I too am getting sued by Mary Jane Elliott for a credit card that I never had.  I asked for verification of debt several times and even sent a certified letter asking for this.  They responded with a summons and complaint.  I responded and now I have a pretrial hearing.  I can not believe I have to pay an attorney for a debt I never had.

    I am still paying a monthly charge of $75 to MJ M Elliott, Novi MI. Im going to do some homework and see if I too have been scammed. I had a bankruptsy charge off from 5+ years ago and this pamt is one toward those included in the charge off....hum????

      If this credit card/account was on your Bankruptcy it was charged off and you DO NOT OWE it.  You are being scammed by this crook.  I cannot believe all of your comments all of you people being taken to the cleaners file a complaint with the Attorney General and Bar Association.  She

      soon as I got her paperwork I knew it was not right, I went on line and checked into fighting collection agencies, I kept demanding original copies and they will not provide them and their answers filed sound like a third grade bully's and now seeing all of your comments I kinow I am right and I will be filing complaints with the AG and Bar Assoc. just for the principle.  Please get your money back from this crook and do not pay anyone that was listed on your BK!

        You are correct! First of all NEVER say the debit is yours.  NEVER!  You do have to show up at your first court date, any missing court dates and the judgment will be against you no matter what.  Show up at court, deny the credit card charges are yours and ask the [***] to show your original credit card application with your signature.  Done!  She doesn't have it. Case over.

    I understand all of the above and have been paying Ms. Mary Jane monthly for at least 3 years now.  If there is ever a class action suit, please let know.  Good luck to all.  catmazz@tds.net.

    I just recently received a formal complaint, delivered by the Sheriff's Office. I went to a lawyer who told me this is from 38 years ago, no proof of anything attached. I know it stems from VISA from about 15 years ago when I was going to rough times. At that time, VISA asked me if I could make payments for one year using checks post-dated and then they would see what could be done. I did that and guess what, I owed them more than I ever did (all interest and late fees).  They then sold my account to Asset Assessments. I have been hounded by Asset Assessments, Mary Jane, and one other law firm. We need to wipe these people out by letting others know - DO NOT PAY THEM, BUT DO DO SOMETHING LEGALLY. THERE ARE LEGAL SERVICE AVAILABLE TO YOU IF YOU CAN NOT AFFORD IT. JUST ASK AROUND.

    TO ADD TO MYH COMPLAINT, AFTER I WAS GARNISHEDAND SUED, MARY JANE ELLIOT'S OFFICE SENT ME ANOTHER LETTER SAYING I STILL OWE OVER $300.  SOME ONE PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH ME.  I WOULD LOVE TO SUE THIS BUSINESS. 3132053434.

    oh my!!!  HELP! so her company is scum...they have a judgment against me for over $6,000. ( it was the whole scam thing and I tried to get the judgment set aside went to Court the judge said the decision stayed and would not set aside for another trial that i had no idea had happened)
    now what do I do??
    I wanted to call them with an offer in compromise (I sold my jewelry and got about 1,500 and was going to see if they would take that for a paid in full..but after reading all of this....what do i do i cannot have them attach my bank I have a young daughter and am going through a very bad divorce with no help from him...we are just barley hanging on...I am really afraid please some one tell me what i should do please and thank you in advance!can i leave my email on here or...?

    It's 2012 and I was wondering was the lawsuit ever brought against these people?...........I just received a letter telling me that Mary Jane M Elliott PC is taking my 2011 State Income Tax Check because of a judgement that's against me.  I'm currently paying $60/monthly, which I've been doing faithfully since September 2011

      If you can't get a response, file complaints with your state Attorney General, and the Michigan state bar.

    Everybody file complaints with the Federal Trade Commisssion and also the Attorney General's Office!!!  I have already filed with the FTC and I am going to file with the AG and also the Attorney Grievance Commission.  The AG's office nailed NCO Financial for millions for their scamming ways and they have all kinds of rules to follow now, although this Mary Jane Scumbag and her little Hunchbacks are even more scumbags they lie and mislead and try to make their deals in the court hallways by scaring people, not me!!!!!

    I made arrangements to pay 200 a month starting in Feb of 2012. And now my checks are being garnished for a lot more than that.

