We received a call from someone from Mega Million Dollar Sweepstakes in NY. He gave his name as being Michael Washington, and his boss who spoke to me was named Anthony McCoy.
They said that my husband had won $ 5 million and a 2012 Mercedes. I said that he had not entered any sweepstakes. They said it must have been randomly selected from a drawing from names they receive from magazines, etc. He had a very thick accent which was difficult to understand. I had to keep having him repeat things, and still missed 1/2 of what he said. He said "all we had to do" was to go and purchase a" green dot reload money pack card" at a CVC or Walgreen drugstore tomorrow, and then call him and they would deliver the car and the money in a locked briefcase with a code to our home. They would give us the code and we would receive $5 million. By the way, the card they wanted us to buy costs $299.00. Sure it does...
I told him that legitimate contests don't make you buy anything to win something. He said that it had to do with the Federal Trade regulations, and the IRS and Social Security and the large winnings. Yeah, right. He acted very offended that we didn't believe him. My husband hung up on him and he called right back again. He asked, Why did he hang up on me? I am trying to tell him he won $5 million and a new mercedes. He was very persistent, and asked if we didn't want the car or money what charity did we want to donate it to because it was written out in my husband's name.  We said the American cancer society, Diabetes, Parkinson's, ...take their pick. Then my husband, the wise guy, asked if he could deduct the $5million dollar donation on his taxes next year! : )

I just got a call today from  James JEfferson  tel. 876-278-0297.  First he called himself Dave Washington.
Said I won large sum of money from New York Megamill sweepstakes and a merc. car.  Wanted me to
get a grren Dot money pack scratch card at K-mart about $200. he said.  The guys would deliver the
car and certified check tomarrow after he called to see if I got the card and they would write me a check
for the $200 green dot money pack scratch card.  DIdn't want me to mention this to anyone.  Sounded
like a scam and I'm glad I did some checking.  One of the numbers he gave me to check this out was
a number in Jamica.  THey said they are in New York, Washington DC or Rock Creek , Ohio.
IF you haven't signed up for anything, YOu haven't won.  When I told him it was a scam he told me it
was Publisher's Clearing House.  I said where was Dave Sawyer then.  I expected to see him tomarrow.
Oh, no he isn't coming.  Laugh, Laugh.  I'm glad I really thought this thru.  Go with your gut feelings.....

I  had the very  call as Karen  on September  13 2015   But he want me to call  Wells Fargo  at  1-800-413-9608  he gave me  a account number   And a. PIN number to tell the Wells Fargo  after I gave them the information they would give me the amount that I  have won  Then he would call me back  in five minutes  so he  need to  get it delivered today .  When he. Mr  Washington called back he said did you call Wells Fargo.   ( yes )  he ask what they said ( I said not a thing they just  ended the call not a thing was said  Mr Washington said do you want the prize. To day ( yes ) His reply was  you need to go to the back and put 1200.00 in that account that I just give you so we can deliver the prizes you have won, don't worry this is not a scam  I wouldn't do that to anyone . When I told him I would give him the money when he delivered the car and the other gifts , I then will give him the money,   Honey I.  Just told you I need the money first rules of the us government  for any money over 10 thousand.  If you don't want the prize I  will have to give it to someone else (. Give it to some one else I don't  want it. ).  What he didn't know that I called the bank for them to see if that number was  real ( as you all know it was not ).   I gave the bank all the information . So they would know this was going on .  They took the report and took all the steps to  report it as a big scam . Keep your ears and eyes and brain awake.  They no not give up they just keep call back. i have got as many as 28 calls a day for the last 3 weeks. Plus one at three o'clock  am.  Putting a block on my phone didn't. Work they just keep calling from a different number and it always has just the state where they should be calling from.  It is a pain.

Just received a call from MICHAEL in NY stating I won
850, 000 including 4 cars I can chose from.  When asked how did I win the Mega Million Sweepstakes drawing? Especially that I'm a Southern California resident MICHAEL stated that my banking company select random members to be entered. At first I was excited about call, but once he continued on about paying up front fees totalling in the amout of $3,400 for taxes on the vehicle I choose from and $350 for a green dot card that I can purchase from CVS I thought to myself THIS IS A SCAM-WHAT A LOOSER lol. Who in HELL has to pay for an award I simply said to him! I hung up the phone and he called me back several times.
I hope you all that's reading these post take this into consideration and warn others because NOBODY HAVE TO PAY FOR AN AWARD. IF YOU WIN BIG MONEY LIKE THIS THEY AUTOMATICALLY TAKE THEIR PORTION BEFORE MONIES ARE DISBURSED!

Just got a call from "John Benjamin" from Megamillion and the story is about the same as commented herein. I told him to FORGET IT -- that I was reading about their activities being SCAMS--that I was not planning to BUY anything. At first he said he was calling from UPS to deliver something after I buy a green dot money pack. At one point he said not to buy card and they would be at my house at ten o'clock tomorrow (7-25-13) for a meeting and would bring cashier's checks for 2.5 M "after I buy the green card."

Hi a David Clark called me this morning claiming that I won 350, 000.00 from megga million sweepstake. And I am to pay a fee for a courier to deliver me the cashier's check for 350,000 or 100,000 in cash; send today is the last day to get my winnings. So i asked why can't you just send it normal mail. His reply was it is to large of  a amount to send out . And if you was to deposit the check in your bank they would think it was fraud. Needless to say i said I would call him back.

I did one thing wrong here...I did not do my homework, first.  Here's what MegaMillions website has to say...
"If you have not already purchased a Mega Millions ticket from a participating lottery, then this is a scam. You can’t win any legitimate lottery if you didn’t buy a ticket.

The scams take many forms and the scammers use many tricks. In most cases, the criminals e-mail or call to tell intended victims they have won a large prize. They might identify themselves as being with Mega Millions or another legitimate lottery, even though Mega Millions is a game, not an organization, and is only sold through participating lotteries.

These scams all have one thing in common: They try to trick you into sending them money or personal information by claiming that you have won a large lottery prize. The crooks usually try to get you to wire money for “taxes” or “fees,” or may try to get you to provide them with a bank account number, which they will then clean out.

Please contact your local lottery if you have any questions or have received a suspicious email or phone call.

    More information"

I, too, just got scammed.  I got sucked in, I am a desperate man with a shred of hope left, and I BIT.  The name they used for me is Robert Carter...and 876 area code, which I believe is also gonna rack up my phone bill.

got a call from 8762780297.  Claims to be the person who is supposed to deliver "my package".  I said i am not expecting a package.  He said ... "you did not receive a letter notifying you that you had received a prize from Publisher's Clearing House?".  I don't enter those sweepstakes so i told him i knew it was a scam and hung up.  He did not know my name or i assume he would have used it in the opening greeting.  Very heavy accent.  I wish there was a way to block all calls from 876 (Jamaica) on my land line since i apparently get a lot of calls from people in Jamaica.  i have an app that blocks by area code on my cell phone but Verizon does not have that option for land lines -- very sad.
