For the past week or so I get phone calls at work from what appears to be a telemarketer; when calling the number there are no details given on what the company is, not even the name. The calls are coming from 800-919-8021.

I live in MI too, I have recently switched to Lakeshore Energy from DTE. I still haven't gotten my bill, it will come the first week in April. I wanted to make sure I was still on the budget plan so I checked with DTE and was told my new bill will be $254/mo with Lakeshore, I was paying $337.95/mo with DTE which included a home protection of $13.95 for my hot water tank and furnace; this is still included with the Lakeshore Energy plan. I checked out the BBB online and found Lakeshore has an A+ rating. From what I see, I'll be saving quite a bit of money every month.

Russ~ They may not be a "scam" in the sense of the word, but I can verify they are NOT saving you any money!  I pay my mother's bills (because she's older & I manage her finances) and I compare her Consumer Energy rates to my Lakeshore energy rates...Lakeshore is currently charging me $1.20 more per mcf than Consumer's is charging my mom's bill.  I agreed to switch because I was told I was getting a "guaranteed" rate because Lakeshore Energy purchased the gas in advance, therefore they could guarantee my rate to be cheaper than Consumer's.  BS!  Now, I'm locked into the contract.

Nice grammar you idiot.   '' I a rep for Volunteer"   I dont know who Volunteer Energy is, but if they hire reps like you, I doubt I want to entertain the thought of having you managed my energy accounts.

Since when do "Reps" of million dollar companies use their personal sbc email accounts

All the people on this page that think saving money on there gas bill is a scam is an IDIOT. Your state is deregulated Dumb $%*. Us Michigans control thats right I said CONTROL 1 line on our bill, It's the gas cost. Stop being [***] and actually read about your rights and listen to what those people have to say. Lakeshore is deff. the way to go. Iv'e had bad experiances in the past and Lakeshore understands our relationship is only secure in the way they treat the cost for our gas.

    sick of calling people
Im a rep for michigan gas and electric and am outsourced in florida. the only way to get off the call list is to say "im on the national do not call list so don't call me" we are told to not to take anyone off the call list unless this is said. I do not like my job the pay is crap, the bosses are mean, and I can't sleep at night because of the fact that I am calling people all day and if im not being cussed out i feel guilty for pretty much lying to them so i can make a deal that will probably never get me close enough to make more than minimum wage while i sit for 8 hours in a stuffy warehouse like building with no windows with 300-400  other people. so remember "im on the national do not call list so dont call me"

I've been getting these calls at least once a week since I moved into this apartment a year ago.  I work second shift so most of the time they wake me up.  I don't pay utilities here, my landlord does and I'm not giving out his number.  I've asked them to stop calling me countless times, in countless ways.  Being nice doesn't work.  Being nasty doesn't work.  Being on the Do Not Call list doesn't work.  This is the only solicitor call I receive here.  I couldn't care less whether they're the most legitimate company ever or whether they're a scam.  I don't care.  I just want them to stop calling here.  This is the most annoyingly persistent group of callers I've ever come across.  I doubt the callers even have a way of removing my number from their system.  I have had enough, yet they seem to have set it up in such a way that there's nothing I can do to stop the calls.  I don't fault the callers because people have to make a living, but this is one of the most despicable companies I've ever come across.

    Church Trustee
As a church trustee charged with finding out "if Lakeshore Energy is a scam" I find the responces above of many of the reps in at least that industry upsetting. I can't seem to tell how it works or if it is in the best interest of our congregation. Could sombody please speak plainly on the topic and list the Pros and Cons?

    Another secretary
Oh, yes, I'm a secretary, too. I just dealt with a rude, aggressive caller from Lakeshore Energy. He was very angry when I wouldn't put him right through to my boss. I told him to add us to his DNC list, and he said, that's why he needs to speak to a person who can make decisions-only they can tell him not to call. I told him, I am authorized to make decisions and don't call. He will never, never get through to my boss without me knowing who he is and why he wants to talk to him. Because that's the way my boss wants it. I have a talent for sniffing out a scam, (the obvious boiler room in the background is a huge tip off) as I did in this case. The earlier poster may belittle a secretary; my boss revers his, and both got the secretaries they deserve. (If he even has one.)

I've been with Lakeshore energy for almost a year, having switched from Consumers for my nat. Gas. In comparing rates between the 2 companies I've saved over $120 in the last 6 months alone. I expect it to avg. Out to $200+ annual savings. It's simple math !!!!!! Saginaw ,Mi.

FYI to the shills.  I was about to switch to Lakeshore but because of the unprofessional attitude of your employees in this thread, I've decided to just stick with Consumers.  It's not worth the hassle of dealing with scammers.

Check the rates since October 2012.  Lakeshore had been cheeper but since October they have been a lot higher than Consumers Energy.

I have also been getting several calls a day saying to stay on the line to save on my Dominion Gas bill. 3 or 4 times I have stayed on the line and asked them to stop calling and remove my number, but the calls continue.  The operator said she was calling from Live Voice and her name was Talitha and her agent number was 528. They always say they will remove our number and always hang up on me. Funny thing. I don't have gas hooked up to my house so one of these times I'm going to have them give me the big discounts they are so anxious to give me.
