Anyone else getting NONSTOP Unsolicited phone calls from these idiots?
These morons are clearly violating the Federal DNC Law (calling me with Anti-Republican Auto-Dialer phone calls all day and night. I'm neither a Rep or a Dem.), as well as 18 U.S. Code § 241 AND 42 U.S. Code § 1985 for the Conspiracy Against Rights law. Will be filing a complaint against with with the BBB, the FCC and their State Attorney General. The unsolicited incoming calls are clearly smear campaign calls against one of our local politicians here in Louisiana. I wonder if they are committing the crime of Slander and Libel (Defamation) with these calls?

Hey Accountable America [***].  How about being accountable and having a real person call me or leaving a call back number on the dozens of recorded messages you've left me so I can tell someone in person to leave me the f*ck alone

The ph #888-265-0242 listed above just has an automated answer saying "no voice line is assigned to this number".  I do not want to send an email as I am sure I will receive more emails than I do phone calls.  Has anyone else found a phone number that works?  Thx.

I too am receiving these calls.  This must be some sort of subversive organization, since they call via Private Party and their website lists non-existent phone and e-mail addresses.  I too am tired of their calls and will support whom I see fit.  I pay for the use of MY PHONE and it is not their right to abuse it.

This is the contact information we will need for any legal action against these people (from http://mblr.dc.gov/corp/lookup/status.asp?id=258483):

    ACCOUNTABLE AMERICA, INC.
    Registered Agent:
    LAURENCE E. GOLD
    1666 CONNECTICUT AVENUE, N.W., 5TH FLOOR
    Washington, DC 20009

Ironically, Accountable America's message consists of a harangue against my congressman, who ALSO is guilty of making illegal robocalls to cell phones.  So there is no sense blaming liberals or conservatives here, they all do it and all of them should be taught a lesson.

Lo' and behold, the calls have now started on my Cell Phone (as of this morning at 6:37 AM) and both the Caller ID Name and Number were being spoofed.

Guess it's time to speak to my attorney in regards to this rogue political outfit.

    Dear sir/madam;

You're clearly wrong, as I should NOT be getting these phone calls. They are also breaking the law in various ways, but then they are trying to hide behind a law that was designed to protect us from such calls.

    To respond to your personal attacks against my educational capacity;

I'll be happy to inform you that I DID in fact pay attention in High School and graduated 2nd in my class. I then went on to attend two Louisiana Universities, and obtain 2 Bachelor's Degrees, and I am currently working on obtaining my Masters Degree after a hiatus.

    Can you say the same?

It's quite clear that you sir/madam are the one who needs to re-attend school with your childish personal attacks.

I'm merely postulating here, but are you a Registered Democrat?

That information is for Domains By Proxy, NOT the Accountable America organization. They used the Domains By Proxy service to hide their true numbers and address, which unfortunately, is legal to do. The ONLY way to obtain the information from DBP is with a Judicial Court Order.

My "Reply" left on their JUST ADDED "DO NOT CALL" area on their website:

    http://www.accountableamerica.com/action/donotcall

    - - - -

So your organization was finally forced to include an Opt-Out on your website? FINALLY!  REMOVE MY NUMBER IMMEDIATELY!

    * Your "machines" have been calling our home at all hours of the day AND night - which is Illegal!

    * The calls offer NO "Opt-Out" options - which is Illegal!

    * They are Pre-Recorded messages - which is Illegal!

    * They are made using Auto-Dialers - which is Illegal!

    * You are Spoofing your Caller ID Name and Number - which is also Illegal!

    * Your calls are clearly an act of Defamation, as well as - 8 U.S. Code § 241 AND 42 U.S. Code § 1985 for the Conspiracy Against Rights Law.

Yet, you have the gall to call me to complain about our local (Louisiana) Republican Congressman Joseph Cao, who SUPPOSEDLY didn't vote for the way you wanted? Are you serious? o_O

They have a word for people like those in your organization - Hypocrites.

