I just wanted to let everyone know that State Street Tire is a great place in the Akron Area! I was driving to work yesterday and hit a pot hole. I bent the rim of my tire. I pulled into state street tire, and within fifteen minutes it was fixed, and I was back on the road. The most amazing part was that they did not charge me anything!! They just told me to remember them the next time I need tires. I hope that you will remember them too!

I WENT TO STATE STREET TIRE AND HAD A OIL CHANGE DONE, I ALSO ASKED THEM TO CHECK MY BRAKES BECAUSE ANOTHER GARAGE HAD TOLD ME I NEEDED OVER $500.00 WORTH OF REPAIR, THE MANAGER ROSS TOOK ME OUT EXPLAINED TO ME I DIDN'T NEED ANYTHING AT ALL AND I COULD WAIT ON MY BRAKES FOR A FEW MONTHS.
ALL I CAN SAY IS GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM. I WOULD RECOMEND THEM TO ANYONE.

My idiot light (check engine soon) was on, so I stopped by a "well known/name brand" shop who gave me a quote of about $150 telling me there was a small leak in my gas line and/or gas tank, which had to be tested with a smoke test which would take a lot of time and expense. They told me if it was a small pin hole leak, it would probably be covered under the $150, but if there was a problem elsewhere, it could cost more.  My parents always told me to get more than one quote, so my next stop was at State Street Tire.  They guy there, Brandon, I think, , ,  took my gas cap off and showed me that the rubber seal had cracks in it (just little bitty ones) but he told me that was probably the problem.  He told me to stop by after work and they would have a new gas cap for me.  So, after work I stopped by and got my new gas cap, and they hooked a box up to my dashboard and reset the idiot light.  It's been about a month now, and my idiot light has stayed off, , , everything is great and it was a LOT less than $150 !

If you could see how off center the hitch is, you'd understand why he's complaining even after a refund.  Wouldn't you if you had to pay someone else to fix a crooked, poorly installed hitch?  And no he isn't 50, he isn't a stock boy, he has a great life, he is a 4th degree black belt, and nonliar is a liar. No business is perfect and sometimes bad things like this happen.  It doesn't mean Sate Street Tire is a bad place to go for vehicle maintenance or repair.  By all means go to them, but when you buy a product lets say from Sears that your unhappy with or doesn't work right, don't take it back, zip your lip, deal with getting screwed, and take note of how happy you feel about that.

I have purchased at least 5 sets of tires from these guys, I have all my cars and kids cars serviced and repaired there. I find it hard to believe this post was ever started, if the employees there did not do a great job I wouldnt be a loyal customer. State Street Tire does a great job I would recommend them to everyone I know.

No I would not complain and I definetley would not start some web bashing. Since the money was refunded. I asked Ross about this and ask if he seen this post he chuckled and said "yes I seen it, I refunded his money and here let me show you pictures" and told me his side of the story. After seeing the pictures I believe Ross.

My fiance and I have been looking for new tires (no easy task these days). We end up calling every place in town and getting the same story. Exploring every option, we look on-line as well as local and national tire stores. My fiance talks to the owner of State Street Tire on Manchester Rd who convinces her that his place is the best around. After looking around a little more, we narrow our purchasing decision down to 3 options. I call State Street Tire to get a quote. WOW! After way too much haggling and them admitting that the "free" services they offer are NOT REALLY free, we reach a decent overall price on tires and services. I tell my fiance we found our place and call to make the appointment and, WOW again!! The guy on the other end of the phone tells me he is the owner and he CANNOT honor his employees previous quote and there is nothing he can do. He ends our conversation by telling me he is "sorry" and he will reprimand his employee (like that does anything for me).

I want every tire customer to know, this place made tire shopping MORE of a hassle and really irritated me but more important, my fiance feels like she was vouching for this LIAR when telling me how great State Street Tire could be. NOT a good experience at all. Hey State Street Tire... get a clue but more important, get some customer service. Thanks

I am Ross the owner of STATE STREET TIRE and I would like to respond to this statement.First fact is everything is included in our tire price there is no additional charges if we quote you $95.00 per tire that price not only includes mounting, balancing, new rubber valve stem, tire disposal, lifetime rotation, lifetime wheel balancing and lifetime flat repairs and it also includes the state exise tax. Our Cooper branded tires come with Road Hazard warranty for the first half of the tire. The only thing not included is sales tax. Fact number 2 there is no haggling the price is what it is, we guarantee we will beat anyones price comparing the same tires to the same tires.
As far as you situation you or your fiance came up with a different size tire [205/60r16] instead of the correct size 205/55r16 for your pt cruiser, as I said before I was sorry my employee went down that road to change sizes and try to get your price lower to accomodate you and your fiance, but that would not be the right thing to do. My employee is fairly new in the tire business and he has some more to learn as we all do.The correct thing would have been simply to move you down a notch in tire quality to fit your budget, and thats why I was going to sit down with him and explain the proper way to do this. I apologize for any mis comunication and I can assure you we didn't mean any inconvienence for you.

I went to State Street Tire to get my brakes fixed, I was so impressed by their service I ended up buying all new tires too. I felt the prices were fair and the staff honest. As I travel frequently, I feel better knowing that my wife and daughter can go to State Street Tire and be treated well and not be overpriced.

I recently had a nail in my right rear tire. As I was driving down the street I heard the noise "click, click, click" as the tire rotated. I pulled into State Street Tire and asked them to take a look. The employee found the nail. I asked him to repair it. He jacked the car up and removed the tire, plugged the tire and checked for leaks. After being there for 7 minutes or so my car was ready for me to go. I go inside the office and to take care of the bill, and there was a gentleman named "Ross" and he stated to me, "no charge". I am currently looking to purchase new tires for my car and I am going to be going to State Street Tire as well.

Troy Oligney - Oligney Automotive Repair
My name is Troy Oligney and I am the owner of Oligney Automotive Repair. My shop is brand new and I am not able to do alignments or change tires yet. When customers of mine ask for these services, I always send them to STATE STREET TIRE.
STATE STREET TIRE is the most reliable, honest and inexpensive shop I can refer them to. Ross has been helping me and my entire family with tires and alignments for years and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
Every business has a few disgruntled customers (as so do I), but you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try.

Hi Ive been dealing with state street since I moved in the neighbor hood about three years ago. I can tell you that I'm a real tight [***] and search lots of different options before handing over my money.  State street has been fair to me and even went out of his way to find me a cheaper part to fit my budget. Fixed my flats for free even added services that I needed for free of course I spent over 500 that day. Ross and my wife doesn't get along but in fairness she is mechanics nightmare.  Pretty convenient hours and straight shooters. Love the Cooper cs3 tires. Anyway this shops about as good as it gets. I'm sick getting ripped by other places so I mostly try and do the work myself but if I don't have time or the will Rosses' shp will be my first estimate. Btw I waited couple hours to long to purchase some tires and they were sold. So don't hesitate Ross has the best prices and new allignment machine
