Complaint
Joan Levesque
Country: United States
I had not ordered the subscriptin to Good housekeeping and after several requests for payment and receiving the magazine I finally paid the $7.00 plus charge. I recently received a bill for $15.33 I wrote on the bill cancel, I then received another bill and again wrote on it Cancel and even wrote on the envelope CANCEL! then I went on line and canceled it on line . Today, I received another bill saying it was the SECOND request for payment. I WILL NEVER AGAIN READ THIS MAGAZINE DUE TO THEIR BILLING!!!!!!!
I will NOT sent to these people one penny for the magazines they are now sending to me. They continue to send the magazines which I will CHUCK INTO the GARBAGE!!!! Plese let them know that that type of billing is only getting people to not read their magazine. Good Housekeeping is now on my DO NOT READ LIST AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW OF MY PROBLEMS WITH THEM, THEY WILL CONTINUE TO LOOSE READERS DUE TO THEIR INABALITY TO UNDERSTAND WE DO NOT WANT THEIR MAGAZINE. JOAN LEVESQUE, 741 TYLER ROAD, lEXINGTON, TN 38351 . Please stop the delevery and constant billing of a magazine I do not want!!!!!!

The timing of the "renewal notice" may or may not indicate it's from the publisher.
There are complaints against Good Housekeepinig (and other Hearst publications) reporting "chicken billing" to coerce customers to "renew", even when they may not want to. These often come from "marketers"/"collection agences" like Sunrise Credit or North Shore, who use carefully worded renewal notices to imply it's already too late to not renew, or that this "delnquent account" might "go to collectons".. If you don't want to renew, just contact the publisher directly to notify them, and they will generally go away.
Another possibility, suggested by the price higher than the publisher's own online prices, is that one of several fraudulent magazine marketers is attempting to muscle ahead of the publisher, sending out a bunch of "renewal bills" and hoping to confuse existing GH customers into paying them to "renew" instead of the publisher directly. They may even just be guessng, blasting out a million "renewal notices" hoping to catch some suckers. Or they might use the incessed callbacks as an excuse to "telemarket" for several months, getting around the Do Not Call laws.
What are the details of this "renewal notice"?
Any "agency" names?
Any addresses or phone numbers?
Is your name and address spelled the same as on your magazine label?
Does it include your actual current account number, or is it real vague?

request to confirm the cancellation.
I also have it with the name Pete Arneson (now deceased).
Please combine these, so I get one magazine under one name--Dorothy Arneson.
