To whom this may concern:
I am writing this in regards to my missed flight connection from Istanbul to LHR London on December 20, 2009. I was scheduled to board flight 1979 at 0825 Hrs from the Istanbul Airport, when it was reported that the flight was to be delayed for twenty minutes. Please note: The reason for the delay was never disclosed to any of the passengers there. On or about 0850 Hrs, we were called to board the aircraft. Instead of the aircraft leaving the runway, it sat at a standstill for approximately 45 minutes and again, there was never any explanation of the reason. The aircraft was scheduled to arrive at the LHR London Airport at 1025 Hrs, and I was to make another connection to Boston, USA at 1215 Hrs via American Airlines, flight 109.  When the aircraft got near the airport, the pilot announced over the PA system that there would be 10 minute delay in landing at the airport. Then when the aircraft landed, there was another delay of the passengers getting off the plane. I ran and got into the customs line and slowly passed through the security. While I was in the line of customs, I heard over the PA system that my flight to Boston was boarding the aircraft. I ran all the way to the American Airlines gate, and when I approached it, they had the doors locked. I banged on the doors and begged them to please let me in, that I must catch that flight to Boston. A female that came to the door, told me I was too late and I had to go to the American Airlines ticket area and reschedule the next flight. When I arrived at the ticket area, I noticed extremely long lines had started to form at the American Airlines ticket counter. I shortly found out that the JFK Airport had been closed due to snow, and American Airlines were trying to get the passengers that had arrived on American Airlines, and were connecting back with them, onto another flight to another USA destination. We were asked to form two separate lines. One line was for those that missed their connections to Chicago and Boston and needed to be rebooked. The other line was for those who were flying to JFK and the flight was cancelled. I got into the missed connection flight line, which had gotten long and was at a stand still pace. I had been in the line for approximately 2 hours, when a female called out for those who had missed their connections to Chicago and Boston to come to this particular line, and she was going to attempt to get them on the next flight. When it came my time to speak to the female, she advised me she had a flight leaving out for Boston in a little over four hours. I asked her to please place me on that flight. She then asked me why I missed my connection to American Airlines and I told her I was flying from Istanbul on Turkish Airlines. Their flight was delayed and by the time I went through customs and ran to the American Airlines, the gates had been closed and I was routed to go back to American Airlines to rebook. She told me it was not American Airlines fault that I had missed my connection that it was Turkish Airlines, and I would have to go to the Turkish Airlines counter and have them rebook me. I pleaded with the female to please go ahead and book me for the next flight. I reminded her that I had been standing in the line for almost 2 hours and please don’t have me to get out of this line when she can handle this for me. She told me she was sorry, but she could not help me, but tell the Turkish Airlines about the next flight to Boston and they can book me. I got out of the line that I had waited so long in, and went to the Turkish Airlines and spoke with a young male at the desk. I, once again, explained to him the entire story from the beginning to the end. He looked on the computer for a lengthy period of time, and then told me that he had no flights going out until Tuesday 22nd. I told the male that was impossible, the female for American Airlines was going to put me on the next flight to Boston. He advised me that he looked and there was nothing going out until Tuesday and if I wanted to go and have the female come over there and speak with him, then he would look into it further, but he could see nothing. I got out of the Turkish Airlines line and once again went back to the American Airlines female. I told her what the Turkish Airlines male had told me, and she said she would not leave her desk and go over there, stating that the male didn’t want to take any responsibility for the flight. She said there are flights going out and he can look on the computer and see that.  