    I have dealt with this person 3 times already.  The first time I ask for proof and when she couldn't come up with the proof, the judge on the case dismissed it.  The second time, I was paying on a debt, then I lost my job.  During the time I was out of work, no one contacted me either by phone or mail.  The minute I got a new job, they didn't contact me, they put a hold on my bank account.  Due to that hold, I lost my car and couldn't touch any of the money in my bank account for over a month. I couldn't pay any of my bills and no one seemed to care.  Now comes the third time in dealing with her.  I am trying  to contact someone there, but they all think they can do what ever they want to you and say whatever they want and not have to answer for anything.  It would make my heart feel good if somehow, someway, the tables could be turned on her and she would get a very, very large dose of her own medicine.   I would love to see her be treated in the same manner as she has treated others.  Makes me wonder how she sleeps at night.  Well, maybe I do understand how, when you have no compassion or conscience.

    Always consult a legal advisor.
    For people making payments...why did you agree to this? Did she send you proof you actually owe this debt and that she actually OWNS this debt? (Typing up a Word document on her computer that you owe debt is not LEGAL proof)

    She is a criminal. She breaks many laws and consumer rights. She preys on elder, sick, undereducated, ect.

    They will not "work" with you. You are giving hard earned money to scam artists. She needs to be shut down.
    Make sure she is sending your "notices" to the correct address. If she send you a summons and complaint, GET A BANKRUPTCY LAWYER who has experience with these types of companies.

    NEVER go to court by yourself. Thats what she wants.
    Your lawyer can counter- sue her for their legal fees.

    This company did the same thing to me, told me they were sueing for an old debt, I asked for proof and they got my husband to agree to a payment plan of 250.00 a month, he paid it out of my bank account and when I talked to him we agreed to stop payment until they could prove this debt.  They sent me a summons, garnished my taxes and even froze my bank acct, all with no proof the debt was mine.  I did pay this debt 6 years ago and have no proof other than my credit report. Now they have embezzled over 3,400.00 from my bank acct AFTER the payments were stopped. Leaving it a zero balance until after court...
    I finally hired a lawyer...this company needs to be sued.

    This is unreal. I recieved a letter from her about six months ago saying that she had a debt from me from an Old Navy credit card that I paid off a couple of years ago with a seperate collection agency. I told them that I had paid this with another collection agency in full a while back. They said that could be but they just recevied it so I would have to prove to them that I already paid it off. I asked them to send me proof of the debt owed and what collection agency they recieved it from. They said they didn't know and that I would have to find the proof. I checked all of my credit reports and no debt from them was showing. I let it go. I I just received another letter last week saying they haven't heard from me in a while and was willing to settle the debt. I was suspicious so I googled her and I can't believe all of the scams associated with her. Thank you to everyone posting their issues, now I will know how to proceed with this if they push me.

    It saddens me to read all these.   They are not very willing to work with you.   The orginal creditor sells the debt for cents on the dollar.  Then people like Mary Jane come  after you, take you to court and, sue you for even more than u may had owed. Where is this right.  They are making huge, huge profits.  I thought suing for profit was against the law.   If a 6,000.00 dept was sold for $700.00  they should not be able to collect more than that amount sold.  How is this legal.

    The staff at Mary Jane Elliott is very insulting not willing to work with me on settling the matter. I have ask a friend of mine to help me, the same happen to her No matter how many times she ask to speak to the supervisor at one point they told her that you can leave her a message and she did, but never return the call, waited to weeks then called again she could not pass the dept collectors it seems like there is two ladies how handle the office they would not let her speak to anyone then the two of them, home are picking up the phone they stated that the supervisor don't want to talk to her. then we ask to speak to Mary Jane Elliott. the lady name Alysha said no and just hung up on us very unprofessional. Dose Mary Jane Elliott even exist? How do I solve my issue how can a professional business allow there employee conduct business in this manner. They should not be able to treat people this way, very very stressing.

    Frustrating!
    I have been scammed too by Mary Jane M. Elliott. Unfortunately, she sent me a summons to appear in court and I wish I would have had the money to hire a lawyer to go with me. I just responded and agreed to make monthly payments...which I have been doing since 2008. The debt is still almost the same amount due. Before my letters would say payment made on such and such date and next payment due on such and such date. I was unemployed at that time. Now that I am back to work and I am sure they did a credit check the statements say thank you for your payment but you still have an outstanding balance. They are now calling my home but not leaving any messages. I am so fed up with them! I was thinking of seeing if they would take a lesser amount to pay this old debt off but after reading here I am afraid that they will still take money not owed to them such as my income tax refund. Something really needs to be done about such rude people running a business.
