the transaction would be submitted correctly.
It was NOT intended to be used as some substitute for writing a check that documents the fact that a transaction is authorized and who it is intended to be paid to, nor was it intended to be used as a substitute for credit or debit card charges, which have tighter security and merchant contract provisions protecting the consumer.
In particular, NACHA rules prohibit use of ACH by outbound telemarketers cold calling consumers, as that area has been rife with fraud.
This company is misusing the ACH system, using routing and account number information entered supposedly to "apply for a loan", in a separate transaction for monthly "membership" charges. The hundreds of complaints may either result from failure to clearly notify consumers of the charges, rendering them unauthorized, or possibly from errors or deliberate use of the site to "ping" or test routing and account information for purposes of fraud. Complaints of ACH charges where the alleged names do not even match the account information are consistent with the latter, and are similar with "ping" fraud reports occurring recently against Experian in connection with theft of consumer credit reports.
The ACH system does not check card expiration numbers or CCV numbers like the credit or debit card payment systems, and does not document the alleged payor's payment authorization by signature, nor does it even check that the payor's name or other information matches before pushing through a charge that takes money from a consumer's checking account, possibly causing additional damage through overdrafts or bouncing other payments. It depends totally on the alleged payor catching erroneous charges after the fact and disputing them back through the banking system, and as such, it depends primarily on responsible use of the ACH system to avoid fraud losses to consumers or banks.
Common factor in complaints: Unauthorized charges, without even disclosure of routing and account number by the consumer. Most report having no idea who this company even is. Most report no contact with the company at all. One reports receiving a call claiming she was approved for some loan she never applied for, followed by the unauthorized charge showed up. One reports receiving a call she did not answer, followed by the unauthorized charge showing up. One report a promised refund never went through. One reported charge to a credit card. Several reports that on calling the company they were on hold and never reached any person.
Pattern is consistent with some level of outbound fraudulent telemarketing behind some of the unauthorized charges.

OMG, me too!!! I checked my account because one of my checks bounced & i knew i had money in there to cover it, and when i looked at my statement, there was a check that Zeal Money Solutions drew against my account for $29.95. When i contacted my bank to close my account immediatey and investigate this, the bank said that this transactionn was authorizied!
This company is definitely doing fraudulent things! I'm going to investigate further about my rights and everyone that this happened to should also.
You should also contact the BBB and report them.
This happens with alot of these small, unknown banks.
Your bank has no way to know whether it's actually authorized by you or not. The charges are going through ACH, and they are just assuming they are authorized.
Have your bank close your account immediately to prevent further theft.
Send your bank a written fraud dispute, mailed certified to their dispute address from your statement. Insist that they send you a fraud affidavit form, fill it out and send it in.
If you have problems getting your bank to reverse the charges, file a complaint against them with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, at www.occ.gov

Checking my account today 7/30/12 to see this $29.95 debit from my account so I called them up and they basically told me it was an activation fee. I asked for what because I did not apply for anything. The rep. named Shelly did not even know my email address claiming their were four people with my name. I demanded a full refund because I did not even know what this was about. Shelly basically told me it would take 7-10 business days to get my refund. On the phone now with my bank. The nerves of these damn people.