Your calls have also claimed that he SUPPOSEDLY visited and supports a Gay Nightclub? Seriously, ask me if I care. I live in New Orleans, and we have people of all walks of life, races, political parties, sexual preferences, religions, etc. I don't give a damn if he visited or supports a Gay Nightclub. The real question is; Why do you?

Even your beloved "Savior" President has been accused of having Gay relationships with Larry Sinclair. Should I just take those claims at face value, like you did with Mr Cao?

I guess it's OK for your Democratic organization to blatantly break the Law, but it's not OK for anyone else? The term Hypocrites definitely applies here.

If they are in fact a legally registered Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization with the IRS (Oh please let it be so!), then let the class action suit begin.

They are CLEARLY violating Federal IRS Laws pertaining to the use and registering of a 501(c)(3) organization.

Quote: "it may NOT be an action organization, i.e., it may NOT attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates."

    Obtained from:  http://www.irs.gov/charities/index.html

Exemption Requirements - Section 501(c)(3) Organizations

To be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes set forth in section 501(c)(3), and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may NOT be an Action Organization, i.e., it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.

Organizations described in section 501(c)(3) are commonly referred to as charitable organizations. Organizations described in section 501(c)(3), other than testing for public safety organizations, are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions in accordance with Code section 170.

The organization must not be organized or operated for the benefit of private interests, and no part of a section 501(c)(3) organization's net earnings may inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. If the organization engages in an excess benefit transaction with a person having substantial influence over the organization, an excise tax may be imposed on the person and any organization managers agreeing to the transaction.

Section 501(c)(3) organizations are restricted in how much political and legislative (lobbying) activities they may conduct. For a detailed discussion, see Political and Lobbying Activities. For more information about lobbying activities by charities, see the article Lobbying Issues; for more information about political activities of charities, see the FY-2002 CPE topic Election Year Issues.

I started getting endless calls from this group whining about George Bush, big business, wall street and the republicans shortly after sending letters to Durbin and Obama's appointed replacement from Illinois.  That's the only place I've given that number out.  Cowardly [***] that act like babies and prevent themselves from having any credibility.

Accountable America is actually a 501(c)(4), which allows them to engage in political activity to a certain extent.  Unfortunately it is going to be a long year for anyone who lives in one of the districts they are targeting and who still has a land line phone, because there is really no federal law to stop them from blasting these calls out all day and night.  Yes, they are violating the TCPA disclosure requirements for prerecorded messages, but I've never seen the FCC fine anyone for this.  There are several states (including Missouri, Oklahoma, Indiana, and probably others) that enforce this provision if the calls are reported to the attorney general's office.

A lot of people don't realize that all non-emergency robocalls to cell/wireless phones are strictly illegal unless you have given prior consent for them to call.  Most telemarketers, bill collectors, and political groups are very careful to scrub their databases to avoid calling cell phones unless they are using live agents.  This is where A.A. is breaking the law and is going to wind up in some serious trouble.  The penalties are steep:  $500 per call, which is potentially tripled if proven that they are willfully or knowingly violating the law (which seems likely).  Anyone who gets one of these robocalls on a cell phone should note the date and time and (if possible) save a recorded copy of the message.  As I have said before, I would not be surprised to see a class action lawsuit, and if that happens you may need this information to take part in the recovery.  Or, if you get more than two or three of these calls, it might be worthwhile to take action on your own.

Enough is enough.  The caller ID is "ID able" -- you know "Private Call or Out of Area".  Please help me make them stop.  Thanks.

I posted on accountable america website my request to be place on their do not call list and 10 days later are still receiving phone calls.  I pay for a land line and am tired of having everyone use my phone for their self interest.

You can remove your phone number from the Accountable America call list by completing this form: http://www.accountableamerica.com/action/donotcall

Only your phone number is required to complete the form.

Issue advocacy phone calls are exempt from the federal Do Not Call List requirements however Accountable America voluntarily observes them.

Accountable America does not call cell phones.

I totally agree and am trying to find a way to stop these calls.  They call with very negative messages about our local congressman whom I wholeheartedly support.
