WOT is a serious ripoff and SCAM. They don't display their phone number, don't answer problems with their rating system and are unresponsive. They are ruining legitimate businesses and something should be done about them. They rate my website a Negative when it should be Question Mark because there are not enough ratings to determine. Yet, they argue with me for two months, don't fix anything and ban me from even logging into my account to track my ratings! All this and I paid them? I am supposed to be the customer? Maybe their location (Finland) protects them from US laws? I don't know how they
get away with such a large scam. Please be warned, they are a SCAM!
This is how the SCAM WORKS:
What happens is someone can login to the WOT account, and rate a site as phishy or unsecure for absolutely no reason at all. When this happens, anytime a customer goes to your website, a large popup will occur stating this is an unsafe site, and you should not proceed. This is ridiculous since WOT does not have any means of checking to see if this information is infact accurate.
They just go off of that single rating input by a random person. Now, the only way to have this popup removed is to either buy their "Web of Trust Seal" which costs $451/year, or have tons of people sign up for an account in their system, which in turn will bring the company more revenue as well.
Here is there 'game', you complain, then the stop answering your emails, then you complain on their forum and they 'block your' name and password so your account is virtually locked. They don't respond to any questions, there is NO SUPPORT and the support there is doesn't assist but gives you wrong answers and the run-around. So like God, they block you off your account so you cannot even answer malicious statements left by other WOT users that are inaccurate. I hope this company is closed down and will line up to sign a lawsuit against them...

I have never hated a company as badly as I hate this company. Non-Responsive, Ludicrous Ratings, Playing with people's livelihood and They don't even respond to a problem When They Are Wrong! I truly hate this company.

Mywot openly supports hardcore deviant pornography and copyright infringement.
I can guarantee you that a single user's rating is not sufficient for MyWOT to score a site. I have put up ratings for sites run by myself and friends of mine, sites that aren't at all well known, and the scorecard still shows blank. I have also rated phishing sites that showed no ratings from spam email, and these negative reviews don't get reflected either. The problem is when users feed the mass rating tool with lists from shady URI blacklists (and in comments—which don't affect scores—say things like "GoDaddy site", "Alexa top 100 site", or, my personal favorite, "uses cookies". The kind of comments generally with no votes or heavily downvoted).
MyWOT has a community of high level users that get to decide if they like your website or not. If they do not then then rate it low and there is nothing you can do about. They make false statements that we sell drugs, identity theft, and are deceptive. We then use the support method to have customers rate our website, but that was a waste. We just opened them up to the communities hate. They can delete the positive posts and put their posts at the top.
We do not directly offer surgery and we in no way offer drugs. We help customers collect information about places in Thailand so they can make accurate information. We make no decisions for them, but only help provide information. During their time here, we are their guide and driver.
No one seems interested in reading what we do. It seems like some personal grudge to just take advantage. We read in the support to have our friends and customer come in rate and now users are trying to use that against us as well. We care about our business and if we were some sort of scam we wouldn't spend the time to register here or even list here at all.
If anyone here has ever run a small business they would know how difficult is and how much it means to the owner. It is not easy to tell people to register on a website and comment in favor of your website.
People are making assumptions and judgement about us. We listed here to help list our company details. Not to list a scam in a website that protects against scams. How do we combat negative reviews from non-customers that are claiming we are associated with botched surgeries, credit card fraud or selling drugs?
The ironic thing is, is that mywot is difficult to contact. There is not information about them, and after flagging libel comments nothing happens. This is not what this website is for and it seems many business have had similar problems with their high level users. I do not think mywot is a bad company, but their high level users get to dictate if you are accepted or not instead of how this website states websites are rated.
Our positive reviews were deleted and their lies went to the top. Doing this will probably enrage the community more, and hurt our rating. However, the company can not survive if it is not true to its mission and provides bogus reporting.

