My fiance bought my an '07 suzuki forenza new. We fell behind when I started into nursing school because i was not able to work and of course, they call to find out when they will get the money. The loan is in his name, but i told them to contact me ONLY because i pay the bills and handle the money. We would give them a date when we "thought" we could pay them. If we could not make it, we would tell them. Then we would ask for help, defer pymt, change pymt date, refinance, etc. They refused all. Recently, they have started calling my father, mother, brother, aunt in NY (we live in charleston,sc), best friend in NY who i grew up wth and havent talked to in over a year, my fiance's uncle who lives up the road from us, and our neighbor who lives across the street...on top of that, they call his work (fire dept) WE DID NOT PROVIDE ANY OF THESE PEOPLE'S NAMES OR NUMBERS AS REFERENCES and on top of that they are calling people who are mostly related to me, and ppl with even different last names. How do they even know I know these people? We told them to stop calling SEVERAL TIMES, told them we sent them a certified letter and told them to quit harassing our family and friends...their response "well obviously it got your attention to call us, etc...we will do whatever it takes to get the money" etc...we were not even 2 months behind yet, and either way, is that NOT illegal??? My dad told me the lady told him how much we owed, how many days late, etc...and when i confronted the lady she said she did not give any personal info...BS!!! I am SICK of these people and am ready to get an attorney.

I purchased a care in 2005 a Suzuki Forenzo and always kept up the payment and the last year I have gotten behind due to the economy. I know that the collections department has nothing personal against me and they are doing their job, but their job does not include calling and hanging every day without saying anything. There job does not include lying and not giving their names. Their job does not include threats. This is the most unethical company that I have ever dealt with in my life. These people that they hire to do collections have no regard for the law and make it a practice to intimidate and harrass. They have called me every single day and hung up on me after I have made arrangements with one of their managers. Then they lie about it and say they have nothing that shows that I ever spoke to anyone. There must be something that can be done about this.

    Hey Repo Man
Hey looser why don't you get a real job, or sorry they don't give jobs to ex-cons. You might want to try and supplement you income by digging ditches.

On December 5, 2008, Cleo Suzuki Auto Sales attempted to sell my adult son a car. Because of medical bills for his wifes liver transplant, his credit was no good. The dealership called me and I authorized them to try three specific institutions to apply for a loan under my name/social security number. Suzuki Finance made 4 inquires in two days on my credit and another 17 to other banking institutions which I DID NOT AUTHORIZE. I called Suz finance and found they are now owned by GMAC. AFter explaining the situation, their response was "well we have the right to search as many times as we feel necessary to obtain a loan". My beacon score dropped 100 points because of this "power search" this company did and they don't care but I found that BBB, Texas Attorney General, FTC both Texas and Federal do care and I have launched an investigation with all these agencies. I recommend that ALL OF YOU, do the same. Let the government and other agencies know what kind of origaniztion these people are.

Sounds like a lot of naive people are out there trying to buy cars.  If you aren't prepared to go through a reputable banking institution, be prepared to face the wrath of these secondary companies.

Did you know that these cards do not keep much value. There is no real reason to buy one. If you try to trade your car in you will not get much for it. I will never purchase another suzuki again. And yes. their customer service skills suck. American Suzuki Financial services are in Oklahoma. When it is time to do business, there is always some problem with the line.

This is the most frusting experience in my life. All I want to so is pay my car off and I am about to lose my mind. I will NEVER EVER by from this stupid company. O yea you cant email them and you cant make payments online. They dont even have anything on their website that say anything about making a payment. O man I wish I had a ford. This company is the worst! DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM THEM!!!! I purchased a forenza in 2006. What a lemmon!!! Not only is the car a lemmon the dealer himslf Johnnie Danderfield was closed down. the say it the economy. i can't imagine that when the company is doing such a good job taking everyones money on over priced vehicles. I recently have been diagnosed with cancer, and after 2 surgerys am now getting ready to go thru treatments. I have fallen behind on my payments. i have in no way tried to avoid thier annoying , harrassing phone calls. (It is thier job, to find out why I am behind) however, as honest as I am being with them doesn't seem to matter. Most are rude and threating.( I too have had family members called, saying that they can't reach me - BS! I always respond to them) I have asked them for help in deferring payments for a few months to enable me to get back on my feet and back to work. I have had responses telling me they can't do that or they will have to charge me a car payment to that! Does that make since to you??? I tell them that if I could do that i would make my car payment! They are insensitive about my situation and tell me that there is nothing they can do about my medical problems. (to which I am not asking them to do) I am simply asking them to help me deferr these payments to get me and my family thru a rough time! They could care a less! I would never purchase another vehicle from them. My spouse owns a chevy and they deffered 3 months - FREE OF CHARGE!! At this point i am ready to give thier vehicle back to them, and be done with them. i don't see the need to worry about my credit as they have trashed it already with there inability to help. Any other company that I have a debt with have been more than understanding and willing to help. i can only hope they never fall on hard times and have to deal with a company such as themselves!! I am only one person and yes i understand that the loan is my responsibilty, at the same time I did not ask for this illness nor do I need the added stress of such an awful company contanantly harrassing me! maybe if enough of us complain they themseleves will be closed down!!

