Kids Klub
Complaint

I have not been to the gym in over a year because I was pregnant. Today, Saturday I decided to work out. I took my 10 month old and my 9 year old sons to the kids club. I walked in NO ONE greeted me or asked How could they help me. I could not tell who was working because the young woman who finally decided to walk up to the counter (was dressed in a coat zipped up) did not utter a word. She finally said do you have a tag (short) as if I was interrupting her from something. I gave her my phone number. I took my baby inside of the gate and struggled with him as I dragged a baby swing out of the corner to put him. Two other Kid Klub employees sat in chairs and did not even offer to help or ask me any questions about my child. I told my 10 year old son to pull up a chair and sit next to him. I walked out and complained to the person at the desk. I worked out for about 45 minutes because I did not feel comfortable leaving my children there. When I walked in one of the employees was sittiing on the counter TEXTING on the cell phone. Does LA Fitness not understand the liability if one of these children get hurt because of neglegence?! I complained again. And best believe when I get there Monday I will be speaking to the GM!

It wasn't 5 minutes and I realized that the check in and out process took her full attention far too often. Kids were permitted to bring their own toys - which meant that there were age inappropriate toys were laying around everywhere with no one watching to see if anyone was in danger of choking on something that shouldn't be there in the first place. Another kid is marching around the room with a giant pen on his shoulder and pointing it toward other kid's eyes. Then my boy was shoved to the ground by some older kid and the attendant had no idea.
I complained to the manager immediately and was told "yeah we know its not the best situation, we've asked for additional staff, but that's all head office allows us to do" - The attendants have no childcare training of any kind but they do have CPR. Well that will be handy if a kid has a heart attack I suppose. The incentive to watch the kids is apparently a free membership. I picked my boy up and quit the gym. If they cant invest in at least a 1:5 ratio and take childcare seriously, I'm not investing in their gym. I honestly don't know how more kids aren't seriously injured on a daily basis. They offer the service to get you in the door, after that good luck not worrying every second you leave your child with them. Never again.
