I have not been to the gym in over a year because I was pregnant. Today, Saturday I decided to work out. I took my 10 month old and my 9 year old sons to the kids club.  I walked in NO ONE greeted me or asked How could they help me. I could not tell who was working because the young woman who finally decided to walk up to the counter (was dressed in a coat zipped up) did not utter a word. She finally said do you have a tag (short) as if I was interrupting her from something. I gave her my phone number. I took my baby inside of the gate and struggled with him as I dragged a baby swing out of the corner to put him. Two other Kid Klub employees sat in chairs and did not even offer to help or ask me any questions about my child.  I told my 10 year old son to pull up a chair and sit next to him.  I walked out and complained to the person at the desk. I worked out for about 45 minutes because I did not feel comfortable leaving my children there. When I walked in one of the employees was sittiing on the counter TEXTING on the cell phone.  Does LA Fitness not understand the liability if one of these children get hurt because of neglegence?!  I complained again.  And best believe when I get there Monday I will be speaking to the GM!

You people sound like the dumbest parents ever! Why would you leave your young children in the care of someone that you're not 100% sure they'll be safe with??? I hope CPS is monitoring this thread and comes to pay you a visit.

"The dumbest parents ever" that comment was out of line and just rude. There are child care centers in gyms for a reason. They are getting paid to do a job and should take it seriously. Why would CPS pay a parent a visit for leaving their kids at a gym's child care???? It's not like we are leaving our babies home alone to work out.

I have worked at the Kids Academy inside of Lifetime fitness, and although I know you are talking about LA fitness kids klub I am sure that most of these programs are similar. My team worked really well with the children, made it a goal to teach and play games with everyone in group activities. Never while I was working were there complaints about any of the team members and we made very good relationships  with the parents and made sure we would give them updates as we checked their children out after their workouts. I would trust my child there and I am confident he would be taking care of.

LA Fitness is horrible! I've worked there and granted some locations are better than others but man I instructed there and during my class the teacher came to tell me that my son (1 1/2 yr old) fell off the slide and wasn't moving his arm. Come to find out he had sprained his wrists. They told me someone pushed them off then told the mother of the supposed kid who pushed him that they didn't really see what happened. F****** BS! I quit working at that facility. The other is better they have a new girl there who is pretty great. Greets the parents, writes down the children's names, makes sure they have your information, she's good. However, I am researching seeing what can be done because this is BS!

One of the reasons I joined LA fitness was for the convenience of having a place that my 11 month old could play in safety while I worked out and got a break. Well, the first day was a disaster. There is one attendant per 10 children regardless of their ages. This attendant also: checked kids in and out, was expected to feed an infant and watch toddlers and older kids all at the same time.

It wasn't 5 minutes and I realized that the check in and out process took her full attention far too often. Kids were permitted to bring their own toys - which meant that there were age inappropriate toys were laying around everywhere with no one watching to see if anyone was in danger of choking on something that shouldn't be there in the first place.  Another kid is marching around the room with a giant pen on his shoulder and pointing it toward other kid's eyes. Then my boy was shoved to the ground by some older kid and the attendant had no idea.

I complained to the manager immediately and was told "yeah we know its not the best situation, we've asked for additional staff, but that's all head office allows us to do" - The attendants have no childcare training of any kind but they do have CPR. Well that will be handy if a kid has a heart attack I suppose. The incentive to watch the kids is apparently a free membership. I picked my boy up and quit the gym. If they cant invest in at least a 1:5 ratio and take childcare seriously, I'm not investing in their gym. I honestly don't know how more kids aren't seriously injured on a daily basis. They offer the service to get you in the door, after that good luck not worrying every second you leave your child with them. Never again.

I'm interested in the LA Fitness here in Santa Clarita. I've got my grandkids I watch so I'd appreciate any input (good & bad) as to how the daycare is operated at the gym in Newhall Ranch Rd.

Some of yall are calling out other parents and saying there a piece of $h;t but really you have no place to talk you dont know these people your calling out and really the people who are gettypaid to watch the kids should do their damn job and not just sit there.

It seems that 99.9% of y'alls complaints are the types of things that happen anywhere, even in your own homes.  Your just complaining because you want someone else to tell you its someone else's fault and your justified to be angry.  If your going to someplace to take care of yourself, and leaving your children at a place that is not expressly designed for the care and education of children, don't expect them to have some sort of degree in childcare.  The reason they can't afford to bring in some sort of specialized childcare professionals and have a 100% childcare centered area is because there could be whole days where no one brings a child in and it is a huge waste of resources.  As a parent, you should also do your own due diligence and understand that BEFORE you utilize such a facility for the care of your most precious ones.  If you are not understanding this, then don't bring your children to this type of facility.  Hire a babysitter or take them to a daycare. For $10 a month, you a getting much more than what your paying for.

And yes, I am a parent and I do understand these types of things but I also go in and understand that any ration more than 1:1 means that the other adult must take their eyes off my child at some point in time, they are human. Even I don't sit there staring at my own child 24 hours a day to make sure they don't do something to hurt themselves, why would I try to hold someone else to a much higher standard than i would hold myself to, whether I'm paying them to or not.

My experience with the child center at LA fitness has been stellar.  We are at the Chicago Lawrence Ave club and the workers are very smiley, patient and caring

I started taking my daughter at 3 months to the LA fitness in Bala Cynwyd. I made nice with the lady who watched the kids and she was very attentive to my daughter. I would go on an off peak time so that it would not be too crowded. When I would come to pick my daughter up the worker would either be playing with my daughter or holding her. She was very attentive to my child. I have no complaints at all.