She would offer no further help to me here. I went back to the Turkish Airlines and again spoke to the male and told him what the female had said. He advised me that American Airlines were booking for American Airlines, and they had booked all the flights by rerouting those that was cancelled to JFK to Boston, and left Turkish Airlines with no flights to pull from. He told me there were no flights anywhere to the United States, on any carrier, until Tuesday. He told me Turkish Airlines would put me up in a hotel until Tuesday morning. I told him, I had no money on me but $20.00 U.S Dollars and no luggage, only my carry on luggage. He stated Turkish Airlines would provide the meals for me. He told me to go back  to the American Airlines line and have them call to the American Airlines luggage area having them to pull my luggage, and for me to go and get it. I said “Sir” can’t you do that? The lines are very long, and I don’t want to get back into those long lines. He stated to me, that American Airlines would have to do it. I got out of the line, and returned back into the, very long, American Airlines line that was being used for missed connections. I stayed in the line for over one hour, before I was able to speak with an American Airlines agent. When I told her what the male at the Turkish Airlines asked me to do, she became upset and told me, “Let him do it” that is his job and he only wants to put his job on someone else. She said she has no idea as to why she needs to call, what to say or what number to be calling to ask for my luggage. She refused to offer me any further assistance, and I again went back to the Turkish Airlines. When I told the male what the female had said, he picked up the phone and called the American Airlines luggage area and asked them to pull my luggage. Please note: By this time, many hours had passed by and I had been unfairly shuffled from one airline to another. I was the innocent victim here. I had done nothing wrong to cause this. It was the Turkish Airlines that was late and caused me to miss my connect flight. While I was in the line at one point speaking to the young male at the Turkish Airlines, I heard over the PA system that the plane for Boston was now boarding, and it was the time that the female from American Airlines was going to book me. I don’t know what the problem was or is, but there was and is a horrible communication between the two airlines, and I feel I was badly treated here between the two. However, I also believe the male for Turkish Airlines could have resolved many of the problems without having me to get out of the Turkish Airlines line and continually getting back into the, extremely, long lines of the American Airlines. Example with the luggage. When I told him American Airlines refused to call for him, he simply picked up the phone and called them himself. This was totally not called for. Such a lack of professionalism. After it became apparent this flight was going no where and I was headed to a hotel for two days, I went on my way in an attempt to gather my luggage, retrieve my bus ticket and hotel preparations. After I waited in the extremely long line to exit customs to gather my luggage, I was told “They didn’t know where my luggage was at, and it could be anywhere. I left the airport through an area I was not familiar with, and headed into an area that I was not sure where I was going. With no gloves or hat, snow on the ground, and the wind blowing hard, I stumbled about to find a bus that would take me to the hotel, that would be my home for the next couple of nights. It was bad enough that I had to be put through the entire mess that I had to go through, but it was even worse that Turkish Airlines cared so little about me, that they placed me in a 2 star hotel, with a broken heating system, nasty walls, stained up carpet, no wash cloths to bathe and cold food to eat. My bed consisted of 6 metal squared studs with a piece of particle board for my mattress, and a pillow top to sleep on. I do think I deserved a decent bed to rest on. I ask that whoever reads this letter will imagine what it would be like to have to sleep on a board with a pillow top. When I asked them about wash cloths to clean with, I was told by the housekeeper supervisor, that the hotels with 2 stars or below don’t furnish wash cloths. The only thing that I had to wash my body with was by my hands. Can you imagine doing that? When I went to the counter and explained to the desk clerk that my luggage was lost, and could they provide me with a toothbrush and toothpaste, I was  told that Turkish Airlines should had provided that for me. After much pleading, I gave them $3.00 for a toothbrush and tiny tube of toothpaste the size of my small fingernail. Such a shame and disgrace. On the bus, there were other passengers from other airlines that had been put up in hotels, and they were being dropped off at much nicer hotels. I would be ashamed and embarrassed to know that I worked for an airline that treated it passengers with such low dignity. It really says a lot about your airlines, that I promise you I won’t let this rest. I will place my reviews for Turkish Airlines so everyone that reads it, will know just in the manner that I was treated by this company, and I will urge no one to fly with Turkish Airlines. Shame on your company for treating people as if they are the ones that committed the crime here.