These collectors are trained bullies, and unfortunately their tactics are not uncommon. Go to daveramsey.com and put "debt collectors" in the search engine. You will pull up some good articles on how to deal with these snakes, including knowing your legal rights. Just know that a lot of their threats are bluffs and much of what they do IS illegal--but why stop if nobody is around to enforce the law? You have to learn how to handle them and how to report them.

Next time you are in a bookstore, go pull Dave Ramsey's "Financial Peace Revisited" off the shelf and read the section on collectors--p. 99-104. Dave has had these collectors harass him and his family personally so he knows what you are going through. I highly recommend all his materials. He also has a syndicated talk show--sometimes he talks about how to handle these collectors which he calls "scum." The show is entertaining as well as informative and well worth tuning in to--see his site for details. Good luck, everyone!

When Birmingham Susuki was IN business they had a deal where if you bought a Grand Vititra, they leased you a Reno (They paid the lease) for two years. My daughter brought the SUV inorder for my son to get the Reno. 5 months later Birmingham Susuki went out of business. Without telling us that they were going out of business, they quit making the lease payments to GMAC. The Reno was repo-ed in the middle of the night. It took the police dept. to find out where the car had been taken so my son could get his personal belongings out.
BEWARE of too good to be true deals. The SUV's payments are to high for my daughter (I was helping with the payments till I had to buy my son another vechicle)I believe Susuki should have stepped up and helped with this situation!!!!!!!

Dave Ramsey is a snake oil salesman and has no idea what he is talking about as far as debt collection laws. I feel sorry for the unemployed people plunking down $140 for the Chinese-made Financial Peace University. Yes, publishing is a core business of Nashville, and still Ramsey has this trash made overseas for a bigger profit margin and sells to people struggling to survive in today's economy. Con artist creep.

Frank I have never been late in the 5 years we have been paying off our loan. These people have not only been rude but messed up our contract from the beginning. Put the wrong VIN on the contract! Items that we were promised that wold be fixed right away took weeks to fix. Every time took it in to let them know things like the air bag lights kept coming on they acted like we were crazy! Other major problems but under contract so had to pay. They finally fixed some after called the finance office & told them was going to the attorney general! Come to find out both air bags were defective! Had figured our payment wrong also so after approximately 1 1/2 years of that they called & so sweetly asked us to allow them to change it & in doing so they'd give us a couple months of no payments. Sweet right? the third payment would have been super low so we jumped on it. We made the low payment & then a regular payment but noticed on our statement that only like 30 cents had been taken from our balance due. Called them as we were concerned. Rudely explained to us that we then owed them now  on the 2 payments for interest even though they had made the mistake. Reminded them of why we had been given a break due to their mix up but they rudely informed me we should have read our contract on the back in the small print! Will never trust them again & will NEVER buy a car from them. Will tell everyone we know also such as this site!!!

I have had 5 car loans in my life.  2 from dodge, a honda, a toyota and now from suzuki.  i have paid all of my loans the same as i'm paying the suzuki. i have NEVER missed a payment and i have NEVER incurred a late fee either.  The only company that ever called me on the phone is suzuki.  they called at home and at work repeatedly.  very rude.  very unprofessional.   just this month they called me on july 4.  a holiday and a sunday.  the payment is not late until the 10th.  thats how every other company handles it.  i pay my mortgage that way and have never been called by them .
I also will never buy another suzuki.
to all you idiots who think everyone who gets harassed are deadbeats: I'm not.  my fico is 748!!!!
