A message was left on my voicemail by someone named Susan, that I had been accepted and approved for health insurance as of midnight tonight which was Aug 15th. Not realizing that this was not the company that I had applied to, I called Susan back and a person answered and said Susan would call me right back, she did not ask for my phone number. So, I waited for about 30 minutes and called back. I asked to speak to Susan and was told (the same voice from the first call) that she was on another line and she asked how could she help me. I told her that I was calling because Susan had left a message that I have been accepted and approved for health insurance as of midnight on Aug. 15. The person on the other end became very rude, and said only my quote had been accepted. I said what do you mean, only my quote had been accepted, she became very rude and said, "Don't you know what a quote it? I said Susan stated that my application had been approved. She said hold on so that I can get someone to explain to you what a quote is. She put me on hold for a few minutes and came back with some rude statement and stated Susan was busy since you do not know what a quote is. After hang up I went back and listened to the message that was left on my voice mail. Here is exactly how it was spoken by Susan: " Your application have been accepted and approved as of midnight today (Aug 15). I was out of town and called Susan back today which is Aug. 18 to confirmed that I had coverage and to ask a few questions about the new policy.

Generic sounding name. Difficult to trace.
Attempting to feign familiarity so they can appear to be someone you may already be doing business with.
Creating the impression that you must make an immediate decision or you will somehow lose something.
Vague promises that they can later deny making.
Attempt to control the direction of the conversation.
Rudeness when you question them in any way.
Somehow you are stupid for not knowing what they are calling about and just agreeing to it, immediately sending them money.

Got a call from them about health insurance. Said it was a Medical Savings Plan that was linked with Beech tree doctors. Got really pushy and tried to lock me into a plan. I asked her if she wouldn';t mind sending me the info so I can read it. She said that it was all done very well. I replied that I was an attoney and would like to take a look at it. Next thing I heard was dial tone.

Hey Sean,
Was working on your HSA rates and saw this was in my old mail. Didn't remember getting it.
Wow, I didn't know any of the Forth Worth Insurance Companies still existed. There use to be a lot of them based on different "associations". NASE (National Association for the Self Employed) was the very first. Latter you had National Heath, Liberty National, United Benefit Life, MEGA Life, IAAI (Insurance of America Agency Inc) and at least 5 or 10 others.
Basically they are a pyramid market in the insurance industry. They hire a lot of agents and sell a beefed up hospitalization plan. Not major medical. It is most likely not major medical but a scheduled hospitalization plan.
Both of the companies Freedom Life and National Foundation are B- AM Best Rated. None of the companies I work with are under an A rating and all of them are major medical. Which means they cover anything medically necessary not just a schedule of coverage's like hospitalization plans do.
I know these companies well. I first worked with United Benefit Life as a Regional VP and later I worked for IAAI (mentioned above) as a Regional VP over the South East from 1996 to 2002. I had 150 agents and did a little over 5 Million in annual business with them. Cant even tell you how many times I have been to Fort Worth and stayed in the "Bonnie and Clyde room" at the hotel in the stockyards.
Be careful anytime you hear of a carrier that is not a major insurer. Especially when it comes to health insurance. Most companies that are domiciled in Texas are there because of their lenient laws.
One last thing, unlike me who has 22 yrs in the industry, a broker, and sells everything except B rated companies. Their agents typically have been in the industry less than a year and are captive. That means they only sell that product. They will never offer you anything else.
I will get you over those rate by tomorrow. I am just running a little behind with school starting next week and Signe trying to get every last activity in.
Thanks for sending this to me. I am sorry if I went too deeply into it, but it brought back some old memories, both good and bad. LOL
Chris

The posts do NOT refer to "US Health Advisors", whoever they are.
Consumers have every reason to be suspicious of unknown callers trying to weazel into their bank accounts, since there are too many swindlers out there trying to do just that.
The nature of the reported calls was suspicious on their face, including reports of deceptive, abusive, and denigrating telemarketing. Such patterns of calls are common with fraudulent telemarketing, not just for fake "insurance", although abusive or denigrating sales practices are particularly common in fraud targetted at the elderly.
Such schemes often show up operating under numerous names that may sound similar to possibly legitimate companies. That should be no surprise, as consumers are reporting callers using "sales scripts" acting like they already have an existing business relationship. The use of generic names is consistent with the use of deceptive "sales scripts" fishing for an opportunity to impersonate another company.
For an example of fraudulent "insurance" schemes:

http://www.ftc.gov/os/caselist/1023071/index.shtm
"...
Federal Trade Commission, Plaintiff, v. Health Care One LLC, also doing business as "HealthcareOne," "Americans4Healthcare," "Citizens4Healthcare," "EasyLifeHealthcare," "Elite Healthcare," "Global Healthcare," and "Republic Healthcare"; Americans4Healthcare Inc.; Michael Jay Ellman; Elite Business Solutions, Inc., also doing business as "EasyLife Healthcare," "Elite Healthcare" and "Republic Healthcare"; Robert Daniel Freeman, also known as Dan Freeman; Mile High Enterprise Inc.; and Bryan Matthew Loving, Defendants
(United States District Court for the Central District of California)

With fraud, names mean nothing. They change them as often as their underwear, probably more often.
You want to see what they are up to?
Search on the phone number, on 800notes.com
You will find all their "sales" variations, under whatever names they are using today, including patterns of deception or coercion they might not have tried on you.
Just as a key market for insurance is older people, a key market for fraudulent "insurance" schemes is the same. They have some money, many are too trusting, or even fearful of "medical expenses", and they are both easier to con, and easier to deny conning.
Perhaps you should be careful who you vouch for.
They are looking for people they can deceive and panic into divulging account information, and as long as some percentage of calls pay off, they just keep calling.
That is how they got my number. I was trying to get health insurance quotes through the above stated name/website.
Spoke with a Kim Tucker who supposedly handles "benefits packages." Stated a $124.00 enrollment that would start only in five days from the day she spoke to me. That's suspicious on it's own.
Then there was the $135.00 application fee. She stated that the plan would be Consumer Assistance provided through 'Services Association." Look it up, this is NOT a health plan at all. Medivac, Aetna, etc... she brought up legit plans that would be accepted, and wanted me to enroll immediately.
Luckily being suspicious enough, I thought to either a) hang up on her or b) see what she would say if I gave her a reasonable answer an ordinarily credible person would understand. She hung up after saying "thank you for taking up my time" once I explained I'm not done researching available plans. Lol, well, I thought to myself cry me a river, I'm shopping for health insurance (sad state of healthcare as it is).
They also ask if there is something you're not satisfied with and that they've already done the research through 19 different national databases. To argue you out of your money I suppose, I didn't let the call get that far.
Of course you can. You can sue for anything you want. You may not win but you can sue. Anyways, if the deposit was taken under misrepresentation, or involved any type of fraud, then it is probably actionable.
