I was hijacked by these people.  My ATT bill was hacked into and LUCKILY ATT credited me for the two months of $51.20 (charges for each month).   I cannot get a hold of them- they put you on hold and you have to listen to loud reggae music until you can't stand it any longer and hang up!

I found the FCC site and made out a complaint claim online.

ATT has been really gracious to me. They will keep an eye out on me future statements (as will I!) but I feel this is not the end of it.

STUPID STUPID scammers...I am so incensed.  All I did was answer the phone and some idiot lady tried to get me into a FREE website directory. I said no, but all she needed was my phone number I guess.
Grrrrrrrr  you HAVE to watch your back at all times in this world.

Hey!  i just went thru the same issue, was given the same number 1888-296-8079.  which also didnt work at all.  I was told to keep trying that their number was just temporarily out of service.  this was very stressful because i couldnt afford to have these charges on my next months bill.  I have found a solution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    go online and just google THE BILLING RESOURCE....and then gop to their website.  theres two different option, you can complete a inquiry form (which i also filled out), and i was not convinced that this would help me.  Theres also a number to call them!!!!  the number is 1800-476 7415!!!  the people explained exactly how these charges were made (someone filling out a survey for free groceries)..who happened to be my step son who is 12.  He enetered his birthday in wrong therefore making him over 18!  Then he entered my phone number, which thus subscribed my telephone number!  They gladly corrected the problem and gave me a confirmation number!!  I hope i could be of help to you guys as wel....

I too was billed 18.83 from "The Billing Resource" they are a clearinghouse for all kind of crap...

they have the right to bill your phone number charges from their subscribers.

Good Luck Finding who actually billed you.

My Service Rep. @ VERIZON was very understanding , they put a block on my number for 3rd party bills, and, removed the 18.83 from my bill because
they could not get them to answer the phone at "THE BILLING RESOURCE"

The federal government is at fault for this scam!
They allow AT&T to bill for other companies.
I was billed for $18.83 and have been credited.
Shame on our government and AT&T for allowing this!

I was calling a number for about 40 minutes.  I got a busy signal and as soon as AT&T's computerized message came on saying basically if I want a callback to press whatever.  I was familier with the message and as soon as it came on I would immediatly dissconnect.  Immediatly after my last dissconnet my phone rang a strange ring.  When I picked up I asked the the caller (whom I was trying to reach) how did they know to call me back.  I  was informed that they did not have caller I.D. and they did not call me back.  AT&T, WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION, did the callback at a charge of $2.00.  I called AT&T and was informed that this is a service they provide.  I stated that I DID NOT nor will I ever use this service. I was informed when my bill arrives, I must call again in order to have this charge deleted.

This is not the only time that I was scammed by AT&T.  Approximatly 20 years ago, whenever I placed a long distance number, say in another county in my state, the phone would ring, but no answer, I would hang up.  AT&T billed me for these calls.  I learned from friends that once a "connection" was made, EVEN WHEN THE PARTY WAS NOT CONTACTED, AT&T billed the call.  That was when I dropped AT&T for long distance.

Many years later when I relocated to another state, I took along the same long distance company that I had been using, and was forced to sign up with AT&T for local calls as they were the only company available (local calls only).  My first month bill was outrageous; approxiamatly $600.00.  AT&T scammed me!  They over-rode my long distance company and made my calls something like "person to person" I can't remember for sure, but it was something different than "normal" long distance calling.  I called AT&T and had a screaming match with the Manager.  It was appalling and shocking he lied by insisting that I had signed long-distance with AT&T.  I had to settle with a much lower charge with AT&T, but still it was extremely more than my regular long distance company would have charged.  I am very scared using AT&T, but I do not have a TV and I only need internet and land phone service, and it seems AT&T is the only one I can get that service from, in my knowledge.

I think the real message here from AT&T is that it is better to have 2 customers than 1 even if the 1 is paying for 2.I will be ditching this worthless phone company.MCI claims they would not let this happen.I found I have been billed for over a year by this billing resorce. When I called got sent to the twilight zone,"me I hap you"?  Told I would be credited for 2 months???DUMP AT&T WHATEVER WAY YOU CAN!Life is too short and youll never get back the time you spend on hold !

I had an issue with AT&T billing issue constantly.  They charge me extra like billing from last month, that they already told me that I was only need to pay and I paid in full, then the next month bill will add like 30.00 to the same service that I already paid.  This ongoing and very very hassle. It seem like they are trying to rip me off.

I signed up for the lowest speed on DSL internet from AT&T. I was told it was going to be 25 dollars a month. They said due to my no credit history I was required for autobill pay out of my bank account to which I agreed. The first charge made was $49. Seven days later a second charge of $106 was made. I had to call and have this explained to me that the two charges together were for a connection fee, a modem fee, and first week of services. I was never informed that I was going to have to pay these amounts. A month goes by and they deposit $46 into my bank account and a week later then withdraw another $128!!! (therefore overdrafting my acct!!) After calling NOBODY knew what was going on. I had to deal with calling back and forth for a week before I had my banker finally make a 3-way call to AT&T to end up having to claim FRAUD!!!!!

They came up with multiple excuses for this last charge...
One person said it was fraud, one said it was a charge made in texas for someone elses account, one person said they just "accidentally double charged me for a month and a half". One person said that the larger amount was the initial price of my services with the deduction of the  deposit they had made, and about 15 people DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT! The charge was not even showing up on my account and the only way to access it was by entering my credit card information (which I have now had to cancel)

    WHAT HAPPENED TO 25 DOLLARS!?!?!?!

I was told mine was gonna be 180 for two phones. Last month it was $200.00 . Now it's 400? Extra $10.00 for a two minute text ? WTH?  My mom and I are on the same plan. She doesn't think AT&T is so bad and gets on contracts I don't know what to do. Maybe sue? I also have a conversation taped where a man was quite rude and laughing as I told  him this is not right. $40.00 off a month ? Where ? Were paying and not getting anything. I hope more AT&T buildings are closed in the U.S. !!!!!!!!!!
