sweepstakes scam

We received a call from someone from Mega Million Dollar Sweepstakes in NY. He gave his name as being Michael Washington, and his boss who spoke to me was named Anthony McCoy.
They said that my husband had won $ 5 million and a 2012 Mercedes. I said that he had not entered any sweepstakes. They said it must have been randomly selected from a drawing from names they receive from magazines, etc. He had a very thick accent which was difficult to understand. I had to keep having him repeat things, and still missed 1/2 of what he said. He said "all we had to do" was to go and purchase a" green dot reload money pack card" at a CVC or Walgreen drugstore tomorrow, and then call him and they would deliver the car and the money in a locked briefcase with a code to our home. They would give us the code and we would receive $5 million. By the way, the card they wanted us to buy costs $299.00. Sure it does...
I told him that legitimate contests don't make you buy anything to win something. He said that it had to do with the Federal Trade regulations, and the IRS and Social Security and the large winnings. Yeah, right. He acted very offended that we didn't believe him. My husband hung up on him and he called right back again. He asked, Why did he hang up on me? I am trying to tell him he won $5 million and a new mercedes. He was very persistent, and asked if we didn't want the car or money what charity did we want to donate it to because it was written out in my husband's name. We said the American cancer society, Diabetes, Parkinson's, ...take their pick. Then my husband, the wise guy, asked if he could deduct the $5million dollar donation on his taxes next year! : )

Said I won large sum of money from New York Megamill sweepstakes and a merc. car. Wanted me to
get a grren Dot money pack scratch card at K-mart about $200. he said. The guys would deliver the
car and certified check tomarrow after he called to see if I got the card and they would write me a check
for the $200 green dot money pack scratch card. DIdn't want me to mention this to anyone. Sounded
like a scam and I'm glad I did some checking. One of the numbers he gave me to check this out was
a number in Jamica. THey said they are in New York, Washington DC or Rock Creek , Ohio.
IF you haven't signed up for anything, YOu haven't won. When I told him it was a scam he told me it
was Publisher's Clearing House. I said where was Dave Sawyer then. I expected to see him tomarrow.
Oh, no he isn't coming. Laugh, Laugh. I'm glad I really thought this thru. Go with your gut feelings.....
850, 000 including 4 cars I can chose from. When asked how did I win the Mega Million Sweepstakes drawing? Especially that I'm a Southern California resident MICHAEL stated that my banking company select random members to be entered. At first I was excited about call, but once he continued on about paying up front fees totalling in the amout of $3,400 for taxes on the vehicle I choose from and $350 for a green dot card that I can purchase from CVS I thought to myself THIS IS A SCAM-WHAT A LOOSER lol. Who in HELL has to pay for an award I simply said to him! I hung up the phone and he called me back several times.
I hope you all that's reading these post take this into consideration and warn others because NOBODY HAVE TO PAY FOR AN AWARD. IF YOU WIN BIG MONEY LIKE THIS THEY AUTOMATICALLY TAKE THEIR PORTION BEFORE MONIES ARE DISBURSED!
Osteen and was a cousin of pastor Osteen as seen on TV. Very thick accect that was less every time he called.
"If you have not already purchased a Mega Millions ticket from a participating lottery, then this is a scam. You can’t win any legitimate lottery if you didn’t buy a ticket.
The scams take many forms and the scammers use many tricks. In most cases, the criminals e-mail or call to tell intended victims they have won a large prize. They might identify themselves as being with Mega Millions or another legitimate lottery, even though Mega Millions is a game, not an organization, and is only sold through participating lotteries.
These scams all have one thing in common: They try to trick you into sending them money or personal information by claiming that you have won a large lottery prize. The crooks usually try to get you to wire money for “taxes” or “fees,” or may try to get you to provide them with a bank account number, which they will then clean out.
Please contact your local lottery if you have any questions or have received a suspicious email or phone call.

I, too, just got scammed. I got sucked in, I am a desperate man with a shred of hope left, and I BIT. The name they used for me is Robert Carter...and 876 area code, which I believe is also gonna rack up my phone bill.
