Recieved a call from a man named John Nelson, with very thick accent. He put his Supervisor, Anthony Johnson, on the phone, upon my repeated request,  demanding $956 to be paid immediately to a business called Cash Advance America for an alleged loan he claimed my wife failed to pay over a year ago. Never had a loan from them, never heard of them. He said if she didn't pay today that another company called American Law Division had a "senior" attorney ready to file suit against her tomorrow in "Oklahoma Court" for over $4000 after attorney's fee's. He had the last four digits of her social security number. He never could furnish our address. He claimed her employer was also being "investigated." He also called my wife at her work place earlier in the day. He told her she had failed to take care of her business and that she would "end up behind the bars."  She continued to ask for a Supervisor and was told by Anthony that he was the Supervisor. She asked for his Supervisor because, while he claimed to be American and had an American name, his accent was so thick she could not understand a word he was saying. He then started talking really quickly and shouting. She just kept shouting back for him to put someone who could speak English on the line and he hung up.  He also told her his company had sent 18 emails that had gone ignored. ROFL! Of course, those types of emails always get deleted!  Not a letter or correspondence one.  Just the emails... which, upon sifting through my past email logs were not found.  My wife was very upset and I told her it was a scam and I'd be able to find something on the internet to prove it. Of course, I have found that proof here. You'll also note, they never put a phone number on their web sites.  I'll have to see if they keep calling before I try to take any legal action, which I doubt would do any good since they are foreigners. I suppose I'll play along and make them mad everytime they call... who know's it might be fun!

I am glad to know what the heck this is. They have been callin me 3-4 times a day for about the last 2 weeks. They leave messages on my voice mail. They have said they are pressing charges against me for fraud. They have told me that I will be placed in handcuffs and arrested. I have never called them back because I knew I did not do anything wrong. I didn't borrow any money from anyone, and certainly I've never committed fraud.my 27 year ok'd son who lives back at home with me also got the same call, stating they were going to arrest him. He called the State Attorney General who the. Cled the scam artists and they have never called back for my son. I guess I will call the attorney General about them harassing me, and maybe that will have them cease their BS?
They do all have very heavy accents (sounds like Middle Eastern), but they all use American names. Jason, Joseph, Adam etc...
Makes me sick that people do this kind of crap. It's just so wrong.

This continues on a regular basis.  I am in Wisconsin and getting the same calls - over the past six months have received from four different "Legal Firms" - from the United Nations Legal Department to the "law firm" representing Cash Advance America.  They all have the same accents - some heavier than others with the same, or similar claims.  Usually they are male, last week I had a female caller who was very timid and humg up very quickly when I asked for written verification of her claim.  I said - if you have my email please send me verification of this claim that I may take to my attorney.

When you point out that this is not the way legal proceedings are handled and that it is unreasonable to expect someone to confirm any confidential personal information over the phone as it could always be someone attempting to defraud you, they go off.  Some respond with "All right, if you cannot verify the information this will go right to the authorities and I wish you good luck in jail and have a Blessed day."

The very best response I have found is to politely respond with, "I am sorry, can you hold for just a moment?"  They usually say yes and then you respond with "Thank you, I just needed a moment to begin recording this phone call, you may proceed."  At that they usually hang up - I have had a couple go into extremely foul language as I hang up.

The other is to speak very slowly and have them repeat everything they say to you - then you tell tham that you need to gather accurately all the details of the phone call for the report to the FTC and the State Attorney General's office complaint.  That usually results in a very rapid disconnect.

It makes me ill that they are truly trying to steal from people that are working hard and just trying to meet their responsibilites in tough times.

Haven been getting calls from some prick named "Roger Hammer", this fool tells me I was listed as a reference on a loan my mother took out. He says that the case will be "downloaded" if she doesnt call him back and pay her outstanding debt. I asked for documents and he said that I would get a subpeona and a cop at my door step. He has a thick [***] accent, most likely [***] some other type of dirt eater. Tired of this [***]. I work nights and this [***] [***] keeps waking me up!!

