MY HUSBAND ASKED ME TO CALL A COLLECTION AGENCY BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SETTLE A DEBT. I CALLED TO LTD FINANCIAL SERVICES, AND I SPOKE TO 5 DIFFERENT PEOPLE. THE LAST PERSON WAS VERY RUDE. I WANTED TO SEND THEM MONEY ORDERS ON A PAYMENT PLAN TO SETTLE AN ACCOUNT AND THEY SAID NO.. THAT WE NEEDED A CHECKING ACCOUNT AND THERE WAS NO OTHER OPTION. WELL WE DONT HAVE A CHECKING ACCOUNT AND I TOLD THAT PERSON. I ALSO ASKED HIM IF I CAN WESTERN UNION THE PAYMENTS AND HE SAID NO, WE KNOW YOUR HUSBAND HAS AN ACTIVE SAVINGS ACCOUNT AND WE NEED THAT INFORMATION. WE ARE TRYING TO SETTLE AND THEY DIDNT HELP. AND I WAS VERY UPSET AND TOLD HIM NEVERMIND AND I HUNG UP.

I owe $14,000 on an old CC that was closed 4 years ago. LTD has the debt now. They said after 30 days of being notified they will sue you for the money. I tried to settle with them, one time payment of around 40% what was owed, they came back with a much higher number. This is all I have, money wise, can they sue, or does it go onto another collector?

When an account is charged off, is it still valid for collection agencies to charge me?

They just withdrew 3500.00 from my husband's checking account we knew nothing about it. How is this legal? We have given no authorization to his account

Received a strange call from them today knowing that I don't owe anyone. My credit report was pulled a few days ago and has no debts on it. So this looks very fishy to  me.

I received a call from LTD back in April 2018.  They said I owed $2000+ to Barclays.  I informed them that was paid off in 2015.  They said I had not made a payment since Dec 2014.  I pulled bank statements and proved that I made payments through 9/2015.  I sent them all this info.  Asked them to respond in writing. No word.  This is now showing up on my Equifax credit report.  I've disputed it with Equifax 3 times.  All they will say is that Barclays has verified the amount is due.  Equifax can not provide documentation - they said well they verified it.  LTD also said I hadn't paid since 12/2014 - which was not true.  I had no contact from Barclays or anyone else on this account for over 3 years.  Makes no sense that for over 3 years I haven't gotten any thing from anybody saying I owed money.   Standing my ground not paying anything without proof of some kind.

Often these debt collectors have purchased the original debt for pennies on the dollar. Example: a 500 dollar debt is purchased for 50 dollars (the original lender accepting something rather than nothing for an unsecured debt)….they will try anything necessary to collect their 50 dollar investment upon first contact, suggesting a payment plan.

Why?  There is a statue of limitations on such debts.  When it is past the lawful time ( 7 years in most states)….they will attempt to simply get you to send them as little as a few dollars which legally reopens the statue for another 7 years when YOU confirm that you actually owe this debt.   By law they must stop contacting you if you demand it and they cannot report this debt to any credit agency.

If you allow them access to your personal accounts you are basically agreeing that this is a valid debt removing the lawful time limit statues to start all over again....where they legally have 7 years to chase after their profit.

I got a letter from them for a debt I owe. I agreed to a "hardship" payment plan and was told after 12 months I wouldn't be eligible for another hardship payment plan. Nikki Rose is the rudest person I've ever dealt with. REFUSED to help and then REFUSED to play back the audio recording where she "claimed" I agreed to a higher amount... I give permission to be recorded, I should be allowed to hear it in this case of a dispute. She is a [***]! I'm doing the very best I can to pay off the debt!! Work with me instead of against me.

Could u please ex plain to me why my husband recently bought me a car paid £5.400. Last week less than a week later early knock on my door from bully telling me my car had been clamped .previous owner had monies outstanding showed him my receipt and log book and it was bought in good faith and as I have never been through this experience and being on my own i was in bits not knowing what to do ,told to empty my car and he took my key . as i was then too upset and distraught i couldn't go to work that day ( loss of earnings )and plus having no transport to get me their .... tried emailing but no response .so im now having to go down another  route .for advice ( more cost ).sooo soul destroying and why call at such an early time and treat me like a piece of garbage I have not done NOTHING WRONG and am honest hard working and begging lifts to work .may not seem like a lot of money but i don't intend to just go away.....

I have found my experience to be the exact opposite in my experience with LTD LP. I would prefer to pay online using a credit card as this would, first afford me the credit protections from my card and second allow me to create a real-time record of the transfer. However, every time I have tried to access the account I receive a server error / run-time error. When I called i was told to just send a check and they would mail me back a receipt. When I expressed that I would prefer that at least I get a satisfaction statement in email I was told they do not offer them at all.
So how do I prove that I have paid a debt and assure that there will be no further bad reports sent to my credit report/score if I cannot procure proof of satisfaction? I could not trust the apartment complex to accept the deposit and last month rent (60 days) without them saying they needed 90 days payments how can I believe that their collection agency will keep on-the-level records?
