I received a fraudulent charge to my account for $309.99. I had never heard of this company or the website. I attempted to contact them to refute the charges and was placed on indefinite hold. I held for over 20 minutes before just hanging up and calling my bank. I have no idea how they got my information but it was certainly not from me.

This is BS this company charged my card over and over again at least 10 times for only god knows what. I called them and was told they could not fix it well i called my bank and the county sheriffs office they fixed it for me. NEW EGG you guys need to find a better way of taking credit cards because seeing as this is your problem that you are aware of I might just see your company in court for all the late payment fees and charges i have gotten because of your negligence to fix a very well known problem. and to Jon D you are special in more ways then even a doctor can figure out. call the cops have them stake out the house yea i will tell my local law enforcement how to do their job. how about you tell new egg to go suck a egg.

Matt H. I am a new victim of Newegg and Wells Fargo is not helping me here. I did not make the purchases on my CC statement that arrived mid. January 2016. In a 5-day period, Dec 23-28 2015, 12 transactions posted to my CC account all from Newegg. I did not even know what newegg was. I told the bank, Wells Fargo that the purchases were not mine. They told me no fraud occurred so now I have to fight Wells Fargo. This is definitely FRAUD! Any suggestions Matt?

I'm wondering if we have grounds for a class action lawsuit, and I would happily put my name on the list for one. New Egg is showing criminal negligence in their handling of credit card purchases. They make it extremely easy for someone to fraudulently use a credit card, and NewEgg.com's policies protect the thief more than they protect the victim.

Like most of you, I discovered multiple fraudulent charges on my credit card and all they could tell me was that someone had used my name and card to ship to a local address. Of course, they wouldn't TELL me the address, and even though my name was on the order and my card was used, they refused to give out any additional information.

And here's the kicker. Despite filing a fraud report with NewEgg.com, the thief is STILL MAKING PURCHASES ON THEIR SITE despite NewEgg promising me that the account would be frozen.

Not only will I never shop NewEgg, but I will jump on the first opportunity to sue them for negligence.

For those looking for common threads, I can say that I recently made purchases at Walmart and Videohive via Paypal. Ring a bell for anyone else?

Can't wait for karma to kick in...

That's not how the system works.. replies to PapaBret

You don't depend on the reliability of every merchant to prevent fraudulent charges.  That would make the whole system no more reliable than the weakest link.

FCBA (for credit cards) and FRB Reg. E (for debit cards and EFT) give you the right to dispute charges through your bank.  Your bank's fraud department then sends you an affidavit to sign and return, stating that you did not authorize the charge or benefit from it, and then your bank can reverse the charge. You should also have your bank immediately block the card number or shut down the account to prevent further fraud and theft, since you know your account number is out in the hands of thieve(s).

In the process, the money goes back from the merchant through your  bank back to you, and the merchant gets a chargeback fee.  If their chargeback ratio is too high, their merchant account can get cut off.  That way the system tracks the problems to their source, and pushes costs back on the merchants with poor security.

You are not in the law enforcement business, but you don't have to be.

By the way.. replies to That's not how the system works..
Christmas shopping season is prime fraud season.  The crooks know to take advantage of the large increase in charges to try to slip their fraudulent charges through into the mix.

I am a victim of CC fraud from newegg as well. I never heard of the company, have never been to their site until today, and never made the 2K in purchases charged to my CC in December 2015. These purchases were made between Dec. 22 through Dec. 28 2015. Someone was able to purchase 2K worth of merchandise and put it on my CC. The CC statement from Wells Fargo arrived in my mailbox and I was in shock. So these criminals had this merchandise shipped to where??? Do not know where the 2K worth of items were delivered. I never made any of the purchases from newegg, the purchases were not authorized by me. Wells Fargo told me today there was no fraud to my account...HELLO...I did not make or authorize any purchases on this card, that to me equals "='s" serious fraud.

Attempt today for debit of $1,096.95.  It was declined by the bank, which has cancelled the debit card.  I have never used the card; it has always been in file at home, and it is there now.  No idea how anyone would get the number.

Just found a charge on my paid off charge account in the amount of 290.00...a purchase from newegg. Same thing as the rest of you.  my bank closed the account and is sending a new card. However in the meantime there is still the wasted  time and energy spent disputing this.

May 6 and 9 2016 I was the victim of Newegg charges totaling over $500.  I additional charges over $100 by Bon-Ton, apparently the parent company of Newegg.  I was made aware of these charges by Visa fraud protection.  I had never heard of either of these companies until I was contacted by Fraud protection.  I also never made any purchases from either.  After doing Nadine online research, it is curious how often this company is involved in credit card fraud.  For this reason I therefore suggest all victims report this fraud to the FBI.  If they are Legitimate, then the FBI will find nothing, if not, then victimization will stop.  Better to be vigilant. REPORT TO THE FBI and help stop these interstate commerce crimes.

I have just discovered unauthorized charges to my credit card from NEWEGG, whom I have never heard of.  Charges were probably done on-line, not sure.  I called NEWEGG and they refused to credit the amount of $232.40 and told me that I would have to take it up with my bank.  I have spent 1/2 day working on this to try and fix this.  I am also going to report this to the Better Business Bureau as soon as possible.

    NewEgg - No Help
Similar story. Package delivered, sold to me, shipped to me, NOT bought by me. Bank Account deducted $299.  Called Newegg, gave them the IP address that was used to create a fake email - where Newegg was sending an electronic $100 gift card.  Told me to file a police report. Basically scammer orders item, and instantly receives an electronic $100gc.

Adela - No Help From Newegg
I received multiple emails of gift card purchases - initially a $500 gift card that did not go through - and then subsequent gift card purchases for $86, $88, and $86. Called Newegg, they told me to file a police report saying someone must have access to my credit card - which is completely not the case because it's in my possession. Their system seems easily hackable because the fraudster used my login/account with my saved credit card information. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am in shock Newegg would not issue a refund or do anything on their end.
