We received a call from someone from Mega Million Dollar Sweepstakes in NY. He gave his name as being Michael Washington, and his boss who spoke to me was named Anthony McCoy.
They said that my husband had won $ 5 million and a 2012 Mercedes. I said that he had not entered any sweepstakes. They said it must have been randomly selected from a drawing from names they receive from magazines, etc. He had a very thick accent which was difficult to understand. I had to keep having him repeat things, and still missed 1/2 of what he said. He said "all we had to do" was to go and purchase a" green dot reload money pack card" at a CVC or Walgreen drugstore tomorrow, and then call him and they would deliver the car and the money in a locked briefcase with a code to our home. They would give us the code and we would receive $5 million. By the way, the card they wanted us to buy costs $299.00. Sure it does...
I told him that legitimate contests don't make you buy anything to win something. He said that it had to do with the Federal Trade regulations, and the IRS and Social Security and the large winnings. Yeah, right. He acted very offended that we didn't believe him. My husband hung up on him and he called right back again. He asked, Why did he hang up on me? I am trying to tell him he won $5 million and a new mercedes. He was very persistent, and asked if we didn't want the car or money what charity did we want to donate it to because it was written out in my husband's name.  We said the American cancer society, Diabetes, Parkinson's, ...take their pick. Then my husband, the wise guy, asked if he could deduct the $5million dollar donation on his taxes next year! : )

Received a call from Joe Freeman(funny accent) with Mega Millions on my answering machine. Gave me his phone number of 1-876-486-6140 and a code # Z1124L.  I called back and he told me I had won 2.5 million and a new mercedes and  to go to Walmart, Walgreens, or CVS and get a Green Dot card for $299 and he would call me back. I told him this did not sound legit.  Said they needed the # of the back of the card because the Fed. gov. required this in order to process the prizes.  I told him to come and deliver the cashiers check and the car and I would drive it and him anywhere and get the Green Card !!!!  He said this was not the way it worked.  Called the police and they said it was a scam and it was a number from India and if anyone came to my home to call 911.  Called Walmart and they said on the back of the card was a bar to scratch off and get the ref # and once you give this # out they can get the money without even coming into the store or have the card.  He called me back this morning asking if I got the card and I just told him yes but I would not give him the # over the phone.  He became very  upset. Asked me to describe the card and the color and asked me why I was acting this way.  I told him I thought it was a scam.  He said, NO and they were only 15 minutes from my  house--well an hour has passed their arrival time and guess what---NO CAR NO MONEY.  Ha Ha

Received a call from a John Gomez, NewYork with the Mega Millions Sweepstakes, stating I had won a new2012 mercedes and 555000.00. I asked how I had won this and he stated by using a credit card or debit card.  He talked on and on about the prize and said it will be delivered today, all I had to do was go purchase a greendot card from a CVS, WALMART or WALGREEN,and give him the number on the back of the card, Did I want this to be private or public! I was later told that all this was for the packageing code and federal registration to come into another state..But since the certified check couldn't go into deposit,it would have to be Monday at 1100 am before delivering both the car and check so two trips will not be made.  Needless to say I was scammed,  He was of spanish speeking decent sounding  Hispanic and very broken English,he been with the co for over 20 years and wanted to do a good job then he would have the opportunity to move up in the co by doing a good job                                WoW

I am ashamed to say that I have not only been taken, but taken twice. All these guys with the 876 area codes are in Jamaica. This the way these people make a living there. The American Dollar is worth $88.00 and change on an average every day there. I you get a call from Jamaica (876) area code, hang up. Don't give them any information, especially your address. When I refused to pay anymore, the guy told me he had friends that live in New York and not far from where you live, sweet dreams honey. I changed my phone number and got an alarm system. If you have caller ID don't pick up any 876 numbers and block them if you can.

They threatened to come to my house, I told them to come on.  Don't let their idle threats get to you, they are interested in your money, and will use fear tactics to get it. I personally don't think they are going to come because I believe they are not in the U.S.

I just receive a call from "Michael Stanford" from the number 908-248-6822
He claimed that I was the lucky winner of 2.5 Million USD and a Mercedes Bens! He informed me to go to WALMART and get a Money Card with a scratch off number on the back. He said he was with MegaMillion Sweepstakes on Staten Island, NY.

He was very pushy and rude after I told him that legitimate contests do not charge money to receive a prize. I spoke to an employee at WALMART and they told me to save my money and to forward the information to the Police Department.

"Michael" claimed that the prize was in a near by town.

Glad I checked and found out this was a scam!

    Thanks, Tom

Also got a call from 876 number.  He had a foreign accent and said his name Tom Jones...really.  I told him it was a scam and he got offended.  He started reciting scriptures from the bible telling me to trust him!  I told him I don't even know you, I have family members I don't even trust.  I told him I was going to have the police here when they came because I did not feel comfortable.  He said that is not necessary my guys have badges and one is an IRS agent.  I also got the charity option.  These idiots should be ashamed of themselves!

These losers just tried to scam my grandma! She was very skeptical so I told her that I'd do some research on the company...and boy-o-boy did I find a lot. They claimed that she'd won 250,000. She wasn't very interested but he's kept calling back.

Also, each time he called back his accent would slowly disappear. By the time he called back the fourth time his accent was gone.

Got a call this morning from a Rev. John Taylor. He is calling from a 573-693-2896 number.  He wanted me to get the Green Dot card for $499.99.  I told him I would have to speak with my husband because anything over $50 we discuss.  He stated this would be a nice surprise for your husband.  I told him has a Reverend he should know that in a good marriage people communicate and my husband and I have an agreement and it would not be honest of me to do this without discussing with my husband.  He has called back twice, I have not answered and he did not leave a message.  They are fools.