Your site has a poor reputation, because several sources say it contains active threats. The site was recently compromised and hosted more than one phishing pages. For example, Norton currently blacklists the site:

Only once the issues have been resolved will it be possible for your site's reputation to improve.
However, you should note your site's reputation tells you whether people trust the site, not only if it's safe to visit. Threatening or insulting other users on our site will not inspire trust in them, or anyone else reading the posts. If these people feel you cannot be trusted, the only person you can blame is yourself at this point. Had you simply resolved the security issues and calmly addressed any other concerns, your reputation would have probably improved already.

Listen to me closely, BULL [***]! We contacted nortons today and they told us you attached a fake phishing tag with your software. We had ZERO bad ratings and we know for a fact on how your company works. We know all about your platinum members and I promise to god, you will never get away from me now www.the-lost-art.com . We complained earlier about our stats and you guys found out that these were false. All of the sudden we were targeted again by one of your platinum members and we have a bad rating. DO NOT [***] ME! You can look at HealthyTheWombat's { Fake admin for WOT } comment on the first page slandering TLA for a website that has a great rating by WOTS standards and now we have a bad score. This is truly the worst site ever created. Look at the thousands of real virus programs that are real that have zero Blacklists against this great company. We have proof from nortons that HealthyTheWombat's / leofelix have used phishing software to hurt our site. WOT will be sued! We have ip addresses linking back to these admins and also wot doing dirty business on the net. We have a team of Entertainment lawyers looking into this and we have other businesses that have been treated the same way.
You guys want to mess with our website.... Ok... We will haunt you as long as we can. your fake rating system and Phising scam will come out if its the last thing we do.
This is supposedly a safe browser add-on that will help protect against dangerous or fraudulent websites. Users are supposed to rate sites good or bad. But WOT actively rewards users when specialize in giving negative reports. Some of their top-rated users have done tens of thousands of negative reports, and it is obvious they are not really rating sites accurately. WOT's own statistics show that the overwhelming majority of ratings are negative. The developers of WOT are in the business of selling security seals for websites, so they have a vested interest in making website owners aforaid of negative ratings. It is typical for harmless websites to have negative ratings, which cause scary warning messages to pop up in the browser of anyone who has installed with WOT plugin. If the website owners aren't using WOT, they may never even know they have been targeted. At the same time, there are a number of dangerous or fraudulent sites which have no ratings or good ratings from WOT. Overall, the ratings are worthless to consumers and possibly very harmful to people running reputable online businesses. Then, when you realize that this plug-in is worse than useless and uninstall it, it is never really completely uninstalled, but leaves hidden traces behind, in the same way that spyware does. Ultimately, I went to a website (wotratings.com) and had them improve my rating for me. It wasn't cheap or real fast (about 2 1/2 months) but I had no other options. That worked and my rating was back to a light green, but I really shouldn't have to spend several hundreds of dollars to fix what a few users destroyed.
At the moment my website is marked grey by Web Of Trust, meaning, as yet unrated.
If there anyway to avoid having your website rated by WOT? As I don`t wish to have any associations with it?

I 100% agree with you. I just read a report on someone- I use their site on a regular basis- I have bought from them for years- She's an honest, hard working, reliable and truthful person who does countless charity work while caring for the disabled family member and her elderly mother. I just came from her home- she's now suicidal because of this- she said ( and I quote) " what's the point- I've worked my whole life trying to do good and I'll die being labelled a scammer" I didn't want to leave her - but had to go. Her husband said she's been crying for the last 30 hours over this. It started when she made a comment in their forums. The "superhero" even admits that in his comment !
I really think she's going to harm herself and don't know what to do.
If she does, WOT has a lot to answer for- this woman has given so much and this is plain sinful.
I hope they all rot - this is too much power for those who have no understanding of their actions. Children, and internet trolls.

The site had all those green votes since 2013- now, 2 years later- a lousy 2 votes by the "powerful" has destroyed the life of someone who they should wish they could walk in her shadow- she's a saint
