Do not talk to Yellow Business Ads.  I received a call from them asking if I wanted to renew my company's advertising.  I said no I was not renewing any advertising.  They have a recording of me stating this.  I really did not think about it much as I have a Yellow Pages ad, which I am billed an agreed upon amount monthly, and thought it was them calling.  The next week I received a phone call from someone saying they were in the Legal Department of Yellow Business Ads and that I needed to give them my credit card number to pay my final invoice.  I told them I would not give them my credit card number over the phone, and they could email the statement to me. I was shocked when the invoice came and it was for $789.00.  I checked all of my records for the past 6 years, and I do not have a contract with this company and have never recieved any type of communication from them until this call. Even though I have disputed the charges by letter and have asked them not to call again.  They continue to call and threaten to turn me over to a collection agency.  They say this invoice is for internet advertising.  I went to their website and entered my company name.  There is nothing there except my name, my company's name and my phone number, all of which is public record.

This is a common fraudulent "business directory" scam.

They make deceptive calls, to record what they later misrepresent as some "agreement".

Send them a letter, mailed certified, notifying them that their "invoice" is fraudulent.

Then file fraud complaints with FTC, your state AG, and at www.ic3.gov, and file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector.

Also file a fraud complaint with BBB, so their activities are visible to others.

Ignore their threats, as this is a well known scam.

My church has been receiving phone calls and faxes for over a year from them.  I found out a way to get them off the phone quickly.  I said I have filed a compliant with the Indiana Atty. Generals office and they want your phone number, what is your number please?  She immediately Hung Up.

I have also received numerous calls with threats to turn me over to a collection agency.  I also received a call from a "collection agency" called National Collections & Recovery.  I never made an agreement with them for internet advertising, but they claimed that they have a voice recording of mine, but when played it was me telling them that I never agreed to the service.  Unfortunately I was not very smart and paid the bill thinking that I did not want my credit to get ruined.  The amount is always the same, $789.99.  I will try the above from tj.

I am in the middle of this scam and am looking for information as to what to do with it. I did not authorize this ad or any ad and need this info if anyone can help. I intend to file a complaint and as suggested will send them a letter, certified, telling them I will not pay.  The amount is the same as above.  Is there any end to the harassment?

Just an FYI. This past Friday, a Janet Sanders called. She lied to me and said she works for the credit bureau and that I must resolve the dispute with her immediately. She played the so called agreement that was taped by a Jane White of Yellow Business Ads. Janet harassed and threatened me on the phone and tried to tell me that I committed a federal offence by disputing the charge. I laughed at her & told her she is full of [***] because it is my legal right to dispute a charge that I believe to be a fraud, & that I didn’t have to attend law school to know this. I also asked her why she never responded back to the Better Business Bureau‘s notice of complaint that I filed against Yellow Business Ads. If they really want to resolve the dispute they would respond to BBB immediately (she doesn’t want to get caught). I also asked her why she and Jane White from Yellow Business Ads sound so identical. Are they twins? I told her to get a real job and stop stealing from people who actually work for a living. I talked with an agent from the FTC about this matter and she advised me to do everything I can to not allow payment to be made to Yellow Business Ads, including calling my credit card company to ask them not to allow Yellow Business Ads to resubmit any charges. This is a well-known scam. I have tried to contact this Janet Sanders on my phone that had her number on caller ID not even 3 hours after she called and harassed me. This number is no longer in service was the response I got. GO FIGURE! Don't talk to these people from Yellow Business Ads other than to tell them FOAD.

This all sounds very familiar. I too began receiving invoices from this company and then threatning phone calls. Stupidly I gave my card number to a person, Pamela, I think, who assured me that the invoice would be paid in full and that it would also pay invoices for other online ad agencies. Now I am receiving calls from National Collections and Recovery saying I still owe nearly 900.00 in interest and penalties but if I go ahead and pay they can reduce the amount to 700.00. This company is obviously one huge scam operation. Anyone considering doing business with Yellow Business Ads be warned...this is nothing but a scam. Do not talk with them and make sure they understand you will report them for harassing phone calls.