      They are somewhat good in the cabin BUT horrific on the ground. Expect all kinds of weird treatment and non-sense attitude from them.

      Take another airline, if not available go with bus, take taxi or even on the back of a donkey but don't go with Turkish airlines. It's simply horrible.
      They have to change their motto from "Globally Yours" to "Simply horrible"

      I don't encourage anyone to travel on Turkish Airlines. The only reason I had been stuck traveling with them, is from the United States,I could never find another airlines that would go to Turkey. I always had to have a lag over either at Paris or London and catch the Turkish Airlines to Turkey.

      You can  with  the greatest pleasure  travel  with  Turkish Airlines.  As a result of  my work  i travel  with various airlines  and  thinking about  making it a pre-requisite  that clients  book me  on Turkish Airlines from now on.  THEY ARE THER BEST !!

    not only Turkish airline but in my experience majority of the airlines don't offer hotel even if there's a long stopover.i have spent more than 18 hours waiting for my connecting flight to manchester.i had travel in Turkish airline in the past and the service was better than Emirates in which i flew first time and they served  the meal  well over the meal time after they took off.

    My comlain is to the air stuart on that flight right from the start of then flight the person in front of me put his seat right back as it was coming to eating time I comlaint to the stuart to tell the person in front of me to put the seat up enlist while we eating  He rather put my seat right back as well ignoring my request comleaty the person right back ton me startet to scream at me to put my seat my seat up again we both ask the stuart to ploease tell the peron in front of me to put the seat up enlistm we are finish to eat but again I was copleatly ignored. As I am a cardiac patiantn I had the most dreatfull flight in my life I only hope you will enlist give the guy a warning as I was like a 3rd grade passenger

    Turkish airlines in the ika-ist-YYZ ticket bought. When we make a flight is delayed 45 minutes Istanbul said. Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines at the airport had been helping me a hostess. This telephone survey with manic hostess gave each other. Then this lady called me and in Canada if I had sordu.Toronto flight. We ate, and later came to take her hotels of my travels came across this a few times we have together. 10.000.-usd wanted money from me. I gave. Then the phone could not reach. I wrote to customer service status of Turkish Airlines, but they gave me such an application if there answer. How will I receive my money back I am.

    I bought the ticket with Turkish Airlines JFK-IST. Business class ta blond hostess in charge (I have the name) and we had friends. For 3 days we have together. Out of money with me, I said send back around and took me 3.000.-USD, but still did not send back. I make known to the Turkish state HVA Roads customer service, but also gave me the same answer. Did not send me my money back.

    Me and my wife , whom I just got married to on Dec 2,2011 and was with on our honey moon , flew with Turkish airline from MCT - IST - JFK.  Here are my complaints regarding the services on ground and on cabin from the staff at both MCT and IST airports , the airplanes, as well as the cabin crew behavior:

    -Staff have no knowledge of Canadian citizens entering U.S and need to learn about this.

    -Airplanes were so hot and no AC and your staff ignored our requests about it.

    -THIS IS MY MAIN ISSUE, on the plane from IST to JFK , we were given emergency seats.  My wife was then told to move out of the seats and will be given other seats (both of us).  I requested emergency exit seats because I am tall (6'2 , 186 CM) and therefore require leg space.  However, the airplane staff called my wife "FAT". They said this to her directly without any regards to her emotions when she is NOT fat.  

    To a woman, this is a very hurtful thing to say specially without any proper explanation.  The seats we were given did not have any leg space for me and when I asked for explanation the staff did not know any English and were not able to speak to me about it as their language skills did not suffice.  They were constantly chatting in Turkish to other passengers while we're standing there not knowing what's going on.  

    Then I was informed that I can be upgraded to a higher class however ALONE.  This is very unprofessional , rude, and inconsiderate.  I informed the staff before that I JUST GOT MARRIED and was on MY HONEYMOON.  How can I leave my wife by herself when we're travelling together.  They continued looking at her in a very hostile way , calling her names in Turkish and in English, and continued chatting to customers in the airplane who were sitting near by about her (I have a basic understanding of the language to know when a person is being insulted).  This is extremely unprofessional of your staff.

