I got a call today at home from a man stating he was a process server for Collin County DA's Office and he is with the Sheriff's office and needed to come serve a warrant on me. I was shocked and asked why? He stated do you live ....are you still at this address are you now at this address and I stated who are you? He again, stated he was from the county going to serve court papers on me today. He gave me a toll free number for what he stated was the county's office which is 1 866.872.6116 gave me a case no. which he called a Cause No. 008307-TX. I called the number was transferred to a Mr. Fisher's office who stated that law suite in the amount of $6,214.24 was filed in Collin Co., Tx and that warrant was out for me. He then after back and forth said let me get more information from my secretary and state this was for an outstanding debt in from Capital One a credit card that I obtained several years back and had disputes over interest charges etc. He stated that if I did not want to go to court or jail that I could pay $1,951.00 in full by end of business today and this matter could be cleared up. I explained that I recently lost my job etc. Anyway, he stated that I needed to call him back by EOB today or they will serve the papers. Ok, so that was a heads up for me. I called the DA's office nothing is filed on me as of today, after searching PMG it is clear that they do not practice best practices for collections and have been in trouble for this before back in 2004. I need someone to give me advise. I want to pay off my debt, I don't want this type of collections to continue this upset me, made my blood pressure raise, this type of collections are not the right thing to do. Had they called and ask to make arrangements or give me an opportunity to clear the matter, rather then threaten me by taken legal action, or harassment stating they are sending a sheriff over today. This is wrong, bad business, and should not continue this company is bad news.

Done!!!!!
Two weeks later, on Oct. 11, 2011, FTC filed a lawsuit in Central District Court, under seal. A couple days later, FTC raided and siezed business records, and froze bank accounts, with the assistance of the FBI and local law enforcement.
FBI was holding its cards close to its vest.
Another fine customer of Accurint, skiptracer of choice for thugs.

"They called me a punk and started yelling at me saying that they were trying to get ahold of my borther's ex-wife who I haven't seen in over 20 years! "

"I have had 4 calls from the above number every time they are told the same thing but they keep calling my home. When I ask for an address to send a written letter they refuse to give me an address."

Usual script, fake "process server", fake "lawsuit", usual shills.

"Today I received a call from a representative from Process Servers Verfification but didn’t answer the phone. He left a message claiming that he is a process server and wanted to find out where he can serve or hand papers to someone to give to me. He claims this is a second attempt. His telephone number is 1-888-865-4968. This phone number is tied with the WC Group. I don’t know what this debt is for or to who it is associated with. One collection agent had gotten me confused with a Nicole Carter Bush who has debt that I don’t have. The guy left a case number 8860457NIC which is not at the district courts. My questions are is that is it legal practice to do this? Is this intimidation or form of harassment? What should I do?"
"This same 800 number called my son today and told him that they were going to subpena him for a court case against me for debt. Number one, they have the wrong name , number two, I called back and recieved a very flippant and arrogant response. They are looking for another person, they are not legitimate because there is really no court case.:
"Now there calling neighbors anfd leaving on there answer machine what should i do they claim they are from the fraud deptartment and want to turn over to the aurothities"
Why is it always this "Bank of Delaware"?
"She said she would talk to the company, The Bank of Delaware, and see if she could get them to go down on the amount."

I did received a call from them, was told that a complaint will be file, I told them that only way that I would pay, was for them to provide me with my social security number and credit card number they did I called the original bank HSBC, (they provided me with the phone number), to verified the information provided by SRS and Associates from California. I settled with this company for less than the money that I owed to HSBC. I received a settlement letter from them stating that my account had been paid in full and I have send a copy to all credit reporting agencies. They said that they will do the reporting but I took it upon myself to do this."
Impersonating government employees.
"I do have a very small debt that I thought was settled so I was shocked to get this message on my phone from Mercedes Moore at my "local county clerk's office processing division." Says that I'll be served if I don't respond within 24 hours then gave 8883119924 ext 213 to contact them back. They gave me a case number"
Fake "debt", imply "lawsuit", pile on "fees", and offer a "settlement".
"My friend has received calls from 888-311-9924 ext. 220 SRS & Associates, Larry Elam out of Temecula, CA beginning 07-10. Larry stated US Bank charged off $523.38 in 08-06. The last statement she received from US Bank was 07-06 showing $8.00 for maintenance fee, nothing after that until these phone calls began. No calls from US Bank, no letters from US Bank. We have called US Bank numerous times talked to recovery and collection department and they show nothing negative for my friend, as a matter of fact no record of her at all because it is so old. But SRS & Associates is willing to settle for $300.00, Larry said the actual amount OWED is over $1500 because of late fees, etc. All we want to know is what it is for and SRS cannot tell us."
"Dona Buck "Litigation Resolution Manager" has been harrassing me for about a week. She has told me similar things for example they tried to serve me twice and could not and that if I did not call back I was going to be served at work but to avoid the embarrassment I should call back and pay the bill. I have had a "processor" contact me from a "Private Number" and state he was a processor and was going to serve me but first I needed to call 888.311.9924 x-207 to find out the specifics"

As a consumer it is unfair for the public to have to tolerate this kind of abuse. Just closing down a few of these at a time is not going to help the public. Their way of collecting debt is old fashion and barbaric.
If everyone just stops paying them they they will go out of business.
Go after a deep pocket, to cut off the capability for illegal actions. Cut them off from Accurint, the key source of their skiptraces, and essential to their illegal tactic of locating, then illegally harassing and threatening relatives.
Precedent: ChoicePoint
Note that the ChoicePoint breach was NOT a hacked database. The information was SOLD to Nigerian id thieves. They became customers, although they used the information for illegal criminal activity. At some point, the databroker has a responsibility to see that its product is not used for illegal purposes (phone harassment, assault, etc.).

"Also in February 2005, Choicepoint announced that the company sold personal information on at least 145,000 Americans to a criminal ring engaged in identity theft. "

"While these cases are disturbing, Vickie Kirk, executive director of the trade organization for debt collectors called California Association of Collectors, was quoted by California Watch as saying they are “incredibly rare,” and stated, “This is one of the most highly regulated industries imaginable.”
Here's the entire article:

This is Ms. Kirk's email address at CAC: vickie@calcollectors.net
Perhaps someone should clue her in about about just how NOT incredibly rare these practices are by California debt collectors.
Actually it's not. Lots of other legitimate businesses are far more highly regulated, with periodic unannounced inspections by both state and federal agencies.
Is she even aware one of them is brazenly using her logo?

This debt scam doesn't seem rare to me in fact it is actually the norm.
What exactly is her job and her pays her wages.
That's all we need is one more executive telling us everything is just fine.