I got a call from Yellow  Business Ads claiming my son was requesting a final bill for services.  I told them they could send a bill to him via our home address if he had an account with them.  Turns out he'd never heard of them and he had no account with them, nor had we ever used any type of service they offered.  I am now getting a bill for $789.00 billed to me for my son's business.  I have no connection to the business.  I have not ever used their services and will not and have never signed anything or ever heard of these people before.  I called the phone number to contest the bill and all I got was someone speaking french.  I realize this is a scam and I will turn this over to the att. general's office in Austin so they can go after these scam artists.  I hope they did record me on the phone because it will show I was clueless about the whole thing.  So sad these vermine prey on the public.

Well I guess I'm in good company, thought I was the only one with this issue.  They've called saying that they have a recording of me agreeing to some contract.  I've asked to hear it twice and neither time have they called me back with this evidence. I'm not even the owner of this business so I don't have the authority to place an ad with them.  I believe that I'm going to have to take the steps posted above to get these fools to stop contacting the office.  Someone is always out for a quick buck, I can't stand it!

Same situation here in Texas - received call in Nov.'11 telling me I had to renew or cancel - first time I'd heard about this company and any internet listing for our company -
When I asked them to tell me who authorized their services 2 years ago, they gave me the name of an individual who wasn't even an employee of ours - and this person had also died 2 1/2 years ago !!

The same to women who sound alike are Jane White and Jannet Sanders. I ask that old water buffalo (Jannet Sanders) who harrassed me on the phone if she and Jane White were twin sisters. Jane White on the recording of an "agreement " (obviously a cut and paste edited recording) sounded exactly like Jannet Sanders from the credit bureau. LOL. I wish I could send you the recording so you could hear it yourself.

All this sounds so familiar.  On January 12 2012, a man with the name of Peter Edwards called stating that he was the Senior officer at www.yellowbusinessads.com He claimed that we were up for renewal as of January 13 2012 and we owed $789.99. He said that we had been advertising with them since August 11, 2009. I told him that I was unaware of any advertising with them and to cancel our account. He started to question my authority and said I had to be transferred to a different department that would not cancel my account but would suspend it. I would also have to sign a paper that I have the authority to suspend the account. He said that I was lucky that I was not getting charged a cancellation fee. He then transferred me to a different department and I expressed to them that I wanted to cancel my account. I ended up being hung up on. Within a couple minutes Mr Peter Edwards called me back and asked why I hung up on them? I told him that I had gotten disconnected and his reply was that they never disconnect anyone. He started to get very rude and accusatory. I told him that I thought he was jerking me around and that I was going to report him to the BBB. He then started to raise his voice and replied that they had an excellent standing with the BBB and that I needed to maintain a standard of professionalism. At this point, I had had enough. I told him that I wanted his phone number and I would have the president of our company return his call and she would not be very happy about this situation. He then told me that I would be getting a bill in the mail and then he hung up on me. This was a total scam.

Same story here, they billed me $789.99, and they've called me twice.  The first person who called me was very inappropriate at the end of the phone call and the second person was very rude.  I have no record of doing any business with them and I am not about to pay for something I have no recollection of.

I just got the famous invoice for 789.99 in the mail this morning after they had called a few weeks ago threatening to send us to collections. Also, the business address on the invoice is 7891 W. Flager St, Suite 346 Miami FL but the envelope was posted in Plattsburgh, NY. This is not from a legitimate advertising company. I'm submitting all of this to every agency that deals with fraud.

Submit this information and all evidence to the BBB, FTC, Attorney General, and your local law enforcement agency. You can even report them to the IRS for tax evasion and fraud. Give all the details about how much you lost if any. They will see just how much money is lost by small businesses. All of that money is making someone VERY rich free of tax. I know as a small business owner the IRS is more than happy to persue anything that they think will net revenue for it. (IRS always has to have it's share). You would not have to pay the IRS a dime, because the money was stolen from you and you did not gain any profits. The reason I say get the IRS involved is because these criminal have been doing this scam for a very long time and very seldom is anything done to stop them. The IRS always collects a debt, because it's got all of the agents working for it. Big government complaints  have a higher priority than that of  small business owners. Make them work for you.