    My wife's emotions are extremely hurt. She feels very low about herself as there was nobody to speak about this to.  Her emotional well being is down to the ground and this can cause severe emotional issues for her.  Your staff did not bother to apologize nor justify this to us at all.

    I understand there are regulations within Turkish airline regarding weight and sitting by the emergency exit seats, however it stated that you have to be "SEVERELY OVERWEIGHT" without any classification of what that actually means, and the staff that booked those seats for us did NOT find my wife classified as so , nor did the airport staff.

    My   flight  was delayed   from london  by 1 hr   i had a connecting  flight from istanbul  in a  difference of 1.30  hr  so  i was told  that i  wud  miss  my  connecting  flight  from istanbul  to delhi.  i was told  i  wud  be be   given accomadation  in central and   given a taxi which  wud  take me  theree  to the hotel and retuen  to airport   cos i had  my flight next  day  soo  after  24  hrs.

    i reached istanbul   at  7 pm and  asked for  my  accomdation at the  turkishh airliness  desk. there  were   12 people  there. after  hearingg some  probs  from the  customers  and   people like  who  weree lukingg  for  assistance  for  our  accomadation and taxi.  

    i was  told to wait    for 1 hr  so  i took a seat  for  15 min   wett  back  to them becoz i had a headache just wanted  to rest.  i came  backk at the  counter.   there was a indian ladyy  who had a britisherr husband and a baby  of 3 yrs  oldd  daughter    just like  me askingg  for  accomadation and  taxi  from them.   they  made  us stand  for  20 min saying  we will  tell u  contacting  the hotelss and all. they  werre   veryy  rude  and  takingg  on other  passengers.

    THERE  WAS A MAN  STANDING LOKKIG  AT THE SHOW IN  THE BLUE  SUIT ITSELF   GUESS WOTT HE  WAS THE MANAGER.  LOKKING AT THE SHOW AS IF  ITS A THREATRE    GOINGG ON.  SIMPLYY  BLEW  MY MIND.   WE   HAD TO RAISE  OURR   VOICE HE  CAME  ANDM LISTEN  TO US WENTT INSIE  WAS  DOINGG  NOTHING    CAME OUTT  COSS WE  WANTEDD HIS  NAME AND ID   AND HE  SAIDD YEA A TAKE ITT DO WOTEVER U WANT .    WOT A  DISGRACE.

    AFTER  3 HRS  WEN I  WAS ALOTED THE ROOM AND  THE INIDAN LADY AND HER  BRIT  HUSBAND  WERE   ROMM TOO.  I SAW  8  PEOPLE  COMMINGG BACK TO  THIER  SEATS.

    THAT  SAYS  IT ALL  RUNNING  AWAYY FROM THE  SITUATIONNNNN   SAYS  IT ALLL   OF  UR   SOO  CALLEDD  EMPLLOOYYESS.

    WE  ARE   FREQUENTT  FLYERS   MY DAD HAD THE SAME PROB  WITH LUFTHANSA.  FLIGHT  DELAYY  CONNECTING  FLIGHT WAS MISSEDD THEY   MADE   SUREE  ACCOMADATION AND TAXI  IN  FRANKFURT AND THEY  OLSO  OFFEREDD  200 $  US  DOLLERS.     WHICH HE DIDNTT TAKE IT 5 YRS  BACK.

    I HAVE   FLOWN  SO MANY  AIRLINES.

    TURKISH AIRLINES IS  NOT THE BESTT   YOU  KNOW  THAT  VERY  WELL.  EMIRATES  //UNITED // VIRGIN ATLANTIC // QUANTAS   SIMPLYY  BOLDS  IN EVERYY  WAY .