I recieved this type of call from 972-348-9745 from a heavy Indian accented person who said he represented Keller Law firm on behalf of Cash Advance America ( he provide a name like Winston Smith, yea right....)  He said this was related to $ 300 loan made in June 2011.  Of course I had no recollection because I did not request one. Any how, when promted for info he did provide ss# address, bank account/routing info which freaked me out a bit, but led me to believe some online site I had visited had been compromised... I told him i would call back ...thanks to your site I found this to be a scam..  I called him back now recording the coverstation and reconfirmed the info and threats of "criminal cases" being logged.  I informed him the call was being recorded and I had forwarded his info to the FBI.  This is where his scam broke down, as he now threaten that I would have the local sheriff office go to my house..  Righttt!..from last i understood...even if the dept was valid...it would be a Civil not Criminal matter.  this is not England back ing the 1700's. and we do not have debter Jail..  hope this helps you

I have been getting the same scam calls for a few weeks now.  I knew it was a scam because clearly your from India and your name does not match.  Not to sound prejudiced or anything but how many people from Indian have names like, John Nelson, Joe Wilson, and John smith..come on "Really".  They all of course are claiming that I got some payday loand from Cash Advance America and will be receiving a subpoena any day now and I will have to settle this matter in court.  Unlike some of the other postings, they refuse to give any information like date of supposed transaction, the amount, and even the name of the banking institution.  I don't even answer the phone, I shoot them straight to voicemail, eventually they'll stop calling.  It's pretty sad that in our times when the economy is bad and people are financially strapped, that people are still coming up with ways to try and scam money out of hardworking people.  Here are some of the numbers they called me from.

I just received the same phone call from Cash Advance America claiming I received a loan from them for $495 in October 2010.  They claimed they had filed a lawsuit to get the money.  I have not received any court documents relating to this.  The person on the phone had a heavy accent and I could hear other people in the background yelling into phones.  The number showing was 704-990-6618.

I've been recieving numerous calls from these "Cash Advance America" folks saying they deposited money into my account & that I'd failed to pay them back. This guys accent was so thick I could not understand a word he was saying. Stated I owed $300 + $200 in fees..but they did not want that money. They want over $3000 in court/legal fees from me because I committed fraud againist their company. Bunch of [***]!!! I Never had a loan from them, never heard of them. I asked him about the date & he said he could not give that information, Said they were contacting my employer to inform them of the fraud I had done. Asked for my lawyer's #, told him I didn't have one and that I had never received any money from this company. Stated that the company belonged to him & that I needed to go to the courthouse & pick up my suepena paperwork. Dude even had my SS# and said they were informing the SS department of what I'd done so they could cancel out my SS# entirely! He was very rude by the way...don't fall for it, this is truely a scam!!

Today I received a phone call from 786-378-6661 the gentlemen said he was Attorney Jason Miller ( American name and strong accent I could hardly understand him) calling on behalf of Cash Advance America saying my husband received a loan in August and the funds were not in our account to pay back the loan. We never received a loan. Then asked me for our account number he did have the last four of my husbands SSN# and ask me to confirm the rest of the SSN#. (never gave SSN or account info.) He said our county sheriff's department had the papers to serve on my husband. So I drove to our local Cash Advance with him on the phone and he kept saying they could not help me anymore because he had the file. Once I got to the Cash Advance Jason got upset at the lady and hung up the phone. He said my husband was being charged with check fraud and he is going to jail. I went to our local sheriff's department and they have nothing on file. I called Jason back to get more information for our local police department. He could never come up with a loan date just a due date. I asked him for the check number and he said he did not have that information. ( Even though he had the file from Cash Advance) He could not verify the loan went in my account and I asked him how we got the funds and he said cash. ( But with no check to pay back the loan) But Cash Advance has no record of this loan. The story never made since and he keeps changing the story. All Americans beware.

I just received a call from a dude with an indian accent saying that I owed a loan from Cash Advance America. He said he was from Anderson Law Firm and he told me that I owed $300 on a cash advance and that it was racked up to $5000 total. He called me from (727)386-9962 and he had my email address, SSN, and address! Scared me half to death because he threatened to call the cops on me! I told him that I never got a loan with them, and I got very testy with him. He even hung up on me twice so I knew he wasnt legit. I want to call him again and make him think I am going to send him some money, but I dont have the energy for that mess. Now I feel like I need to freeze my accounts and everything because of this mess.