    LE ME SEE  WOT  CAN U  DO IN MY CASE NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

    THERE  WAS A MAN  STANDING LOKKIG  AT THE SHOW IN  THE BLUE  SUIT ITSELF   GUESS WOTT HE  WAS THE MANAGER.  LOKKING AT THE SHOW AS IF  ITS A THREATRE    GOINGG ON.  SIMPLYY  BLEW  MY MIND.   WE   HAD TO RAISE  OURR   VOICE HE  CAME  ANDM LISTEN  TO US WENTT INSIE  WAS  DOINGG  NOTHING    CAME OUTT  COSS WE  WANTEDD HIS  NAME AND ID   AND HE  SAIDD YEA A TAKE ITT DO WOTEVER U WANT .    WOT A  DISGRACE.

    AFTER  3 HRS  WEN I  WAS ALOTED THE ROOM AND  THE INIDAN LADY AND HER  BRIT  HUSBAND  WERE   ROMM TOO.  I SAW  8  PEOPLE  COMMINGG BACK TO  THIER  SEATS.

    THAT  SAYS  IT ALL  RUNNING  AWAYY FROM THE  SITUATIONNNNN   SAYS  IT ALLL   OF  UR   SOO  CALLEDD  EMPLLOOYYESS.

    WE  ARE   FREQUENTT  FLYERS   MY DAD HAD THE SAME PROB  WITH LUFTHANSA.  FLIGHT  DELAYY  CONNECTING  FLIGHT WAS MISSEDD THEY   MADE   SUREE  ACCOMADATION AND TAXI  IN  FRANKFURT AND THEY  OLSO  OFFEREDD  200 $  US  DOLLERS.     WHICH HE DIDNTT TAKE IT 5 YRS  BACK.

    I HAVE   FLOWN  SO MANY  AIRLINES.

    TURKISH AIRLINES IS  NOT THE BESTT   YOU  KNOW  THAT  VERY  WELL.  EMIRATES  //UNITED // VIRGIN ATLANTIC // QUANTAS   SIMPLYY  BOLDS  IN EVERYY  WAY .

    LE ME SEE  WOT  CAN U  DO IN MY CASE NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW  

    WELL  FROM MY POINT  OF  VEIW    U WILL   JUST READ THIS  AND  CONSIDER  THIS PASSSSSSSS

    Turkish airline is indeed the worse airline I have ever traveled. The plane seat assigned to me on an international flight had a hole in the seat and cup holders were torn and all other seats looked like that.
    They lost our baggage for the entire duration of my trip and someone else had to pick it up and mail my stuff to me. This airline sucks, the people are rude, stupid, can't speak english. Compared to Emirates or Itehad this airline should never be traveled in. I hope the flag carrier of these nasty people goes down to the hell soon.  DON'T TRAVEL IN THIS AIRLINE YOU WILL RUE THE DAY YOU DO SO.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

     

    During my husband’s last trip from Iran to Toronto, a terrible incident took place, which caused unimaginable cost and anxiety for him and our family. Although his Canadian Passport was expired, he had the right to come to Canada and renew his passport upon his arrival; your staff in Iran approved his trip to Istanbul and assured him he will not have any problem; however, in Istanbul’s Airport your staff did not allow him to fly and he had to return to Iran. This is even more astonishing when Canadian Embassy in Turkey, again, approved he could travel to Toronto.

     

    This resulted in excessive anxiety for him and us herewaiting for him, and also incurring flight penalties, and repurchasing costs of new tickets for another flight.

     

    My question is, how confused your staff should be to make such a terrible mistake. If you do not want to allow a passenger to fly, let it him stay at the very first place; I remind you that customers are not toys that you can play with, but your valuable assets.

     

    I look forward your immediate response to this incident.

    I had explained many times to Customer Care (!!!) of Turkish Airlines and I do not want to repeat the same here. The only thing that I would like to say, their customer care is more angry than sufferer customers who called them to request anything. I would like to mention about the names Pinar and Banu from customer relations center, please  do not waste your time to explain anything to them, since they do not have respect to customers, precisely rude!

    Good luck if you have to travel with TURKISH AIRLINES (or DISASTERS)
